As director of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and a key figure in the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs (OCIAA), Morley challenged Eurocentric perspectives and advocated for Latin American art’s unique identity. The article focuses on her organization of itinerant exhibitions, highlighting the cultural diversity of Latin American art while navigating political and institutional obstacles. Tholppavakkoothu, traditional leather shadow puppetry from Kerala, a southern state within India, has long been performed in temples as a sacred ritual. This ritual art form was a male-dominated performance in which ideas regarding physical purity (in connection with menstruating female bodies) excluded women from participating. Such patriarchal codifications were challenged when Pentholppavakkoothu, an all-women leather puppetry troupe, emerged in 2021, as it not only took the art outside temple premises but enabled the participation of women in the making and performance of the art. This article addresses feminist reflexivity and researcher positionality in ethnographic fieldwork with undocumented Ugandan women sex workers in Istanbul’s Tarlabaşı and Aksaray neighborhoods. Drawing on fourteen months of immersive research, including participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and reflexive journaling, the study examines how both the researcher and participants engaged in strategic forms of resistance within racialized and gendered urban spaces. The analysis is grounded in a feminist epistemological framework that draws on Kandiyoti’s notion of patriarchal bargaining and Scott’s theory of hidden transcripts. This study examined rural banditry in North Central Nigeria, focusing on women’s experiences in affected communities. The study specifically looked at women’s experiences with poor health, sexual violence, and physical harm caused by rural banditry and militancy in the study area. The study employs Kate Millet’s feminist theory of patriarchal power and structure to frame its theoretical standpoint. Four hundred women informants were selected through stratified random and purposive sampling techniques, and data were obtained using a questionnaire and eight in-depth interviews. This article analyses the degree to which Jordanian penal legislation conforms to international human rights standards regarding the protection of women from violence, specifically the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the United Nations Bangkok Rules. Jordan has implemented legislative reforms targeting gender-based violence; however, these reforms are incomplete, disjointed, and frequently misaligned with international standards. This article critically analyzes conflict-related systematic sexual violence (CRSV) within the frameworks of international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions and the 1977 Additional Protocols. Moving beyond viewing CRSV as an isolated atrocity, it situates sexual violence within the historical and political roots of conflict, using case studies from the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Syrian Arab Republic. The analysis demonstrates how sexual violence operates as a weapon within exploitative wartime economies, where institutional collapse and illicit resource networks enable the commodification and control of women’s bodies. Through qualitative interviews with Ukrainian women who migrated to South Tyrol, Italy before and after the 2022 Russian invasion, this paper explores the experiences, motivations, challenges, and integration strategies of these migrants. Findings highlight the gendered nature of migration, as Ukrainian women often face occupational downgrading, in which they are forced to work in low-skilled sectors due to language barriers, bureaucratic hurdles, and labour market discrimination. Social integration remains a challenge particularly among post-war arrivals. Unlike other Orthodox Christian migrant groups, respondents report weak communal solidarity, although individual acts of support from local organizations and colleagues mitigate isolation. Documented individuals who do not live in conflict zones can usually access and use their records to migrate, begin new careers, enroll their children in educational institutions, and gain access to healthcare through mostly routine record-related procedures. Self-efficacy—the belief in one’s capacity to organize and carry out actions to reach goals—predicts persistence, strategic behavior, and academic outcomes (Bandura, 1997). For students with dyslexia, recurring experiences of effortful reading and peer comparison can suppress self-efficacy and elevate anxiety (Humphrey & Mullins, 2002; Nalavany et al., 2017). Research consistently links dyslexia with higher rates of internalizing symptoms such as anxiety and depression, alongside modifiable correlates including self-beliefs, coping, and school connectedness—promising leverage points for educators and families (Livingston et al., 2018).

This study investigated the influence of synthetic sulfenimides on biodiesel–diesel fuel blends. Three previously synthesized sulfenimide derivatives were structurally characterized using spectroscopic techniques. We evaluated their antioxidant properties through phosphomolybdenum activity and reducing power capacity assays. The tested fuel samples were designated as D100, B10D90, B10D90_AA (ascorbic acid), B10D90_3, B10D90_2, and B10D90_1. The effect of adding 2000 ppm of the additive was measured using an Oxifast instrument following the ASTM D7545 standard, and the results were compared to those of the chemical antioxidant ascorbic acid. Lanthanum metal complexes were synthesized using a classical condensation method by reacting lanthanum nitrate salts with a bidentate ligand in a 1:2:1 molar ratio (M:L:L). The formation and structure of the resulting complexes were confirmed through a combination of analytical techniques, including Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, elemental microanalysis, and scanning electron microscopy. The lanthanum complexes synthesized exhibited strong in vitro antimicrobial activity. Antibacterial screening showed inhibition zones of 18–26 mm against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, surpassing those of the reference drug ciprofloxacin (16–20 mm). Antifungal studies demonstrated inhibition zones of 15–23 mm against Candida …

