Enhancing Thermal Energy Storage Efficiency Using Optimized Concrete Materials: A Review, Ahmed Mohamed Abbass, Ahmed M. El-Khayatt, Khaled A. Eltawil

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The increasing global energy demand and the environmental impact of fossil fuels necessitate the development of sustainable energy solutions. Solar energy is a promising alternative, but its intermittency and inefficiency limit its widespread adoption. This study explores the role of advanced concrete-based thermal energy storage systems in addressing these challenges. Key aspects examined include packing density optimization, high-temperature performance, and hydrothermal durability of concrete. The research highlights the importance of granulometric optimization, binder selection, and hydration mechanisms in enhancing concrete properties. Additionally, the effects of heat exposure on concrete durability, permeability, and mechanical strength are analyzed, with a focus on …

Explainable Multi-Modal Deep Learning For Transparent Cancer Diagnosis: Integrating Radiology, Clinical Features, And Decision Visualization, Sital Dash, Laxmi Bewoor, Yashwant Dongre, Amol Bhosle, Kailas Patil, Shrikant Jadhav, Banani Mohapatra, Bhavnish Walia

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity

Introduction: Although artificial intelligence–based cancer diagnostic models have demonstrated strong predictive performance, their lack of transparency and reliance on single-modality data continue to limit clinical trust and adoption. Effectively integrating multi-modal data with interpret-able decision-making remains a key challenge. Methods: We propose an explainable multi-modal deep learning framework that integrates radiological imaging and structured clinical features using attention-based fusion. Image-level explanations are generated using Grad-CAM++, while SHAP is employed to quantify clinical feature contributions, enabling unified and cross-modal aligned interpretation rather than independent uni-modal explanations. The framework was evaluated on publicly available datasets, including CBIS-DDSM mammography, Duke Breast Cancer MRI, …

Intracranial Hemodynamic Response After 4 Weeks Of Aerobic Training Using Nasal Breathing, Marcela Guadiana, Cristina Grana Gedrange, Mia I. Perez, Yunsuk Koh, Jose M. Moris Feb 2026

Intracranial Hemodynamic Response After 4 Weeks Of Aerobic Training Using Nasal Breathing, Marcela Guadiana, Cristina Grana Gedrange, Mia I. Perez, Yunsuk Koh, Jose M. Moris

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

The transient hypercapnic state prompted by nasal-only breathing (NB) during exercise is a compelling stimulus for enhancing cerebral blood flow (CBF). However, whether NB can serve as a chronic training modality that elicits lasting, beneficial cerebrovascular adaptations remains unclear. PURPOSE: This study assessed whether a 4-week aerobic training program incorporating NB would yield superior cerebrovascular hemodynamics during a graded exercise test (GXT) compared with training under standard, unrestricted combined breathing (CB). METHODS: Twenty-two healthy males were randomly allocated to either an NB or CB training group, performing GXTs pre- (V1) and post-intervention (V2). The training protocol constituted four weeks of …

Can The Uk, Australia, And India Master The Defence Against Dark Patterns? A Comparative Study Of Jurisdictional Approaches, Swetha Meenal Ananthapadmanaban, Jeannie Marie Paterson

Indian Journal of Law and Technology

This paper examines how the United Kingdom (the ‘UK’), Australia, and India approach the regulation of one of the most pressing issues in contemporary digital markets – Dark Patterns. Taking the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (‘DMCC’) in the UK as a potential benchmark, it evaluates the structural strengths and shortcomings of Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023, in India and the proposed grey list of unfair trading practices in Australia. Through case studies of Amazon Audible’s subscription cancellation flow and Epic Games’ in-app purchase design, the paper illustrates how identical practices receive uneven legal …

This proposal is a proactive realignment, not simply a reaction to external pressures. We must  thoughtfully respond to the evolving university landscape, which includes shifts in student  enrollment, a smaller faculty body, and increased budgetary pressures. This merger presents a  significant opportunity. By combining our strengths, we can create a more integrated and  dynamic faculty and student experience, steward our resources more effectively, and build a  shared, revitalized plan to elevate the visibility and impact of the arts at the University of  Dayton.

We anticipate this merger will create significant operational and financial efficiencies, allowing  us to redirect resources to …

García, Jorge Pereda-De-Pablo, Daniel González-Fernández, Andrés Bedoya-Velásquez, Simon Carn, Et. Al.

