Many parolees struggle with successful reintegration into society. Further research was needed to assess the benefits of parole for both parolees and former parolees in Guyana, the only English-speaking country in South America. The insights of ex-parolees may make the country’s parole process more meaningful to offenders’ rehabilitative experience and overall social reintegration. The purpose of this qualitative study was to understand the effectiveness of rehabilitative activities in the social reintegration of ex-parolees into Guyanese society. The problem examined in this study is how colorism affects Black families. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore the lived experiences of Black women and the colorist messages they received from family members, how those messages were internalized, and the messages perceived effects. The conceptual framework for this study was based on the colorist-historical trauma framework, and data were obtained through individual interviews with Black women ages 22–70, from various socioeconomic backgrounds and selected through purposeful sampling. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of school administrators in Maryland public schools regarding the implementation of discipline policies and their impact on juvenile delinquency. Prompted by rising concerns about delinquent behavior and inconsistent consequences for students, the research investigated how administrators perceive and navigate the challenges of enforcing discipline and the strategies they employ to foster safe, positive school environments. Grounded in defiance theory and social learning theory, the study used open-ended surveys to gather insights from 16 retired and current principals and assistant principals in Maryland public school systems. Background/Objectives: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous hematologic malignancy with historically poor outcomes, particularly among older adults and patients harboring high-risk molecular features. Advances in genomic profiling have enabled the development of targeted therapies, reshaping treatment algorithms beyond conventional cytarabine-anthracycline induction and hypomethylating agent-based regimens. This review summarizes current evidence and emerging therapeutic strategies across four evolving areas: menin inhibition, FLT3 inhibition, IDH inhibition and treatment approaches for TP53-mutated AML. Methods: We reviewed published clinical trials, preclinical studies, and ongoing clinical trials evaluating targeted therapies in AML. Background and Purpose: In 2023, 32.8% of all newly hired RNs leave within the first year, constituting more than a quarter of all RN separations. The average turnover cost for a bedside RN surpasses $52K, and each percentage shift in RN turnover will result in an extra cost/savings of approximately $380K annually for the average hospital. Further, the current national RN vacancy rate stands at a critical 15.7%.

Social work professionals often experience demanding and intense situations while facing organizational restructuring during crisis situations. The purpose of this generic qualitative study was to explore the viewpoints of frontline social workers regarding their ethical decision-making processes in response to the mandatory modifications of the service delivery protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic. Enck’s biomedical and ethical decision-making framework grounded the study. Data were collected from semi-structured interviews with 10 frontline social workers in Connecticut who had been employed with a social service agency for at least 3 years, but no more than ten. Transforming nonorthogonal bases into orthogonal ones often compromises essential properties or physical meaning in quantum systems. Here, we demonstrate that Löwdin symmetric orthogonalization (LSO) outperforms the widely used Gram–Schmidt orthogonalization (GSO) in characterizing and quantifying quantum resources, with particular emphasis on coherence and superposition. We employ LSO both to construct an orthogonal basis from a nonorthogonal one and to obtain a nonorthogonal basis from an orthogonal set, thereby mitigating ambiguity related to the basis choice in defining quantum coherence. Food insecurity is a devastating force in the United States, as shown by its destructive impact on vulnerable groups like children, racial minorities, and those in poverty. Non-white urban communities of color especially have significantly higher rates of household food insecurity due to systemic racism in American food systems. Incarcerated individuals exist in a space where security and privacy constantly clash. This study examines how surveillance technologies—biometric monitoring, video surveillance, and electronic tracking—in correctional settings impact the privacy rights of those incarcerated. Through a review of peer-reviewed literature, and insights from informal conversations with incarcerated individuals at Broome County Jail, this research examines the ethical, legal, and social implications of surveillance in carceral facilities, focusing on how constant monitoring impacts privacy, relationships, and mental well-being. The purpose of this study is to explore factors that relate to use of therapeutic self-disclosure (TSD) within a client-therapist relationship. Primarily utilizing grounded theory, this research study explores the role of professional affiliation, culture, and theoretical orientation on psychotherapists use of therapeutic self-disclosure. Participants included 13 licensed psychotherapists with varying therapy degrees, theoretical orientations, and cultural backgrounds. Each clinician was interviewed on their use of TSD within their clinical practice. Those with psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theoretical orientations expressed more hesitance to disclose than those with a primarily CBT theoretical orientation. Prisoner-on-prisoner sexual abuse is widespread in US male prisons, with inmates “turning each other out” by sexually assaulting each other. While the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) received unanimous support in Congress in 2003, motivated by the Human Rights Watch Report “No Escape: Male Rape in Prisons,” scholars argue that the PREA fails to protect prisoners from prison rape: for example, its standards may be ineffective or criminalize consensual sex between prisoners. This essay will examine the shortcomings of the PREA, drawing on current legal scholarship, and propose solutions to enhance the law's effectiveness in protecting prisoners. The US government …

Social capital influences community disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. In 2020, Kyne and Aldrich introduced the Social Capital Index (SoCI), a pioneering, publicly available county-level measure capturing bonding, bridging, and linking social capital across the United States. Since then, the SoCI has been widely adopted across disciplines and applied in diverse research contexts. Five years later, emerging theoretical developments and expanded data availability offer an opportunity to reassess its diffusion and strengthen its methodological foundations. Decidualization is the transformation of endometrial stromal cells into functionally specialized cells during the early stages of pregnancy. Occurring in mammals that develop invasive hemochorial placentae, decidualization is a pivotal evolutionary adaptation in mammals that supports pregnancy establishment, implantation, and placentation in a limited number of animal species. During decidualization, an endometrial stromal cell undergoes profound genetic, epigenetic, and proteomic changes, allowing it to prevent immunological rejection and fostering the development of a newly implanted embryo. To tolerate the cellular reprogramming that occurs during decidualization, a stromal cell must withstand reactive oxygen species (ROS), inflammation, and oxidative stress associated with …
