Purpose: Neuroma formation is a notable complication that can occur following amputation. Newer techniques are proving to be successful in preventing neuroma formation by providing the proximal nerve segment with an end organ to help with organized growth. Redirecting arterial blood flow to the nerve endings may be an effective mechanism of preventing neuroma formation. The aim of this study was to demonstrate that by coapting the proximal end of a transected nerve with a functional artery as a vascular end organ, neuroma formation can be prevented. Advaita Vedanta is seen as something of an authoritative source for nondual philosophies and theories of consciousness that postulate a pure featureless awareness at the base of mental experience. These approaches deviate from both the lineage-based teachings of Advaita Vedanta and the necessary standards of science, constructing compromises that fall short of traditional fidelity and psychological rigor. Dialogues between psychology and Advaita Vedanta need to delineate clearly between a sensate phenomenology of experience and spiritual interpretations that may be implicit within experiential descriptions.

This study sought to clarify the underlying mechanisms behind mental illness stigma. Using a sample of 303 adults from the general population, participants completed a series of online self-reports in response to a vignette about “Harry,” an individual who was described as either Black or White, with schizophrenia or depression. Respondents answered questions regarding perceptions of dangerousness, causal attributions of mental illness, and endorsement of stigmatizing beliefs, and also provided narratives for Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) cards that were coded using the Social Cognition and Object Relations Scale (SCORS). The aim of this project was to gain a better understanding of whether survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CTQ) are more prone to enduring higher levels of relationship-centered relationship obsessive-compulsive disorder (ROCI) symptoms. This project also examined whether mental contamination (VOCI-MC) influenced the relationship between CTQ and ROCI and if this impact was dependent on levels of betrayal trauma. It was hypothesized that betrayal trauma (BQ) would moderate the mediating effect of VOCI-MC on CRQ and ROCI symptoms. This paper proposes 24 axioms that form a basis for understanding and analyzing sociotechnical and totally automated work systems in organizational settings. The introduction identifies reasons for trying to develop axioms of that type. Two background sections compare axioms with other types of “knowledge objects”, illustrate the minimal presence of axioms in the IS discipline, define the domain of relevance for the axioms discussed here, and explain the process of developing those axioms. Researchers identified a gap in literature and suggested the need for further study by parents from all ethnic groups regarding their perceptions of their children’s school readiness. The participants in this qualitative study were Hmong female primary caregivers with low socioeconomic status. The purpose of the study was to gain insights into their beliefs about the significance of the kindergarten transition, assess their children’s readiness to transition to kindergarten, and determine their children’s preparedness for the kindergarten transition. The manifestation of these symptoms is due to the inability of chloride ions to diffuse out of the cell. Thus, preventing osmosis resulting in a thick mucus on the lung’s surface. Those who suffer from this disease have difficulty breathing and require a modulator with a vest to increase gas exchange in the lungs. Pregnancy is a vulnerable time with significant cardiovascular changes that can lead to adverse outcomes, which can extend into the postpartum window. Exposure to emissions from electronic cigarettes (Ecig), commonly known as "vaping," has an adverse impact on cardiovascular function during pregnancy and post-natal life of offspring, but the postpartum effects on maternal health are poorly understood. We used a Sprague Dawley rat model, where pregnant dams are exposed to Ecigs between gestational day (GD)2-GD21 to examine postpartum consequences. This dissertation explores how anti-immigration and anti-(trans)gender campaigns in the United States engage in an identity politics in which a group benefiting from heteronormative, white supremacist, and nationalist social structures discursively positions itself as an oppressed minority facing an elitist, oppressive, and parasitic establishment. While anti-transgender and anti-immigration platforms represent two distinct issues, they need to be situated within the broader context of right-wing politics. Therapies capable of resolving inflammatory lung disease resulting from high-consequence occupational/environmental hazards are lacking. This study seeks to determine the therapeutic potential of direct lung-delivered interleukin (IL)-10 following repeated lipopolysaccharide exposures. C57BL/6 mice were intratracheally instilled with LPS (10 μg) and treated with IL-10 (1 μg) or vehicle control for 3 days. Lung cell infiltrates were enumerated by flow cytometry. Lung sections were stained for myeloperoxidase (MPO), CCR2, vimentin, and post-translational protein citrullination (CIT) and malondialdehyde-acetaldehyde (MAA) modifications. Lung function testing and longitudinal in vivo micro-CT imaging were performed. Whole lungs were profiled using bulk RNA sequencing. IL-10 treatment reduced …

