To speak of global Africa is to reject essentialist notions of African identity, recognizing that to be African is to be unbounded by space, place, or fixed definitions. FBXO11-related intellectual developmental disorder with dysmorphic facies and behavioral abnormalities is a rare genetic disorder. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings associated with this disorder have been sparsely described in literature. This case report describes and depicts brain MRI of a patient with FBXO11-related disorder. The radiologic findings within this report aim to improve the knowledge of the radiologists and clinicians in the detection of this rare condition.

Understanding the difference between signal and noise in a measurement is fundamental to analytical chemists. The typical instruments found in an undergraduate chemistry department can be used to teach this concept, as well as signal averaging, by giving students hands-on experience with measurements and data processing. This work presents an undergraduate laboratory module (homework and experiment) that provides specific instructions for using gas chromatographs, fluorometers, a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, and an infrared spectrometer to collect replicate measurements and a framework for calculating the noise level, baseline, signal level, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and the signal thresholds …

Recently it is increasingly common practice for universities and professional registration councils to probe into applicants’ criminal records as a precondition for admission. Using social constructionism, this qualitative study explored the experiences of six formerly incarcerated individuals previously sentenced to life imprisonment, who hold professional university degrees in Law, Education, Psychology and Social Work and investigated whether having a criminal record had any bearing when applying for professional registration. The results indicate that due to the perceived stigma of, and discrimination against a criminal record, there exist varying degrees of criminal record disclosure ranging from partial, to full and non-disclosure. …

The court granted the tenant's motion to dismiss a nonpayment case because the landlord could not produce a valid lease for the period in which the alleged arrears accrued. The landlord's argument that a "HUD Model Lease" provided for a perpetual lease was rejected by the court, which found that the rental amount changing from year to year made the lease indefinite on a material term. Consequently, with no lease in effect for the relevant time, the landlord could not maintain the nonpayment proceeding.

The court held that the landlord's building, originally containing five residential units, became subject to rent stabilization after a commercial tenant created a sixth residential unit in the basement. As the landlord failed to serve the required rent stabilization notices, the court affirmed the judgments in favor of the tenants.

Current radiobiological models focus primarily on nuclear DNA damage and fail to fully explain radiation-induced noncancerous health effects. This dissertation investigates whether non-nuclear subcellular structures contribute to radiation-induced biological damage through experimental biomarker analysis and computational microdosimetry. The central hypothesis posits that whole-body photon irradiation results in subcellular non-nuclear damage, specifically increased circulating mitochondrial DNA concentrations, that correlates with radiation dose and long-term noncancerous effects such as cardiovascular disease.

Specific Aim 1 measured mitochondrial and nuclear DNA concentrations in banked blood samples from 72 Chinese rhesus macaques that previously received whole-body photon irradiation ($0-10$ Gy) from Cobalt-60 or LINAC sources. …

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the incidence of breast cancer in young women over a ten-year period and examine its association with clinical characteristics, risk factors, treatment modalities, and survival outcomes. Methods: A retrospective analysis of the Breast Cancer Registry at our institution was conducted. Of the 2,238 women diagnosed with breast cancer between 2012 and 2021, 535 (23.9%) were aged 40 years or younger at the time of diagnosis. Many children and adults in the United States experience developmental disabilities and mental health challenges, leading to bias, marginalization, and economic hardship. Racism exacerbates these issues for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), increasing depression, isolation, and health disparities. The purpose of this study was to explore parents' perspectives on the impact of racism on the psychological and physical health of teenagers aged 13–18 years with moderate IDD in the Northwestern United States. The impending advent of quantum computing poses a significant threat to classical cryptographic primitives, necessitating a robust migration toward post-quantum cryptographic (PQC) systems. However, a complete transition remains impractical in the short term, giving rise to hybrid environments where classical and PQC schemes coexist. This thesis addresses a fundamental challenge in such settings: the need for efficient and secure zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) that establish plaintext consistency across cryptographic primitives defined over distinct algebraic domains. This article analyzes the legality of U.S. unilateral seabed mining authorized by Executive Order 14285, signed by President Donald Trump on April 24, 2025, permitting mineral extraction on the U.S. continental shelf and international deep seabed. Critics, including China, the European Union, and the International Seabed Authority, contend that this policy violates international law by circumventing Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which designates seabed minerals as the “common heritage of mankind” and mandates regulation through the ISA.
