In cancer diagnosis, machine learning helps improve cancer detection by providing doctors with a second perspective and allowing for faster and more accurate determination and decisions. Numerous studies have used both classic machine learning approaches and deep learning to address cancer classification. In this study, we examine the efficacy of five commonly used machine learning algorithms; both traditional and deep learning models namely, Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines (SVM), Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree and Deep Neural Networks (DNN). We analyze their ability to properly classify tumors as Benign or Malignant using the Wisconsin breast cancer dataset (WBCD). Random Forest …

Journal of Bioresource Management

Dof (DNA binding with one finger) proteins constitute highly ubiquitous transcription factor gene families that are found across all plant species, playing crucial role in fruit ripening, organ development, and other activities. A comprehensive genome-wide analysis of the coffee genome uncovered 49 CaDof genes, which were described in terms of their gene structures, phylogenetic relationships, subcellular localization, gene duplication, and expression in various plant organs. In Coffea arabica, segmental duplication outnumbered tandem duplication. Expressed sequence tags were used to determine the expression of specific organs in CaDof genes. Most genes showed high expression in fruits at various stages, in …

Journal of Bioresource Management

The present study was conducted to compare the performance and behavior of Fayoumi and Rhode Island Red poultry breeds. A total of forty-two birds at 26 weeks of age, with thirty-six females and six males from each breed, were distributed into 6 groups with one male and six females each. All the experimental groups were reared in separate partitions with provisions of nests, feeders, and drinkers under proper management conditions. The results of the current study revealed that Rhode Island Red chickens showed significantly higher (P < 0.05) body weight, egg weight, daily egg production, eggshell thickness, and other quality parameters compared to Fayoumi chickens. It was also noted that Rhode Island Red chickens consumed less feed and gained heavier bodies with higher egg production than Fayoumi chickens. There was a non-significant difference in feed intake between both breeds. Rhode Island Red chickens produced eggs with better shell quality and higher breaking strength compared to Fayoumi chickens. In conclusion, the Rhode Island Red chicken breed is better in terms of body weight, egg performance, and feed efficiency compared to Fayoumi chickens.

Feed Nutritional Quality In The Panicum Maximum And Chloris Gayana Grasses, Muhammad Jamil, Hadia Gul, Mubarik Ali, Muhammad Zeeshan, Basit Munir, Maria Asghar, Norina Jabeen

Journal of Bioresource Management

Globally, freshwater scarcity and deterioration of groundwater quantity and quality are becoming more of a problem. The number of crops that can be effectively cultivated is limited because of the effects. The improved pasture species, Panicum maximum and Rhodes grass (Chloris gayana), have been progressively farmed due to its high dry matter production, favourable cultivation economics, and superiority over other grasses. This aspect needs a thorough understanding of the feed quality of various grasses. The primary goal of this review is to judge the quality and quantity of C. gayana and P. maximum. Total dry matter …

Copper and zinc play a very important role in plant development, but exposure at higher concentrations causes severe toxic effects. Copper (Cu) is an essential element for plants as it is involved in the synthesis of ATP and CO2 assimilation, while zinc (Zn) stimulates several enzymes and is necessary for the biosynthesis of chlorophyll. The present research appraised the Cu and Zn concentrations in water, soil, forages (Trifolium repens, Cynodon dactylon, Lolium perenne, and Festuca arundinacea), milk, and hair samples of buffaloes. The samples were collected from the selected sites of Tehsil Bhalwal Punjab, Pakistan, and analyzed through an …

Best Interests Of The Child In Juvenile Justice: Analysis Of Malaysia, Philippines, And Thailand, Mary Grace C. Agcaoili

Asia-Pacific Social Science Review

The “best interests of the child” (BIC) is the most referenced child rights principle in international law, whereas juvenile justice is the most mentioned topic. This paper examines how countries in Southeast Asia (SEA) interpret BIC in juvenile justice and if their understanding is consistent with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and other international standards and why. It contends that BIC’s indeterminate use led to misinterpretation of child rights and that BIC interpretation is influenced by several factors found within the socio-cultural and political economy of SEA. Using Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand as case studies …

Administration Of Vitamin D3 Topical In Increasing Serum Vitamin D Level: A Literature Review, He Yeon Asva Nafaisa, Fajar Waskito, Ronny Martien, Retno Danarti

Journal of General - Procedural Dermatology and Venereology Indonesia

Background: Vitamin D is an essential fat-soluble vitamin that is required daily by the body. Deficiency in vitamin D is experienced by most of the world's population. Vitamin D plays a role in maintaining the skin barrier by regulating keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation, promoting filaggrin formation, and intraepidermal lipids.

Discussion: The vital role of vitamin D, non-compliance with supplement consumption, and poor nutritional status of adult patients and the elderly with deficiency and insufficiency of vitamin D encourage studies regarding vitamin D delivery via the transdermal route. The lipophilicity of vitamin D allows it to penetrate through the skin barrier. …

School of Biological and Marine Sciences

Heavy metal toxicity is a real threat to the environment, crop productivity, and the health of humans and their animals, especially when the toxicity enters the food chain. This study investigates the effect of cadmium on the physiological and molecular levels of ten introduced wheat genotypes. Genotypes were stressed by cadmium (75 mg.L-1) in comparison with unstressed treatment to highlight their response to the cadmium. The experiment was laid out as a factorial arrangement in RCBD, with three replicates. The genotypes included in this study varied in their response to cadmium stress during the laboratory tests. Notably, genotype …
