In recent years, scandals regarding the malpractices of many nonprofit organizations (NPOs) for selfish ends have eroded public trust in them. Therefore, it is necessary to consider whether the credibility of NPOs, as one of the three key implementers in cause-related marketing (CRM) campaigns, has a transfer effect on enterprise brand image. However, its sustainability is increasingly threatened by factors such as population growth, saltwater intrusion, land subsidence, and climate change. A significant limitation is the absence of a comprehensive, data-rich, three-dimensional lithologic model that accurately represents the intricate structure and geometry of the aquifer. IMPORTANCE: The prevalence of depression is higher in cancer survivors than in the general population. As the long-term cancer survivor population increases, it is increasingly important to understand risk factors for late-onset depression.

OBJECTIVE: To identify risk factors associated with late-onset depression in long-term (5-year) survivors of breast, prostate, or colorectal cancer.

DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This retrospective cohort study used 2022 linkage of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) and Medicare data to identify 5-year survivors of breast, prostate, or colorectal cancer 66 years or older who were enrolled in fee-for-service Medicare and had no previous depression diagnosis. This thesis examines the creation and evolution of feminist art exhibitions and collectives in the United States from the early 1970s through the 2020s. These exhibitions and the work they contain are analyzed alongside each wave of feminism that ran parallel to their existence. Calcium ions (Ca2+) are essential second messengers intimately implicated in a variety of biological processes, ranging from short-term events such as muscle contraction to long-term effects like gene expression. Dysregulated Ca2+ signaling can disrupt cellular function and contribute to the development of various human diseases, including developmental, neurological, immunoinflammatory, metabolic, and cardiovascular disorders. To study the mechanisms and biological consequences of Ca2+ signaling, optogenetic approaches have proven invaluable, as they offer exceptional spatiotemporal resolution compared to traditional methods. Importance: Primary brain and central nervous system cancer (collectively referred to as CNS cancer) comprises 2% of all human cancers and poses significant health and economic challenges in the United States.

Objective: To analyze CNS cancer burden in the US, stratified by time, location (state and division), sex, age group, and Sociodemographic Index (SDI).

The ability to use conversion factors, calculate error, and evaluate the quality of data quantitatively is essential for student success in science fields. Specifically, within biological oceanography, the use of Redfield Ratios to determine nutrient limitation is a base concept. In this Excel-based lesson students reproduce a figure and analysis from a published scientific article detailing a phytoplankton bioassay experiment. As part of the lesson students calculate and propagate error and use Redfield Ratios to determine nutrient limitation. Inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) channel activity is important in the control of membrane potentials in both excitable and non-excitable cells and is regulated through various ligands, including specific membrane lipids. Phosphatidyl-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) is required for activity of all Kir channels, binding to the cytoplasmic domain in a compact conformation tightly tethered to the transmembrane domain. Most Kir2 channel structures determined in complex with PIP2 molecules are nevertheless in a closed state, requiring additional conformational changes for channel opening. A new generation of Chinese women is questioning the family by examining internal contradictions in parent-child relationships, particularly in how intimacy and care are enacted, while also challenging the legitimacy of the family institution that underpins gendered divisions of labor and hierarchies. Some of them are revealing the problems within the family and refusing patriarchal marriage and family as their daily act of resistance. Their resistance extends beyond the family, into their workplaces, where gender division and hierarchies are also at work. Athletic administrators often assume a distinct stakeholder role that has the most immediate and frequent impact on college athletes’ well-being and retention. The implementation of name, image, and likeness (NIL) represents a historic transformation in college athletics. Utilizing a sport development framework, particularly the retention stage, to examine elite athlete development, how athletic administrators socially support college athletes in the new context of NIL and its impact on administrators’ work experiences were empirically assessed. Background: Peer influence is central to adolescent smoking initiation, yet its impact varies depending on individual and contextual factors. Understanding which moderators (personality, contextual, cultural, and environmental traits) shape these processes can inform more effective prevention strategies. We investigated hypothesized moderators of peer influence for adolescent smoking/vaping norms and other smoking-related outcomes in high and low-middle-income countries (LMICs): Northern Ireland and Bogotá.

The Department of Education (“ED”) enforces civil rights in education through Title IX. Title IX prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally funded educational programs, and promotes inclusion in higher education.  Significantly, Title IX enforcement depends on the executive branch controlling the ED, as this power rests with both the Department of Justice and the ED’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR). Historically, judicial enforcement of statutes like Title IX relied on agency interpretation under Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. This Article explores the role of the Preamble in constitutional interpretation by looking at how it was perceived at the founding. It does this in three ways. First, it explores how preambles were used in eighteenth-century America. At the time, preambles were almost universally understood to be key to interpreting the laws and constitutions they preceded. This shared understanding forms the backdrop against which the Preamble was received by the founding generation. Job loss is a major collateral consequence of pretrial detention. It frequently results from even short periods of detention and can have cascading and long term effects on income, housing security, family stability, and likelihood of incarceration—all despite the fact that people in pretrial detention are entitled to a presumption of innocence and indeed may never be found guilty of an offense. Given existing racial disparities in arrests, bail determinations, and bail amounts, job loss from pretrial detention further drives racial inequalities in employment and income. Critics of President Trump have alleged that he has reduced independent agencies to mere extensions of the executive branch during his second term. The reality is that Democratic and Republican presidents routinely leverage the opportunity to reshape independent agencies in openly partisan ways because presidents have majority control of the appointments for the leadership of virtu ally all agencies. I examine a large data set of independent agency votes from the Obama and first Trump terms to show that independent agency commissioners vote in predictably partisan ways when addressing substantive policy changes. For decades, courts have grappled with the tension between compensating victims of mass harms and maintaining fairness to defendants when causation is difficult to prove. This Article argues that the Supreme Court’s due process jurisprudence provides a relevant framework for navigating this tension. We contend that the Court over the last three decades has established a consistent Fourteenth Amendment due process approach in punitive damages and personal jurisdiction cases, which is rooted in antecedents tracing to the nineteenth century and relies on a nexus of interests that balances individual rights, state interests, and federalism concerns. Background: Mothers experiencing homelessness often carry extensive trauma histories, yet little work examines how abuse and sexual violence shape day-to-day parenting inside communal shelter settings. This study explored how trauma histories intersect with shelter structures to influence caregiving and feelings surrounding parenting among homeless mothers.

Method: Using a qualitative design, four mothers (ages 30–51) residing in a large Midwestern homeless shelter completed approximately 30-minute, semi-structured interviews in a private room onsite. Data were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed with inductive reflexive thematic analysis in Dedoose.
