Exploring Undergraduate Women’S Experiences Of Collaborative Learning In Engineering Education: A Phenomenological Study Of The Social World, Sandra Ireri Cruz Morena

The persistent underrepresentation of women in engineering education remains a concern across global and national contexts, despite rising overall enrolment of women in higher education. In Ireland, the national average of women entering Engineering, Manufacturing, and Construction (EMC) programmes has gradually increased; however, the rate at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) has stayed at approximately 15% since 2016. This study seeks to better understand the gendered challenges underlying such trends by exploring the lived experiences of female undergraduate engineering students at TU Dublin, particularly in relation to collaborative learning environments such as project- and problem-based learning (PBL).

Due to the rapid innovation of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, AI chatbots have become increasingly influential computational social systems (CSS) in everyday life. However, the expansion of interactions between AI chatbots and consumers has raised significant ethical and privacy concerns. Using data from an online survey, this study empirically examines how consumer concerns about AI ethics and privacy influence their intention to use AI chatbots. These concerns are categorized into three types: 1) offensive language (generated by AI chatbots or users); 2) gender-biased language (from either source); and 3) digital privacy violations. The symposium presumed that the federal government would be scaling back workforce regulatory enforcement dramatically in the shadow of DOGE and several other developments. The essay focuses on OSHA and more narrowly questions the extent to which the OSH Act preempts state and local efforts to regulate workplace safety and health. Zoonotic tuberculosis (zTB) includes human tuberculosis caused by animal-associated Mycobacterium species, Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis) being the major cause of zTB. This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to estimate the pooled burden of human M. bovis infection and describe the genetic diversity of M. bovis isolated from humans in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. A literature search was conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar, followed by manual screening of additional references. This exploratory cross-sectional One Health study characterized LIODetect TB-ST antibody reactivity in dromedary camels and abattoir workers in Abu Dhabi Emirate and investigated tuberculosis-compatible lesions in slaughtered camels. Sera from 356 camels sampled from farms and livestock holdings (izbas), 393 camels presented for slaughter at Al Bawadi Abattoir, and 86 abattoir workers were screened with LIODetect TB-ST. All 25 LIODetect-reactive slaughtered camels underwent detailed postmortem examination; nonreactive slaughtered camels were not examined postmortem. Lesions identified in two reactive camels were evaluated by histopathology, Ziehl–Neelsen staining, and IS6110 polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Today, a record number of such contests are underway, and they have changed the board composition at many U.S. companies and caused a record number of CEO resignations. But there is a mystery here: when activist funds negotiate for changes with target managements, they often obtain meaningful changes in the board of directors and corporate policies. Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable linguistic capabilities, but the internal mechanisms driving their performance and behavior remain poorly understood. This dissertation investigates the interpretability of transformer-based language models from two complementary perspectives: the geometric organization of model internals in encoder-only models, and the mechanisms underlying safety behavior in decoder-only generative models.

In Part I, we address the challenge of measuring geometric properties in high-dimensional latent spaces, proposing and evaluating alternative measures of data spread that improve upon commonly used metrics. Yet, dominant economic, political, and academic frameworks often treat water as a backdrop or passive resource, ignoring it as an active participant in meaning-making and relationship-building. Viewing water as “nonliving” obscures how it participates in and co-creates relationships, limiting understanding about impacts of and responses to climate change and environmental degradation.

This paper builds on recent efforts to depict Indigenous polities across North America in their international relations with European and Euro-American colonists and their centralized governments. It examines George Frederick Ruxton, a private English citizen and former army lieutenant, as he developed his response to the U.S.-British Oregon dispute while living in London in early 1846. He concluded that continental warfare was imminent and took overt steps to influence British policy, which he believed could halt U.S. expansion and definitively resolve the “Oregon Question.”

