Introduction. The mortality rate of COVID-19 patients in Indonesia is high with manifestations of cardiac complications. Echocardiographic evaluation can help identify cardiac functional and structural disorders associated with patient mortality. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between echocardiographic abnormalities and mortality in severe and critical COVID-19 patients.

Methods. A retrospective cohort study was conducted using medical record data of severe and critical COVID-19 patients at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital Jakarta during March 2020 to April 2021. Even after nasopharyngeal Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) swab investigation revealed no COVID-19 infection, some individuals continue to have long COVID symptoms. According to a research published in 2022, 4.5 – 36.6% of patients had symptoms following a COVID-19 infection more than three months. Long COVID symptoms may impact multiple organ systems, including the cardiovascular system. Chest pain, palpitations, arrhythmia, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and other symptoms are possible appeared in long COVID. D-Dimer, echocardiography, CT scan, cMRI and other supportive test showed meaningful results. The researchers developed a deep learning-based smart healthcare monitoring system based on IoT and cloud technology. The proposed system integrates IoT sensors for real-time collection of physiological data, such as ECG, blood pressure, and heart rate, with cloud computing for secure storage and advanced analytics. Utilizing the Bi-LSTM model with fuzzy inference systems (FIS), the framework enhances the accuracy and efficiency of heart disease prediction. Long COVID (LC) is characterized by prolonged, diverse symptoms affecting multiple organ systems, including but not limiting to the immune, neurological, and cardiovascular systems. This mini review explores the biological abnormalities underpinning LC, focusing on immune dysregulation, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction as key contributors to its persistence. Recent studies indicate that LC may involve sustained elevation of pro-inflammatory cytokines, autoimmunity, and T-cell exhaustion, all of which perpetuate a state of low-grade chronic inflammation. Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the leading form of liver cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. Exosomes in the HCC microenvironment can induce significant changes in natural killer (NK) cells during endocytosis. The present study aimed to distinguish exosomes in the blood of HCC patients, analyze changes in NK cell phenotype, and evaluate peroxidase and toluidine blue staining as alternative methods for observing the changes.

Abortifacient disorders in small ruminants present a serious problem for livestock farmers, leading to financial losses and lower production rates. This review examines both infectious and non-infectious factors that cause abortions in goats (Capra hircus) and sheep (Ovis aries), which are crucial animals in rural farming practices. Infectious causes, such as bacteria (Brucella melitensis, Chlamydia abortus, Coxiella burnetii), viruses (bluetongue, border disease), and parasites (Toxoplasma gondii), are major factors in reproductive health problems, resulting in considerable livestock losses. This project plans to compare and contrast wetlands in northeast Texas and western Louisiana within the Mississippi River basin through sampling avian, fish, macroinvertebrate, amphibian, and reptile communities as well as hydrology, soil chemistry, and periphyton/algae biomass. The portion of the project that this study focuses on evaluated the fish and macroinvertebrate assemblages and their relationships within easement, natural and agricultural wetland types. Hypertension is a prevalent cardiovascular condition that significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Effective management is essential to prevent severe complications. Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) and red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) are two medicinal plants known for their antihypertensive properties. Inadequate management of chemotherapy-induced side effects, including nausea and vomiting, can impact the healing response of cancer patients. Ondansetron, a preferred medication for the treatment, is classified as a biopharmaceutic classification system (BCS) class II drug, which limits its bioavailability. To enhance its solubility, sodium starch glycolate (SSG) and pregelatinized starch (PG) are used as super disintegrants. This study investigates the impact of these super disintegrants on ondansetron dissolution and identifies the optimal formulation. In 2022, Indonesia experienced a public health crisis involving acute kidney failure in children, traced to paracetamol syrup contaminated with ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol. This underscores the urgent need for safer antipyretic alternatives. This study investigates the antipyretic potential of transdermal patches formulated with ethanol extract of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) leaves sourced from Srandakan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Extract concentrations of 0.8%, 1.0%, and 1.2% were tested, alongside a negative control (no extract) and a positive control (paracetamol). Social anxiety disorder (SAD) affects 1% to 13% of adolescents, often placing significant demands on their caregivers. Mothers frequently adapt their behaviors to accommodate their child’s anxiety, which may impact their well-being and the parent-child relationship. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of mothers accommodating adolescents with SAD to understand better the emotional and relational toll of this caregiving role. The problem addressed is the limited understanding of how maternal accommodation affects mothers. Mental health practitioners, educators, and policymakers may benefit from this research by gaining insight into these families' challenges and informing family-centered interventions and support services. Use-dependent spike broadening (UDSB) results from inactivation of the voltage-gated K+ (Kv) channels that regulate the repolarization of the action potential. However, the specific signaling and molecular processes that modulate UDSB have remained elusive. Here, we applied an adeno-associated viral vector approach and dynamic clamping to conclusively demonstrate how multisite phosphorylation of the N-terminal inactivation domain (NTID) of the Kv3.4 channel modulates UDSB in rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. The Kv3.4 phosphonull variant promotes slow recovery from inactivation, cumulative inactivation, and UDSB. A system and method to control the Na/K pumps for the treatment or prevention of muscle fatigue by applying a synchronization modulation electric field that is effective in synchronizing the Na/K pumps down to individual steps throughout the pumping cycle, thereby synthesizing one ATP for each pumping cycle.