Despite growing diversity in the U.S. population, Black women remain underrepresented in healthcare leadership roles. Barriers including limited access to mentorship, systemic bias, and financial constraints, contribute to disparities in career advancement. This research examines the role of culturally competent mentorship programs in addressing these barriers and fostering a diverse healthcare workforce. Drawing from peer-reviewed literature, workforce development models, and Critical Race Theory, this review highlights the impact of mentorship on professional retention, leadership development, and the quality of healthcare delivery in marginalized communities. Glyphosate-based herbicides (GBHs) such as Roundup® are used extensively worldwide, yet their potential to disrupt fish sensory physiology has remained relatively unexplored. Previous studies have established that glyphosate exposure can induce various neurotoxic effects in fish and other vertebrates—ranging from oxidative stress to altered neurotransmitter systems and anxiogenic-like responses. Despite these documented impacts, no published research has directly assessed whether glyphosate compromises auditory function in fish.

For decades, courts have grappled with the tension between compensating victims of mass harms and maintaining fairness to defendants when causation is difficult to prove. This Article argues that the Supreme Court’s due process jurisprudence provides a relevant framework for navigating this tension. We contend that the Court over the last three decades has established a consistent due process approach in punitive damages and personal jurisdiction cases, which is rooted in antecedents tracing to the nineteenth century and relies on a nexus of interests that balances individual rights, state interests, and federalism concerns. • Salmonella Typhimurium utilizes a Type Three Secretion System (T3SS) encoded on Salmonella Pathogenicity Island 1 (SPI1) to invade host intestinal cells.
• The T3SS is a needle-like structure that penetrates intestinal cells and injects effector proteins into the cell's cytoplasm to induce uptake of Salmonella.
• Expression of the T3SS is controlled by HilA, which is in turn regulated by three transcriptional regulators: HilD, RtsA, and HilC (Fig. 1B). HilD is the main regulator of HilA.
• FliZ is a regulator of flagellar genes which also post-translationally controls the protein activity of HilD. FliZ induction increases activation of the hilA promoter.

The prevalence of depression in society underscores the need for awareness and support, particularly within Pentecostal communities, where depression remains underexplored. While studies suggest how the Christian context shapes depression, the literature lacks depth about the relationship between Pentecostalism and depression. This gap risks fostering misconceptions, marginalizing sufferers, and allowing dominant voices to impose stigmatizing interpretations that discourage external help and reinforce unrealistic norms. These repercussions emphasize the need to research the relationship between Pentecostalism and depression to address stigma, create supportive environments, and ensure that sufferers retain ownership of their mental health narratives. Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes (Crotalus adamanteus; EDBs) are a declining species endemic to the Southeastern Coastal Plain. Reproduction is costly for females, which are ovoviviparous, slow to mature, reproduce infrequently, and are often emaciated after parturition. Yet, we have a limited understanding of the trade-offs associated with their reproductive biology. Should Medical Assisted Suicide Be Legalised Worldwide? A Critical Examination Of Ethical Justifications And Challenges In Contemporary Healthcare, Eleanor Roy, Amir Arshia Emam Jomeh

The legalisation of medical assisted suicide (MAS) is a complex ethical issue at the intersection of autonomy, non-maleficence, and justice. This paper critically examines whether MAS should be legalised worldwide, evaluating ethical justifications, regulatory challenges, and societal risks. A primary argument in favour of MAS is patient autonomy, allowing individuals to make informed end-of-life decisions, particularly in cases of terminal illness and intractable suffering. MAS is also framed as a harm-reduction strategy, preventing patients from resorting to unsafe methods of suicide.
