Current Nomenclature And Systematics Of Capsella Medik. With Lectotypifications:Towards Solving The Puzzle, Yelda Güzel

The taxonomic history of Capsella Medik., one of the genera with the highest phenotypic plasticity, and thus the highest synonym number relative to the recognized species number, was reviewed. The current systematics of the genus was discussed and the exact number of taxa was determined. In light of the molecular and nomenclatural data, it was decided that the genus was represented around the world by five species and one hybrid. Considering the molecular studies that have been conducted over the 30 years it was concluded that the species of this genus are typical examples of the concept of cryptic species. …

In the present study, a new species of the genus, Tripleurospermum eskilensis (Asteraceae), is described from Central Anatolia, Turkey. The new species has been collected from Eskil region in a restricted area (Aksaray Province). It grows in salty steppe, and is closely related to T. decipiens in terms of morphological characteristics. It has also been morphologically compared with discoid and disciform capitulated species in Turkey. This study includes its detailed description, diagnostic characters, original photographs, geographical distribution, habitat and ecology, conservation status, and identification key. Most species of Paraphlomis are distributed in the south of the Yangtze River in China. In this study, a new species, P. nana, from northeast Chongqing in the north of the Yangtze River is described and illustrated. Bayesian inference and maximum likelihood analyses based on two nuclear ribosomal DNA regions (ITS and ETS) and three plastid DNA markers (rpl32-trnL, rps16, and trnL-trnF) were carried out to explore the phylogenetic position of the new species within Paraphlomis. The impact of Fe2+ (iron)toxicity on genomic instability, DNA methylation status, and Long Terminal Repeat Retrotransposons (LTR RTs) polymorphisms on Zea mays is unknown. We investigated the toxicity of Fe2+ using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD), Coupled Restriction Enzyme Digestion-Random Amplification (CRED-RA) and Inter Retrotransposon Amplified Polymorphism (IRAP) assays in Zea mays seedlings, respectively. The results indicated that each dose of FeSO4 (50, 100, 200, and 300 mg/L) had a reducing effect on Genomic Template Stability (GTS) and increasing in RAPD pattern changes (DNA damage). Tribe Stachydeae with 12 genera were divided into two major clades: Melitis and Eurystachys clades consisting of all genera attributed to Stachydeae except Melittis. Recently, a broadly defined Eurystachys clade falling into 12 well-supported clades have been formally named in a phylogenetic nomenclature. In the present study, trichomes of 70 spp. from nine genera and pollens of 53 spp. from six genera were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to draw the taxonomic conclusion of tribe Stachydeae. Dianthus berkayii belongs to sect. Fimbriati was described and illustrated as a new species from Erzincan Province in Eastern Anatolia, Turkey. In the current study morphological, palynological, and molecular characters were compared and discussed with its closely related species. The new species is similar to D. crinitus with fimbriate corolla, linear, acuminate, ± rigid leaves. Also similar to D. vanensis with fimbriate corolla, linear, acuminate, ± rigid, curved divaricate leaves. Basidiomata of a hitherto undescribed Limacella species were collected from the grasslands of Punjab, Pakistan. We describe it as Limacella subtropicana, which is characterized by its viscid, white to creamy pileus, white to the creamy stipe, changing to brown when bruised, subglobose basidiospores measuring 4.0?6.3 × 3.7?5.5 ?m, an ixotrichodermal pileipellis with subcylindric to clavate terminal elements and the common presence of clamp connections in all tissues. Seaweed liquid fertilizers (SLFs) contain macronutrients, micronutrients and trace nutrients essential for microalgal growth. The study aims to evaluate the efficiency of SLFs on the biomass production, biochemical and physiological processes; and the study was carried out at different SLF concentrations of selected seaweeds i.e. Kappaphycus alvarezii, Gelidiella acerosa and Turbinaria ornata. In this study, archaeobotanical data were gathered from the Early, Middle, and Late Bronze Age layers (2400-1200 BC) of the Tatarlı Höyük exposed in the 2011?2012 excavation seasons in the Ceyhan district of Adana Province were evaluated. In 8 trenches relating to these periods, archaeological contexts such as inside areas, hearths, ovens, middens, ceramic pots, etc., as well as contexts with carbonized plant remains were recovered by using dry and wet sieving methods, corresponding in total to 90 soil samples. Inocybe viscida sp. nov., a novel species found in a forest with old trees of Pinus brutia and tertiary relict endemic Liquidambar orientalis in coastal area of southwestern Turkey, is described and illustrated. We present this new species based on morphological and molecular data from nuclear rDNA internal transcribed spacer region (ITS1-5.8SITS2 = ITS) and the portions of nuc 28S rRNA (LSU) gene. Comprehensive description, field photographs, line drawings of the microscopic features and comparisons with phenetically similar taxa and phylogenetically related species are discussed.

