Introduction: Immediate and emergency care is essential to athletic training education and clinical practice. Athletic training students (ATS) may have limited exposure to emergencies during their clinical experiences, which can undermine their confidence. AT educators can improve ATS confidence and clinical reasoning using a simulation-based, learner-centered SNAPPS approach. Introduction: The timed single-leg step-down (SLSD) test is widely used in clinical and sports settings to assess lower extremity function and injury risk, yet the specific biomechanical determinants of performance on this test remain poorly understood. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between performance on the timed SLSD test and hip and knee biomechanics captured by a markerless 3-D motion-analysis system. Methods: Twenty (20) healthy high school athletes with no recent history of lower extremity injury completed a 60-second timed single leg step down test. The progression of diseases such as cancer has been correlated with tissue stiffness. For example, breast cancer tissue has been found to be stiffer than healthy mammary tissue. At present, stiffness measurement devices are not suitable for nondestructive, high-resolution measurements on small, delicate samples. We report a compact, portable, and sensitive fiber optic stress sensor that overcomes many of these limitations and is suitable for soft materials such as tissue. BackgroundThe presence of artificial structures in our marine environments is increasing rapidly, with negative impacts for biodiversity. Greening of grey infrastructure (GGI) - an eco-engineering method applied to the marine context - aims to increase the ecological value of traditional grey infrastructure, while still allowing it to perform its primary human-centric function. Nardilysin (NRDC) plays a role in multiple cellular functions in diverse cellular compartments, including ectodomain shedding in the plasma membrane, as well as chaperoning a key Krebs cycle enzyme in mitochondria. We had previously reported limited clinical information from two individuals with homozygous frameshift variants in NRDC. With inclusion of previously published individuals, here we report 14 individuals (10 females, four males) from nine unrelated families carrying homozygous NRDC pathogenic variants. Background: Sepsis is a life-threatening complication of infection with high mortality. A high-throughput analysis of circulating blood proteins may provide mechanistic insight and potent therapeutic targets for the prevention of sepsis.

Methods: We used multivariable Cox regression analysis to examine the association of 4955 plasma proteins, measured by SomaScan, with the risk of incident sepsis among 11 065 participants of the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study (visit 3 in 1993 to 1995; mean age, 60.1 years, 54.4% female, 21.0% Black). Proteins (false discovery rate [FDR] of P < 0.05) discovered at visit 3 were replicated using data at visit 5 (n = 4869 in 2011 to 2013: mean age, 75.5 years) and in the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) (n = 3512 in 1992 to 1993; mean age, 74.5 years). Hanifaru Bay, in Baa Atoll, Maldives, is globally recognised for hosting the largest known feeding aggregations of reef manta rays (Mobula alfredi). These aggregations are spatially and temporally discrete, often associated with flood tides, and are thought to result from hydrodynamic processes that elevate zooplankton concentrations. The big data era in biology is underway, but the study of organismal form has been slow to capitalize on advances in imaging and computation. Imaging approaches can digitize whole organisms, but low throughput has limited the effort to document morphological diversity. Here, within the open science initiative ‘Antscan’, we applied high-throughput synchrotron X-ray microtomography to capture phenotypes across a diverse and ecologically dominant insect group: ants. This study aimed to explore the correlation of blood quality with transforming growth factor (TGF-ß1) of platelet rich
plasma (PRP) which was used for bone and periodontal tissue regeneration. Thirty nine subjects participated in this
study. Data of age, gender, eritrocyt, leucocyt, hemoglobin, thrombocyt, and TGF-ß1 concentration were used to
analyze the correlation using Spearman correlation test. This study found leucocyt, eritrocyt, hemoglobin, thrombocyt

The main objective of caries prevention programs in the community is to reduce the number of colonies of cariogenic
bacteria, especially Streptococcus. A method of caries preventionthat is currently developed is a method using probiotics
through yogurt. This research is a laboratory based experiment using the cross over with control group design. Fifteen
samples were collected randomly from a population of preclinical dentistry students of Hasanuddin University from
entry year 2008 until 2010. The results showed a significant difference between before and after drinking yogurt where
