In operation research, a specific area being analyzed in great depth is the transportation problem (TP). The key objective of this problem is to find the lowest total transportation costs for commodities to meet consumer requirements at destinations incorporating resources acquired at their points of origin. In this work, the spherical fuzzy transportation problem (SFTP) determines the lowest cost of carrying items from origin to destination. Most of the time, accurate data has been used, but these variables are actually inaccurate and ambiguous. The histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methyltransferase KMT2D (also called MLL4) is one of the most frequently mutated epigenetic modifiers in many cancers, including medulloblastoma (MB). Notably, heterozygous KMT2D loss frequently occurs in MB and other cancers. However, its oncogenic role remains largely uncharacterized. Here, we show that heterozygous Kmt2d loss in murine cerebellar regions promotes MB genesis driven by heterozygous loss of the MB-suppressor gene Ptch via the upregulation of tumor-promoting programs (e.g., oxidative phosphorylation [OXPHOS]). Background: Research in long-term residential care settings (or care homes) for older people should address questions and uncertainties that matter most for those receiving and delivering care. Whether research does this effectively is unclear. In part, because the uncertainties and questions of key stakeholders are unmapped. Objective: To capture and prioritise the uncertainties of older people living in care homes, their relatives and staff. Methods: A three-phase mixed-methods study: (i) gathering uncertainties, (ii) data analysis and (iii) prioritisation. BACKGROUND: HEARTS in the Americas is the regional adaptation of the WHO Global HEARTS Initiative, aimed at helping countries enhance hypertension and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk management in primary care settings. Its core implementation tool, the HEARTS Clinical Pathway, has been adopted by 28 countries. To improve the care of hypertension, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease (CKD), HEARTS 2.0 was developed as a three-phase process to integrate evidence-based interventions into a unified care pathway, ensuring consistency across fragmented guidelines. This paper focuses on Phase 1, highlighting targeted interventions to improve and update the HEARTS Clinical Pathway.

In the 1960s, before the days of the internet, there were few places a young person could read about popular music – as a limited number of print media outlets took popular music, especially rock, seriously. In order to read about popular music (beyond the reprinting of lyrics, industry news, or promotions), one would turn to newly developed teen-type and teen fan magazines like DIG or 16 Magazine, where pages were full of artists such as Elvis, Annette, Leslie Gore, Connie Francis, and Paul Anka. This article examines the creation and development of the Science Service, a 1920s initiative aimed at popularizing science through mass media. Founded by biologist William Ritter and newspaper magnate Edward Scripps, the wire service sought to disseminate accurate scientific information to the American public via newspapers, radio, and other popular media. While Scripps favored a commercially viable, accessible style that used entertainment to hook readers, Ritter envisioned science journalism as a tool for democratic education and intellectual empowerment. These conflicting philosophies created lasting tensions within the organization around how to address challenges such as sensationalism, editorial independence, and public skepticism. …

The main provisions for creators are a royalty right and increased control over commissioned works. According to recent studies, Asian American history has been misrepresented or omitted from the overall narrative of American history in standards, textbooks, and curricula. The problem was that Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) perspectives were missing and underrepresented in the middle school social studies curriculum in Wisconsin. Framed by Ladson-Billings’ culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP), the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore how middle school social studies teachers integrated the voices of AAPI identities into the curriculum. While sport-related concussion (SRC) is a known risk in circus arts, no published guidelines exist to guide post-concussion return to circus, contributing to inadequate management in this population. The Concussion in Sport Group (CISG) published the 6th international consensus statement in 2023, providing updated guidance and assessment tools for the management of SRC. Sport and dance organisations have adapted these recommendations for their specific settings. The number of reactivations increased in the Güzelyalı-Erenköy landslide area after 2013 in Çanakkale, Türkiye, where historical landslide activity has been recorded since 1875. This area is home to numerous summer residences and experiences ongoing slow-moving landslide activity along a 400-m-long slope, extending from the heavily trafficked Çanakkale-İzmir highway to the coastline. In this study, the nature of the reactivations was evaluated by considering the conditioning and triggering factors that contributed to the landslide. The evaluation was based on geochemical analyses, field observations, geoelectric measurements, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) data. The results revealed that the sliding occurred along a …

Reports estimate that approximately 35 percent of U.S. adolescents have dated or are currently dating, making the fact that over a third of those youth have reported experiencing some form of adolescent dating violence (ADV) in their relationships, incredibly concerning. An estimated 31 percent (~4.5 million) of dating youth report perpetrating ADV and 35 percent (~5.1 million) report ADV victimization. Childhood exposure to intimate partner violence (eIPV) and child maltreatment have both been linked with the experience of ADV, however, results vary greatly across studies, particularly regarding ADV perpetration. Çangaldağ Metamorphic Complex is defined with low grade metamorphic equivalents of mafic to felsic intrusive and extrusives, clastics and volcanoclastics. The Au-Cu-Zn Say Yayla (deeply-seated; West Zone) and the Au-dominant Büyük Hill (gossan related; East Zone) deposits are classified as bimodal-mafic type VMS in that complex and they are hosted in the metafelsic ensimatic arc volcanics. These were investigated by soil samples developed over each mineralization to examine the soil characteristics with different textural features. A total of 274 soil samples were collected and they have been geochemically analysed and examined using various statistical methods. The results reveal that both …

Background: Gun-related homicide remains a persistent public health crisis in the United States, with over 48,000 firearm-related deaths reported in 2022, including 19,651 homicides and 27,032 suicides. Despite frequent calls for tighter gun control, firearm access alone does not explain the complexity of violence. Objective: This commentary aims to unpack the socioeconomic, psychological, and biological drivers of gun-related homicide and propose integrative, evidence-based solutions that extend beyond legislative reform. In this review, we discuss how mutations in glioma are associated with prognosis and treatment efficacy. A fascinating characteristic of glioma and all cancers is that while common growth and developmental pathways are altered, the characteristic mutations are distinct depending on the specific type of tumor with concomitant prognoses. Next-generation sequencing, precision medicine, and artificial intelligence are boosting the employment of molecular biomarkers in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Understanding the biological underpinnings of distinct mutations on critical signaling pathways is crucial for developing novel therapies for glioma.
