Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries are among the tropical regions with disproportionately high incidence of snakebite. Understanding the snakebite and antivenom market situation and burden of snakebite is crucial for developing evidence-based strategies to pursue the goal set by the World Health Organization (WHO) to halve morbidity and mortality of snakebite by 2030. Firstly, we systematically review 23 cost of illness studies and 3 economic evaluations. Economic burdens of snakebite were underestimated and not extensively studied. Majority of studies only provided direct costs of snakebite patients presented to the hospitals. Thus, hospital data should be used to …

Multi-Output Learning For Predicting Evaluation And Reopening Of Github Pull Requests On Open-Source Projects, Peerachai Banyongrakkul
Multi-Output Learning For Predicting Evaluation And Reopening Of Github Pull Requests On Open-Source Projects, Peerachai Banyongrakkul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
GitHub's pull-based development model is widely used by software development teams to manage software complexity. Contributors create pull requests for merging changes into the main codebase, and integrators review these requests to maintain quality and stability. However, a high volume of pull requests can overburden integrators, causing feedback delays. Previous studies have used machine learning and statistical techniques with tabular data as features, but these may lose meaningful information. Additionally, acceptance and latency may not be sufficient for the pull request evaluation. Moreover, reopened pull requests can add maintenance costs and burden already-busy developers. This thesis proposes a novel multi-output …

Innovation Process Of Amorphous Cellulose - Graphene Oxide Hybrid Structure For Water Treatment In A Shrimp Farm, Kongkiat Phuphantrakun
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Amorphous cellulose-graphene oxide bead composites are popularly employed in water purification. However, the existing fabrication methods of amorphous cellulose (AC) and amorphous cellulose-graphene oxide (ACGO) beads are complicated with many chemical use, multi-step, time and energy-consuming. In this research, we proposed an efficient method for fabricating amorphous cellulose-graphene oxide (ACGO) beads using less chemical under a simple 2-step approach. The production process of AC and ACGO beads was successfully fabricated via sulfuric acid (H2SO4) gelatinization and regeneration using eucalyptus paper as a raw material. The cellulose gel was droplet-extruded into deionized (DI) water and transformed into a solid bead via …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is a skeletal disorder affecting the skull, teeth, and clavicles, and is associated with the RUNX2 variants. We identified the five variants from five families, three were novel, comprising c.739delA (p.(Ser247Valfs*)), c.901C>T (p.(Gln301*)), and c.1081C>T (p.(Gln361*)) and two were reported, comprising c.673C>T (p.Arg225Trp) and c.674G>A (p.Arg225Gln). All patients exhibited typical CCD features, but we observed the unreported phenotypes, left forth-ray brachymetatarsia. Moreover, we reviewed the C-terminus RUNX2 variants in the CCD patients and found 81 variants that have been reported. To determine, the pathomechanism of CCD caused by the variants in the C-terminus, …

Micro-Computed Tomography Analysis Of Bone Regeneration Using Mrna Encoding Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 With Implant Placement In Rat Femur, Nopparada Lawtrakulngam
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) has a potential for enhancing bone regeneration and osseointegration around implant materials. However, the drawback of rhBMP-2 protein delivery is instability. Therefore, high doses of rhBMP-2 need to be used clinically, which results in higher costs and more side effects. Although gene-based therapy, can overcome these limitations. Recent clinical studies on BMP-2 mRNA regarding bone regeneration around implant materials are lacking. This study aims to investigate the differences in bone regeneration after implant placement with or without mRNA encoding BMP-2 (m1ᴪ-BMP-2 mRNA) in micro-computed tomography analysis after implant placement in rat femur defects. Forty implant titanium …

Human Epidermal Growth Factor Release From Hyaluronic Acid-Based Platforms Towards In Vitro Expansion Of Salivary Gland Cells, Toan Phan Van
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Off-the-shelf recombinant growth factors are increasingly used as signaling cues to optimize organoid biofabrication and shorten the in vitro culture time. These factors are mainly produced in prokaryotic systems but lack post-translational modifications. To overcome such limitations and the high production costs related to these common systems, plant molecular farming is a novel, easy adaptable and feasible alternative. Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a known signaling cue essential for epithelial organogenesis and organoid biofabrication particularly in exocrine glands. This study aims to develop an EGF delivery in vitro platform with Nicotiana benthamiana plant-derived EGF (P-EGF) encapsulated on hyaluronic acid/alginate (HA/Alg) …

Accuracy Assessment Of 3d Tooth Reconstruction With Novel Segmentation Technique, Thanatchaporn Permwatanachai
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In modern medicine, three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction has innovative new applications by building cost-effective patient-specific surgical models and prostheses. Concurrently, 3D reconstruction is useful in dental and maxillofacial disciplines for pre-operative planning and surgical simulation. During the 3D reconstruction process, one of the significant procedures is segmentation, which involves extracting interesting structures from undesirable surroundings. In this case, if the digital segmentation is inaccurate, the physical model generated by the virtual model will not properly represent anatomy of the structure, resulting in a discordance between treatment plan and outcome. The study aims to assess the segmental accuracy of the new threshold-based …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
At present, the production of gamma-valerolactone (GVL) from renewable energy sources is gaining a lot of attention as GVL can be used to produce green chemicals and is environmentally friendly. In addition, can also be used as a fuel additive, organic solvents in the food industry, and pharmaceutical intermediates. The production of gamma-valerolactone directly from furfuryl alcohol in a single reactor is of great interest because it reduces the use of solvents number of production units, and the cost of producing a continuous reaction is carried out in a single reactor using secondary alcohols as a hydrogen donor was investigated …

Impact Of Calcium Ion (Ca2+) On Pectin Wall Material For Microencapsulated Lactobacillus Plantarum, Nurul Hasniah
Impact Of Calcium Ion (Ca2+) On Pectin Wall Material For Microencapsulated Lactobacillus Plantarum, Nurul Hasniah
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The microencapsulation, a promising technology, could preserve the probiotic viability during processing, storage, and delivery to gastrointestinal tract through the wall layer. However, the loss of probiotic depends on heat/stress-susceptibility of culture themselves and the microencapsulating efficiency of wall materials. The selection of wall material composition is very challenging. Maltodextrin (MD) is mostly selected for the microencapsulating application because of its low price, rapid water solubilization, and low viscosity. MD functions as a good medium but not stabilizer for culture. Pectin is the most abundant biopolymer, found in plant cell. Pectin itself is a good gelation agent so it could …