Majorities support proposed reforms to ICE, including prohibiting ICE agents from entering schools or churches, covering their faces, or making arrests without a judicial warrant, but Bay Staters are more divided on calls to abolish the agency entirely. Less than a quarter of Bay Staters approve of President Trump's handling of immigration or his overall job performance.

Bridges are critical components of transportation networks, and fire accidents can significantly impair their structural integrity, leading to safety risks and major economic losses. This study presents a comprehensive inspection, materials testing, repair, and field load testing program for a full-scale concrete box girder bridge (Delta Bridge, Alexandria, Egypt) following a fire exposure on two spans. A total of 28 concrete core samples were extracted and tested, revealing average compressive strengths of 48.50 MPa (slab), 53.90 MPa (web), and 45.88 MPa (columns), representing moderate reductions of approximately 8.5%, 7.9%, and 10.8%, respectively, relative to the original in situ concrete strength …

Policy innovation labs (PILs) are established globally to address complex public challenges. PILS are distinguished by their focus on fostering innovation, promoting collaborative co-design, and engaging in experimentation. The current literature highlights structural characteristics that define PILs, such as their source of funding, their autonomy from government agencies, and the tools that are utilized. This paper provides a dynamic perspective by focusing on the institutional logics of PILs, which are socially constructed patterns of symbols, practices, values, and beliefs that guide decision-making and shape organizational behavior. Two-component systems (TCS) are widespread signal transduction pathways that enable bacteria to sense and respond to environmental changes with precision. TCS are fundamentally important to prokaryotes because they provide a rapid and efficient means of converting environmental stimuli into coordinated cellular responses. Unlike eukaryotes, which rely on multilayered signaling cascades and compartmentalized organelles, bacteria must interpret and react to changing conditions directly at the cell envelope. TCS allow prokaryotes to detect shifts in nutrients, osmolarity, pH, redox status, host-derived antimicrobials or competing microbes. A multiscale computational investigation integrating density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations was conducted to elucidate the mechanisms through which sulfur-containing donor molecules stabilize the photoactive α-phase of formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3) perovskites. The binding energetics, charge-transfer behavior, and hydrogen-bonding interactions of thiourea (TU), thiosemicarbazide (TSC), thiocyanate (SCN–), and diethyldithiocarbamate (DTC) were systematically analyzed. DFT results revealed pronounced Pb–S coordination and multidentate hydrogenbonding, with binding energies following the trend SCN–>TSC>DTC>TU. CaMoO4:Eu3+-functionalized hydroxyapatite–silica (HAp–SiO2–CaMoO4:Eu3+) core–shell nanocomposites were synthesized for the first time and evaluated as a multifunctional drug delivery and imaging platform. HAp–SiO2 nanocomposites were prepared via a hydrothermal route and subsequently functionalized with a luminescent CaMoO4:Eu3+ shell using the Pechini sol–gel method. Structural analyses confirmed the successful coexistence of HAp, SiO2, and CaMoO4:Eu3+ phases, while electron microscopy revealed spherical core–shell morphologies. Dynamic light scattering measurements showed average hydrodynamic particle sizes of approximately 1085 nm for HAp–SiO2 and 1427 nm for HAp–SiO2–CaMoO4:Eu3+ nanocomposites, indicating particle clustering in aqueous media, which is consistent with the low surface charge of the particles. The integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into Supply Chain Management (SCM) has accelerated rapidly. However, limited understanding exists on how GenAI-enabled capabilities should be prioritised to create sustained value. Existing research predominantly describes applications but overlooks the hierarchical structure of underlying capabilities required for effective adoption. In response, this study develops a capability-oriented framework grounded in the Task Technology Fit (TTF) perspective. Cook Inlet has been the primary source of natural gas for Southcentral Alaska for more than half a century, but while substantial gas remains in the subsurface, the portion that is physically, technically, economically, and socially available at prevailing prices is considerably smaller. This report evaluates regional availability using a four-dimensional resource framework, reconciles competing estimates of remaining reserves and resources, and considers implications for future supply security, with particular emphasis on economic availability and the prices required to make extraction profitable.
