The objectives of this project were to record the diversity and distribution of amphibian and reptile species present at Panther Swamp and Hillside National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) and to quantify trapping efficacy as a result of various methodologies under different habitat variables. The primary methods employed were two varieties of drift fence trap arrays consisting of 100-foot sections of silt fencing with buried 2.5-gallon buckets as pitfall traps and box traps placed at the end of each fence to capture larger organisms. This thesis examines the imagined geography of Patrick Rothfuss’ The Slow Regard of Silent Things. Through textual analysis, it investigates how fictional spaces can be mapped, the significance of toponyms (i.e., place-names), and the broader implications for literary and geographic studies. Of the fifty-two (52) toponyms analyzed, thirty-eight (38) were meaningfully identified using the text and the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), revealing deliberate naming schemes associated with function, emotion, or symbolism. They neglect emerging spaces like TikTok, the short-form video app, which has become an unexpected hub for political discourse. This study test Melissa Harris-Perry's "everyday talk" framework to analyze the political utility of this new digital space. Through analysis of 271 posts across TikTok, Twitter/X, and Truth Social, the research reveals how platforms simultaneously enable and constrain political discourse. This study aimed to investigate LGBTQ+ childhood maltreatment, its reporting generally, and the impact of religion on reporting. It was hypothesized that LGBTQ+ youth will experience more maltreatment than their non-LGBTQ+ peers; among those who experienced maltreatment, LGBTQ+ youth will be less likely to receive help or have reports made; and those from more religious families will be less likely to have received help or had their maltreatment reported. ABSTRACT Objectives: To analyze hematological parameters for potential predictive markers of dengue. Methods: Blood samples were obtained from 146 individuals suspected of having dengue at 2 hospitals in Jazan, Saudi Arabia. Control samples were concurrently collected from healthy adults (n=59). Samples were screened for anti-dengue antibodies by employing enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Hematological parameters, such as hemoglobin (HGB), white blood cells, hematocrit (HCT), platelets count, and red blood cells (RBCs) levels were determined for the dengue positive samples and all the controls. This research examines firm-on-firm activism, defined as public, coercive actions taken by corporations against another corporation to influence them socio-politically. I investigate how consumers evaluate this emerging form of corporate activism using costly signaling theory. I propose that consumers will perceive firm-on-firm activism as more authentic due to the financial and nonfinancial costs incurred by the firm, ultimately leading to increased consumer support. Recent research has shown the widespread prevalence of psychological distress. Religion can operate both as a resource as well as a problem or barrier to good mental health. Given that some individuals attribute mental distress to religious or spiritual causes, such as punishment from God or demonic involvement, this research examines how these beliefs influence emotional regulation and mental health outcomes. The study surveyed 1,304 participants, including 686 undergraduate students and 618 online participants, to assess their religious attributions, psychological flexibility, and level of distress. The blastocyst faces significant immunological challenges during implantation, including heightened inflammation, which can contribute to implantation failure. Trophoblast stem cells (TSCs) and their differentiated forms (TSC-TBs), derived from the trophectoderm (TE) of the blastocyst, play a crucial role in immune modulation. Previous studies suggest that interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) derived from TSC and TSC-TB provide antiviral protection to embryonic stem cells (ESCs). These findings show indication of a potential antiviral role for placental progenitors in shielding the blastocyst.
