Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is the most common cyanotic congenital heart defect (CHD). TOF may present in isolation or in conjunction with one or more non-cardiac congenital anomalies or neurodevelopmental disorders (TOF+). Uncertainty regarding the efficacy of various genetic testing strategies, and an incomplete understanding of the genetic causes of TOF+, may lead to hesitancy in recommending genetic testing, particularly, clinical exome sequencing (cES). Here, we analyzed cES data from 131 individuals with TOF+. A definitive or probable diagnosis was made for 31 individuals, yielding a diagnostic rate of 23.6% (31/131). One individual received three diagnoses. Commercially available CHD panels …
Ai-Enabled Innovations In Automated Essay Scoring And Feedback Systems, Michael J. Murff
Ai-Enabled Innovations In Automated Essay Scoring And Feedback Systems, Michael J. Murff
Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation examines the evolution and educational implementation of Automated Essay Scoring (AES) systems, with particular focus on generative artificial intelligence integration in educational assessment. Through a two-article format, this research addresses the persistent gap between technical capability and educational adoption that has characterized AES development over seven decades. The first article presents a comprehensive methodological review analyzing 122 studies spanning AES evolution from foundational computational linguistics through contemporary hybrid systems. Despite achieving strong correlations with human scoring, modern AES systems face resistance due to validity concerns and misalignment with pedagogical values, revealing an "adoption paradox" where technical sophistication often …

Sustainability-oriented solutions are essential to address the depletion of natural resources, solid waste accumulation, and high CO2 emissions in the construction industry. This research focuses on the development of environmentally friendly green bricks by replacing high-carbon-footprint constituents with local, natural materials. Specifically, flax shives, a natural agricultural by-product, and marble powder, an industrial waste, were used as partial substitutes in the binder matrix. The natural fibers not only promote sustainability but also enhance insulation and reduce the environmental burden. The bricks were molded into rectangular specimens (60 × 100 × 200 mm) and tested for thermal conductivity, moisture absorption, and …

The shift toward experience-oriented travel has positioned food as a central driver forattracting visitors to sustainable destinations, directly supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)11 (resilient cities) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption). While prior research has predominantly emphasised marketing outcomes, the role of bodily experiences in shaping gastronomic tourism has received less attention. This studyexplores how sensory elements (sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch) and non-sensoryelements (including cultural meaning and service quality) jointly influence food-relatedtravel experiences. Twenty-five self-identified food travellers were interviewed in a UnitedNations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) City of Gastronomy, and their narratives were analysed using a three-stage …

In this non-payment case, the court granted the tenant's motion for summary judgment, dismissing the proceeding. Although the building predated C of O requirements, the court found that the landlord had illegally altered the building by creating additional apartments without the required permits. This action constituted a violation of Multiple Dwelling Law §§ 301 and 302, which prohibits a landlord from collecting rent or maintaining a non-payment action for an illegally occupied dwelling. Based on judicial notice of DOB and ECB violations, the court determined the landlord was barred from pursuing the action, resulting in a substantial win for the …

Population Structure And Stock Assessment Of Tilapia Species In Coastal Lagoon, Lake Manzala, Egypt, Mohamed Fetouh, Kariman Shalloof, Attia El-Aiatt, Alaa El-Far, Walid Aly
Blue Economy
This study aimed to estimate the biology and population structure of cichlid species in Lake Manzala, where tilapias are the main catch. Samples were collected from commercial fishing boats in the fishing areas between 2019 and 2021. The length frequency distributions were evaluated using FiSAT II software. The results showed that Oreochromis niloticus was the most dominant species, making up 50% of the tilapia catch. Four age groups were found in O. niloticus and Coptodon zillii, and three in Oreochomis aureus and Sarotherodon galilaeus. Age group II was the most dominant across all species. The von Bertalanffy equation constants (L∞ …
Implementation Of A Standardized Protocol For Early Detection Of Coronary Artery Disease, Erika Sosa
Implementation Of A Standardized Protocol For Early Detection Of Coronary Artery Disease, Erika Sosa
DNP and Student Works
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of mortality worldwide, accounting for over 931,000 deaths in the United States in 2021. The growing prevalence of CVD, coupled with increased life expectancy, underscores the need for early detection and intervention to mitigate its impact on patients, families, and society. Timely identification of subclinical heart disease can significantly improve outcomes by allowing earlier implementation of preventive strategies.
This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project implemented a primary care–based protocol for the early detection of coronary artery disease (CAD) using the Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) score. The CAC score, a non-invasive imaging modality, …

Advanced Hyperspectral Imaging From Orbit: Achievements And Challenges From The First Year Of Tanager-1, Jeff Guido, Mark Keremedjiev, James Mason, Riley Duren, Judy Lai-Norling, Kirk Seaman, Robert Green
Small Satellite Conference
In August 2024, Planet Labs PBC launched Tanager-1, a small satellite class hyperspectral satellite designed to detect methane point source emissions, developed through the Carbon Mapper partnership. In a short time, Tanager-1 began imaging and demonstrating the exceptional sensitivity of the onboard VSWIR imaging spectrometer designed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The early performance of Tanager-1 signals a significant advancement in remote sensing capability made possible by an innovative public-private partnership bringing together commercial, non-profit, philanthropic, academic, and government entities.
Leveraging JPL-developed technology and Planet’s proven expertise in spacecraft development and operation, Tanager-1 acquires high-fidelity hyperspectral data across the 400-2500 …