Sex offender registries represent one of the most expansive and punitive criminal justice interventions in modern American history, yet public support for these policies remainsunderi nvestigated. Scholarly debate has questioned whether punitive attitudes toward sexual offenders reflect principled moral judgments, racial threat perceptions, or both. This study addresses that question by examining how offender race, offender age, offense severity, victim age, and offender-victim relationship shape public attitudes toward sexual offenders in the contemporary registry era. The Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke have been subjected to the Indian Act since 1889. Its forceful imposition has eroded ancestral governance systems and severed vital threads of cultural and social life. In 2024, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke—the Indian Act band council—declared its intent to restore traditional governance and unilaterally end the Indian Act’s reach within the territory. For over a century, Canadian lawyers have been prohibited from agreeing to contractual clauses limiting, allocating, or excluding their civil liability—a stark contrast to the graduated regimes governing other Canadian professionals and lawyers in major international jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium. This article seeks to initiate a critical conversation about legitimizing such clauses. To counter these structural threats, this Article proposes a restrictive, fiduciary-based standard for the use of GPAI in substantive legal work. The proposed “Fiduciary-Grade & Independence Safeguards” (FGIS) standard posits that law firms should presumptively prohibit the use of GPAI for tasks involving legal analysis, strategy, or the synthesis of confidential facts and law. A firm may only depart from this default prohibition if it can certify, with auditable proof, the implementation of two pillars of protection: (1) robust safeguards that neutralize vendor influence and preserve the lawyer’s independent professional judgment, and (2) fiduciary-grade confidentiality controls, including private deployment and …

Can the President adjourn Congress, declare that the adjournment constitutes a recess, and appoint cabinet officers without the Senate’s consent? President Donald Trump has considered invoking this supposed power. Adjourning Congress would enable the President to appoint otherwise unconfirmable officials. Even if the President does not adjourn Congress, the looming threat of adjournment could chill the Senate’s review of nominees.

This Article concludes that the President cannot evade the Senate’s role in the appointments process by adjourning Congress. Three clauses in the Constitution inform the analysis: the Consent Clause, which requires each house to consent to the other’s adjournment; the …

This Article makes a series of interventions into the existing literature on birthright citizenship. It makes three historical claims about the common law rule and its development. First, the Article centers the importance of parental status. The relevant status was not the citizenship of the parents, however, but whether they were under the protection of, and owed allegiance to, the sovereign. The common law rule therefore did not depend on descent, but the modern belief that the rule depended solely on place of birth is also mistaken. Background. Depression and anxiety are common among adults with type 2 diabetes and obesity, yet one-time intake screening may not identify symptoms that emerge or change during treatment. Local Problem. Within a telehealth obesity care program, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 screening occurred at intake, but no standardized reassessment process existed. Methods. A single Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle evaluated electronic PHQ-9 and GAD-7 reassessment among adults with type 2 diabetes and obesity. The primary outcome was reassessment completion, with a prespecified feasibility target of at least 20%. Paired symptom changes, clinical and safety triggers, and follow-up were also evaluated. This dissertation investigates extending the frequency range over which a one-dimensional, plane traveling wave can be generated in a water-filled, steel-walled waveguide under ocean temperature and hydrostatic pressure conditions. The wave guide considered is a thick-walled, steel cylinder filled with a water/glycol mixture with a transducer at each end and a hydrophone array along the length. One transducer excites a plane wave while the other cancels reflections, resulting in a traveling wave in the waveguide. During Reconstruction, as Congress debated the place of African-Americans in U.S. society, it evaluated how the principles it articulated would apply to Chinese-Americans. Rather than adopting a race-neutral jurisprudence, it began identifying the ways in which the law could be deployed to deny Asians economic and political opportunities, and the right to immigrate. Ultimately, a joint network of federal and state laws denied Asians the right to naturalize, to own land, and to immigrate. The first manuscript, “BrkgaCuda 3.0: A Redesigned Multi-GPU Framework for Biased Random-Key Genetic Algorithms,” presents a ground-up architectural redesign of BrkgaCuda 2.0 that enables a true multi-GPU island model for Biased Random-Key Genetic Algorithms (BRKGA). The BRKGA island model evolves multiple semi-independent populations that periodically exchange elite solutions, a structure that maps naturally to multi-GPU parallelism; however, BrkgaCuda 2.0 is confined to a single GPU.