Michigan Tech Publications

Volcanic emissions from the Tajogaite volcano, located on the Cumbre Vieja edifice on the island of La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain), caused significant public health and aviation disruptions throughout the eruption (19 September–13 December 2021, officially declared over on 25 December). Nonetheless, it is considered the most significant volcanic event in Europe over the past 75 years due to the substantial amount of SO2 released into the atmosphere. The Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), the authority responsible for volcano surveillance in Spain, implemented extensive operational monitoring to track volcanic activity and to provide a robust estimation of the volcanic plume height …

What’S History Without Tradition?, Richard C. Osborne Iii Feb 2026

What’S History Without Tradition?, Richard C. Osborne Iii

Catholic University Law Review

For many decades, the Establishment Clause had been a thorn in the Supreme Court’s side. Indeed, no other constitutional provision in recent memory has provided the Court with more trouble than the Establishment Clause. In its efforts to decide whether government conduct violated the Establishment Clause, the Court had applied no less than six tests. And as if that were not bad enough, many of these tests co-existed with one another, leaving government actors left to guess at their own peril which one controlled their fate.

But that officially changed when the Supreme Court decided Kennedy v. Bremerton School District …

Unleash The “Potential” Of The Collective Action Mechanism In Flsa Suits, Anthony Decaprio Feb 2026

Unleash The “Potential” Of The Collective Action Mechanism In Flsa Suits, Anthony Decaprio

Catholic University Law Review

Congress enacted the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to provide relief to low-income workers at risk of being taken advantage of by their larger, more sophisticated employer. The FLSA provides a collective action mechanism that allows similarly situated workers to bring suits together against a common employer outside the strictures of Rule 23 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. To ensure all potentially similarly situated workers have sufficient notice of the suit in order to affirmatively opt-in, the Supreme Court authorized the district courts to facilitate notice to all “potential plaintiffs.”

The circuits are currently split regarding the standard …

Between Seminole Rock And A Hard(Er) Place: A New(Er) Approach To Agency Deference, Kevin O. Leske Feb 2026

Between Seminole Rock And A Hard(Er) Place: A New(Er) Approach To Agency Deference, Kevin O. Leske

Catholic University Law Review

In Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, the United States Supreme Court in 2024 overruled Chevron U.S.A. Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc., ending the Chevron doctrine’s reign as the applicable rule for courts to use in reviewing agency interpretations of their authorizing statute. Although Chevron’s demise was no great surprise, the Court’s decision leaves myriad questions that may take decades to answer. The most pressing question is: what is now the precise standard that courts must apply to determine statutory meaning in these cases? But there is a related question that is equally important to our ever-changing …

From Waitlist To Activation: Exploring Patient Barriers And Team Interactions In Kidney Transplant Readiness, Judith I. Eguzoikpe Feb 2026

From Waitlist To Activation: Exploring Patient Barriers And Team Interactions In Kidney Transplant Readiness, Judith I. Eguzoikpe

Harrisburg University Dissertations and Theses

Kidney transplant candidates frequently experience prolonged inactive waitlist status due to incomplete readiness requirements, yet limited understanding exists regarding how patient barriers and team interactions intersect to influence activation timelines. This transcendental-phenomenological study explored how patient barriers and team dynamics contribute to delays in kidney transplant readiness, guided by Team Theory. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 participants (8 patients, 8 healthcare professionals) between December 2025 and February 2026. Data were analyzed using systematic phenomenological methods to identify patterns that address patient barriers, team interaction effects, and the teamwork improvements needed for earlier activation. Five interconnected themes emerged: Navigating a …

The Flaws Of Bruen And The Principle Of The Second Amendment, Cameron Collins Feb 2026

The Flaws Of Bruen And The Principle Of The Second Amendment, Cameron Collins

Catholic University Law Review

With a six Justice majority, the Court is more conservative than it has been in ninety years. No time has been wasted as the conservative Justices take aim at legal precedents left over from a more progressive era on the Court. There being no prior test established by the highest Court to review legal challenges on Second Amendment grounds, the Court took the opportunity to write new precedent in New York State Rifle Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen. Rather than stick with the means-end scrutiny framework that had been developing in the circuit courts, the Supreme Court established a …

The Ballot Question: Citizen Initiatives, Institutions, And The Policy Process, Ty Rhoads Feb 2026

The Ballot Question: Citizen Initiatives, Institutions, And The Policy Process, Ty Rhoads

Dissertations

State-level policymaking remains undertheorized relative to its federal counterpart, particularly in states where institutionalized direct democracy creates a parallel channel for policy change outside the legislature. This dissertation develops a novel theoretical framework for the state policy process by adapting punctuated equilibrium theory to American state politics, integrating it with party cartel theory and the concept of legislative policy monopolies. The central argument is that citizen initiatives and legislative referrals are structurally distinct policy venues whose ideological profiles, policy magnitudes, and electoral dynamics are systematically shaped by the partisan context of the legislature. Using Missouri as a case study spanning …
