A Culture Of Accountability Through Ethical Leadership Drives Citizenship Behavior In Ghana’S Traditional System Of Leadership, Eric Yeboah-Asiamah

This study seeks to investigate the influence of accountability on the community citizenship behavior of followers in Ghana's traditional system of leadership with the mediating role of ethical leadership behavior. A cross-sectional survey design was used to obtain quantitative data from 319 Ghanaians through questionnaires. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.1.0.3 was utilized to test the study’s hypotheses. The results showed that accountability (ACC) was a significant predictor of ethical leadership behavior but had no direct effect on community citizenship behavior (CCB). Additionally, the relationship between ACC and CCB was partially mediated by ethical leadership behavior. …

Scholars usually conceptualize values-based leadership (VBL) as a subset of transformational leadership. By contrast, we see VBL as a form of leadership in its own right, having theoretical roots in institutional theory. Building on recent Scandinavian contributions to VBL, we develop our argument by delineating VBL from transformational leadership and proposing a conceptualization of VBL that is consistent with Selznick’s theory of institutional leadership. This article reimagines leadership as an ecologically attuned practice of presencing, grounded in ethical responsiveness to nature’s underlying generative intelligence. It invites leaders to cultivate a nature-informed sensibility and imaginal attunement to emergence. Rooted in three naturesourced, orienting principles — the Rhizomic, Telluric, and Heliotropic — this framework integrates Dynamic Presencing’s (DP) foundational gestures of letting go, letting be, and letting come. This paper examines the persistent neocolonial dynamics within the Franc Zone, encapsulated by the adage “plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose” (the more things change, the more they stay the same). Despite nominal independence in the 1960s achieved by countries colonized by France, the analysis reveals how France maintains significant control through the Franc Zone and the “Françafrique” system. Communities of African descent worldwide experience persistent structural discrimination, manifested in poverty, underdevelopment, marginalization, social exclusion, and economic disparities. Child marriage affects 39,000 girls daily, totaling 650 million women married before age eighteen globally. While driven by poverty, tradition, and limited education, climate change is emerging as a significant new factor, particularly in developing nations such as Malawi, where 42% of girls marry before age eighteen. An estimated 1.5 million girls in Malawi are at risk due to climate-exacerbated food insecurity and displacement.
