Distinct Populations Of Lung Capillary Endothelial Cells And Their Functional Significance, Joel James, Dan Yi, Zhiyu Dai, Et Al.
2020-Current year OA Pubs
The role of the lung's microcirculation and capillary endothelial cells in normal physiology and the pathobiology of pulmonary diseases is obviously vital. The recent discovery of molecularly distinct aerocytes and general capillary (gCaps) endothelial cells by single-cell transcriptomics (scRNAseq) advanced the field in understanding microcirculatory milieu and cellular communications. However, increasing evidence from different groups indicated the possibility of a more heterogeneous nature of lung capillaries. Therefore, we investigated enriched lung endothelial cells by scRNAseq and identified five novel populations of gCaps with distinct molecular signatures and roles. Our analysis suggests that two major populations of gCaps that express Scn7a(Na

Virus filtration is an essential unit operation used to validate clearance of adventitious virus during the manufacture of biopharmaceutical products such as monoclonal antibodies. Obtaining at least a 10,000-fold reduction in virus particles in the permeate is challenging as monoclonal antibodies are about half the size of the virus particles. Minute virus of mice, FDA-recommended model adventitious virus, was labeled with a fluorescent dye. Laser scanning confocal microscopy was used to determine the location of virus entrapment within the virus filtration membrane. Three different hollow fiber membranes made of regenerated cellulose and polyvinylidene fluoride were tested. Feed streams consisted of …

Almaaqal Journal of Sustainability and Emerging Technology
This study presents a statistically optimal approach for bioethanol production from sugarcane bagasse (SCB) using alkaline pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, and fermentation processes. To maximize cellulose yield, four extraction parameters—solvent type, concentration, temperature, and time—were optimized using a Taguchi statistical model. The Taguchi-optimized extraction yields 11.3% increased cellulose recovery relative to cellulose recovered via non-optimized extraction methods (i.e., alkaline treatment with 6% NaOH at 90 °C for 3 hours). This yielded 45.20% cellulose (w/w), with 37.80% weight loss (predicted weight loss was 36.94%). Statistical analysis of extraction results verified solvent type (p = 0.0022) and temperature (p = 0.0007) to be …

Utilization Of Dual Catalysts For High-Yield Boron Nitride Nanotube Synthesis Via Chemical Vapor Deposition, Şaban Kalay
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
The direct synthesis of boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) in high-temperature furnaces remains highly challenging due to difficulties in optimizing key experimental parameters such as synthesis temperature and catalyst composition. These challenges often result in uncontrolled growth behavior, adversely affecting the quality and yield of the BNNTs. In this study, colemanite was effectively utilized as a boron source for the high-yield synthesis of directionally aligned BNNTs. The synthesis was carried out using a CVD method that used a dual-catalyst system comprising Fe2O3 and MgO in conjunction with a silicon carbide template under high-temperature conditions. The resulting …

Bioorganometallic Tagging Of N-Acetylhistamine With An Fe(Co)₃ Unit: Synthesis, X-Ray Structure, And Protonation Behavior, Salah Merniz, Louiza Himed, Rofia Djerri, Belkis Akachat
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
This study highlights the potential of organometallic carbonyl complexes as selective markers for biomolecules, enabling sensitive infrared (IR) detection. The regio- and stereoselective coupling of N-acetylhistamine, a histidine analogue, with the precursor complex 1 [Fe(CO)₃(1,4-η⁵-N-pyridiniocyclohexa-1,3-diene)] BF₄ affords the labeled complex 3 [Fe(CO)₃(1,4-η⁵-N-acetylhistaminocyclohexa-1,3-diene)]. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirms the exo stereochemistry and reveals a rigid, well-defined architecture. IR and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic studies combined with IR-monitored acid–base titration demonstrate the complex’s stability in aqueous media between pH 5 and 8, alongside a modest increase in basicity relative to the free ligand. These findings establish the Fe(CO)₃ moiety as a robust …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Introduction Sleep impairments are prevalent among individuals recovering from substance use disorders (SUDs) and are associated with poorer treatment outcomes and increased relapse risk. Physical activity (PA) is known to enhance sleep in general populations, but its day-to-day effects on sleep during SUD recovery remain underexplored, especially across different recovery stages. Methods and Analysis In this observational n-of-1 study, we aim to examine within-person associations between daily PA and sleep quality in three groups of individuals at varying stages of substance use recovery (early treatment, continuing care and long-term recovery). A substudy will validate the agreement between two wearable sleepmonitoring …

Background
Polygenic risk scores (PGSs) aggregate the effects of multiple genetic variants to attribute to disease susceptibility, and have been applied to numerous complex diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, as omics and phenotypic data grow exponentially, reconciling findings across studies with differing ancestral backgrounds, study designs, and statistical methodologies remains a pressing issue. Efficiently extracting biologically relevant insights from this expanding body of data is equally challenging, especially for diseases driven by complex interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors.
Method
To address these challenges, we introduce BrainGeneBot, an AI‐driven chatbot framework that automates genetic data analysis and bridges …