Fistulinella distromatica sp. nov. is described based on morphological and molecular data. It is characterized by the following features: pileus surface that is subviscid with appressed, small brownish fribrillose-squamulose; subviscid, minutely subviscid, minutely punctate stipe that is yellow at the base; the relatively large inamyloid spores; hymenial cystidia up to 70 µm long; two-layered stipitipellis with a trichodermal suprastipitipellis and interwoven substipitipellis that is interwoven in a strongly gelatinized matrix. Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) is a pseudo cereal crop, which is considered a new alternative crop due to its high nutritional value and tolerance to environmental stresses. Its seeds are rich in proteins and amino acids (e.g., lysine, threonine, and methionine) that are deficient in other pseudo-cereal crops. Marrubium zeydanlii (Lamiaceae) is described as a new species from Turkey. It is similar to M. depauperatum and M. sivasense; however, it is distinguished from M. depauperatum by having lanate hairs on the stem, oblanceolate dentate leaves, 4?6-flowered verticillasters. It is also distinguished from M. sivasense by having lanate hairs on the stem, oblanceolate leaves, and shorter petals. The aim of this study was to investigate whether vaccenic acid (VA) added to TRIS semen extender has an effect on freezing bull semen. The semen was collected at intervals of three days through an artificial vagina then pooled. Gamithromycin and tulathromycin are commonly used in the treatment of bovine respiratory bacterial diseases. The current work was undertaken to establish the apoptotic, necrotic, and cytotoxic effects of these antibiotics in the target animal. Cells with apoptosis and necrosis were determined by dual staining method, cytotoxic effects were determined by MTT assay, cell proliferative effects were examined by XCelligence real-time cell analysis system (RTCA-SP). Two fat sources, soybean oil (SO) and refined poultry oil (RPO), and 4 emulsifiers (control, lysolecithin, lysophospholipid, and bile acids) were used in this experiment. Thirteen hundred and sixty (1360) birds (ROSS - 308) were divided into 8 groups having 5 replicates, 34 birds in each. Energy efficiency, feed conversion (FCR), and protein efficiency ratios were improved in birds receiving SO than RPO diets. Weight gain, FCR, feed intake, and dressing percentage were increased in broiler birds receiving bile acid than those given lyso-phospholipid and lysolecithin (p < 0.05). Cooking loss was greater (p < 0.05) in broiler birds given RPO than those fed SO. Birds receiving bile acid had greater (p < 0.05) water holding capacity of chest meat than other fat emulsifiers. Bile acids in broiler diet presented higher (p < 0.05) digestibility of crude protein and ether extract as compared to other treatments. Bile acid supplemented diets had a minimum (p < 0.05) cost of production per kg live weight than other fat emulsifiers. Therefore, the use of bile acids with RPO diets can increase nutrient digestibility, growth performance, meat quality, and economic efficiency in broiler production systems.

Some Hematological Parameters And Enzyme Histochemistry Of Peripheral Bloodleukocytes In Kivircik Sheep, Mehmet Faruk Aydin, İhsan Kisadere

The aim of the present study was to determine some hematological parameters (RBC, WBC, HCT, HGB, MCH, MCHC, MCV, and PLT), the presence and percentages of ANAE and AcP-ase positivities in leukocytes and the differential leukocyte count in Kivircik sheep. Blood samples were taken from the jugular vein of 40 (rams = 20; ewes= 20) healthy, 1-year-old sheep. MCH and MCHC values were found statistically higher in rams than ewes (p < 0.05). Mean percentages of ANAE-positive PBL were defined as 74.16 ± 11.94% in ewes and 70.33 ± 8.39% in rams. It was not determined any significant changes according to sex. On the other hand, the percentages of ACP were determined as 67.12 ± 6.54% in ewes and 66.71 ± 6.58% in rams. It was not found any significant differences according to sex. For ANAE enzyme activity, lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophilic granulocytes showed a positive reaction. For ACP enzyme activity, although lymphocytes presented positivity, monocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils were negative. The ratio of lymphocyte, monocyte, neutrophile, eosinophile, and basophile of Kivircik ewes and rams were found as 64.35 ± 5.74%, 60.64 ± 8.85%; 3.41 ± 1.27%, 3.82 ± 1.42%; 27.58 ± 5.46%, 30.94 ± 8.71%; 2.41 ± 0.93%, 2.88 ± 1.45%; 1.76 ± 0.75%, 1.29 ± 0.58%, respectively. The difference between mean values was not found significant according to sex (p > 0.05).
