The Act supplements the protection of religious exercise by requiring government actions that could burden religious practices to meet a “compelling interest” test, mirroring a federal counterpart bill from 1993. The Act creates a cause of action against the state government for substantially burdening a person’s free exercise of religion without a compelling interest. The government must now clear this high legal standard before it may legally enforce laws or actions that substantially burden someone’s religious beliefs.

The Act makes significant changes to Georgia’s civil litigation procedures. It stays discovery upon the filing of a motion to dismiss, limits voluntary dismissals after an answer is filed, and allows for bifurcated trials to separate issues of liability and damages. It caps recoverable medical expenses to the reasonable value actually paid and expands the admissibility of evidence related to damages—including permitting the admission of seat belt non-use to argue comparative fault or mitigate damages. Despite accumulating research on help-seeking among violence victims, little is known about help-seeking among youth who use violence. In a racially and ethnically diverse sample of early adolescents (N=2,676; 50.3% female; Mage=12.67), participants self-reported physical bullying, physical fighting, physical dating violence perpetration, and help-seeking intentions over the past year. T-tests and one-way ANOVAs examined help-seeking by sex and race, respectively. Prevalence and comparisons of help-seeking across youth with and without any violence were examined. Youth who used any physical peer violence (n=965) reported lower help-seeking intentions than their peers, and among violent youth, males reported …

UNLABELLED: Metastasis is the main cause of prostate cancer-associated deaths, highlighting the urgent need to determine the mechanisms underlying prostate cancer progression. TROP2 (also known as tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 2) is an oncogenic transmembrane surface protein that is highly expressed in metastatic prostate cancer. Naturally occurring cleavage of TROP2 leads to a release of the TROP2 extracellular domain (TECD) into the extracellular environment. In this study, we identified an important functional role of TECD in prostate cancer metastasis. Computer-aided design has become common practice in DNA nanotechnology, and many programs are available that make the sophisticated design processes accessible to both the core research community and curious scientists in other fields. However, most of the design tools are committed to the scaffolded DNA origami method. Here we present an automated design pipeline for creating DNA wireframe nanostructures based on a scaffold-free molecular self-assembly approach. Unlike in the DNA origami method, scaffold-free designs are not built around a global backbone strand but are constituted entirely of short, locally intertwined oligonucleotides. Viva CalleSJ is an open-streets initiative where several miles of the City of San José’s streets are closed to vehicular traffic, allowing residents to walk, bike, scooter, and skate freely. This report evaluates the Viva CalleSJ event held in San José on September 7, 2025, which attracted more than 150,000 participants. Using a mixed-methods approach, this evaluation examines aspects such as attendance, activities, modal access, and economic impacts, utilizing data from participant surveys (in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese), interviews, and observational analysis. The paper explores whether there is a connection between operational performance, customer sentiment, and digital administrative complexity among major regional Middle Eastern airlines, such as Flag Carriers (e.g., Emirates) and Low-Cost carriers (LCCs) (e.g., Air Arabia). This study examines the robustness of voice biometrics when speech signals undergo audio codec transformations and sampling rate variations, conditions common in telecommunication networks. Speaker verification systems such as ECAPA-TDNN perform well on clean datasets, but their accuracy declines when low-bitrate codecs compress speech or when signals are resampled at reduced frequencies. In real-world deployments, systems adapt audio to bandwidth and storage limitations, often removing subtle acoustic details that support consistent speaker recognition. This study develops a data-driven framework for predicting vehicle theft using machine-learning techniques applied to a comprehensive crime dataset containing demographic, spatial ,and operational policing variables. The dataset, sourced from publicly available crime records, included 9,712 cases and 30 variables, with minimal missing data and balanced class distribution. After performing extensive preprocessing—including outlier analysis, missing-value imputation, categorical encoding, feature selection, and correlation testing—four supervised classification models were implemented: Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, and a Neural Network. This study explores how viewers process YouTube apology videos and how those processing methods relate to their judgments of the creator and their willingness to continue engaging with the channel. Guided by the Elaboration Likelihood Model, a single-session online survey experiment randomly assigned 413 adult participants to watch one of five publicly available apology videos from well-known YouTubers. After viewing, participants reported the extent to which they engaged in central versus peripheral processing, rated the creator's credibility and the apology's sincerity, and indicated their intentions to engage. Accurate and reliable detection of plant viruses is critical for protecting berries and other economically important crops. Yet diagnostic programs face persistent challenges with positive control availability, biosafety concerns, and specificity limitations. This thesis advances the diagnostic toolkit for berry viruses through three complementary innovations that address fundamental gaps in current detection methodologies. First, this research developed and validated virus-mimicking artificial positive controls (ViMAPCs) for diverse viruses affecting berry crops for endpoint PCR applications. ViMAPCs incorporate size differentiation, which enables immediate visual gel band discrimination between control and natural infection signals. In March of 1906, American troops massacred over 1,000 Filipino civilians on Bud Dajo mountain. American service members were commended for this incident. My research examines this massacre to ask why wars of insurgency are specifically subject to abuses of power, particularly during the American-Philippines War and the ensuing colonial warfare between 1898 and 1906 under the colonization of the US. My research will focus on the circumstances created to excuse US soldiers after atrocities were committed and the colonial attitudes of the time in addition to the brutal methods used by the American government in Philippines. The nation is fracturing into a patchwork of rights and punishment. What some states and localities safeguard as rights, other jurisdictions are criminalizing and punishing. As the divides in rights and punishment deepen, some states are becoming sanctuaries for freedoms penalized elsewhere and enacting shield laws prohibiting cooperation with criminalization and punishment states. Background: South Korea achieved universal health coverage (UHC) through the National Health Insurance (NHI). However, humanitarian sojourners under temporary stay permits were initially excluded. Alongside recommendations from the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK), the 2019 Amendment of the NHI Act expanded eligibility of the NHI. While this marked significant progress toward greater universality in health care, it also led to unintended consequences for humanitarian sojourners. A recent challenge to the Biden Administration’s military aid to Israel as aiding genocide presents an important question of the role of U.S. courts in adjudicating claims that top U.S. officials, in their execution of U.S foreign policy, are violating fundamental international law norms, such as the prohibition against committing or aiding and abetting genocide. Both the District Court and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit dismissed the case as presenting a non-justiciable political question.
