Post-Photography: The Disruption Effect Of Artificial Intelligence On Photography For Product Advertising, Prayanto W. Harsanto, Jalung W. Jakti
Information Sciences Letters
This study aims to understand visual phenomena by describing and analysing artificial intelligence (AI) technology in photography for product advertising. The focus of the study is the influence of these technological advances on significant changes in the advertising world. Initially, photography represented a reality that described facts, but artificial intelligence imaging has shifted the understanding of the concepts underlying photography. Visual Methodologies are used to identify, describe, and explain systemically. Data were collected by observing, documenting, interviewing, and questionnaires. The socio-technological approach is used to reveal the influence of technological developments on social problems and the phenomenon of advertising photography …

A Multimodal Discourse Analysis Of Nasa's Instagram Account, Danica Lynn Tomber
Dissertations and Theses
In an increasingly interconnected society where science and technology are advancing at a rapid pace, knowledge dissemination, specifically in terms of public engagement and popularization, must be both encouraged and critically evaluated. As an internationally recognized government agency that is dedicated to the advancement of space exploration and present on several social media platforms, the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) provides a useful lens from which to analyze large-scale messaging of multimodal scientific information. Although there is a substantial amount of linguistic research into political and government-based messaging in social media, there is not much literature on the …

Transprofessional Competencies Of Information Managers And The Challenges Of The New Normal, Adeoye Augustine Bamgbose Mr, Hassan Mallam Ibrahim, Sa’Ad Madaki Adamu
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Librarians and other information professionals are required to possess transprofessional competencies in the form of additional education or knowledge to increase the range of services that could be provided for improved efficiency of information service delivery in the new normal. This study investigates the transprofessional competencies of librarians and their perceptions of what barriers prevent librarians from developing transprofessional knowledge in this changing and knowledge-driven environment. The study is a qualitative research, and the phenomenography method was adopted for this study; The participants constitute librarians and information managers in four academic libraries in Lagos and Oyo states, Nigeria. A semi-structured …

A "Tale Of Two Cities:" A Comparative Case Study Of Community Engagement And Costs In Two Levy Campaigns, W. Kyle Ingle, Paul A. Johnson, Ruth Ann Petroff
Mid-Western Educational Researcher
Using Anderson’s (1998) framework for authentic community engagement and Levin and McEwan’s (2001) “ingredients method,” this comparative case study analyzed contrasting approaches to levy campaigns undertaken by two suburban school districts and the associated costs of the campaigns. We found that District A ran a campaign that “authentically” engaged community members with lower opportunity costs for district personnel (administrators and teachers) and success at the polls. District B ran a “central office campaign” with higher opportunity costs for district personnel and defeat at the polls. While overall costs for District A were higher than those of District B, costs per …

Revolutionizing Space: A Case Study On Accessibility And Comfort, Jennifer Macmartin
Revolutionizing Space: A Case Study On Accessibility And Comfort, Jennifer Macmartin
sprinkle: an undergraduate journal of feminist and queer studies
Influenced by a dynamic and revolutionary crip theory, this piece seeks to operationalize the combination of crip theory/disability studies and intersectional feminist praxis. Dis/ability is consistently disregarded as a central social identity, as the world has been literally built and maintained by (temporarily) able-bodied people with the intent to accommodate able-bodied people’s needs and comfort. DeafSpace, a revolutionary project prioritizing deaf people’s needs and comfort, serves as a case study for potential revolutionary architectural projects that focus on dis/ability accommodation, accessibility, and comfort. However, in seeking additional solutions to this issue, we must be conscious of tokenizing the experiences of …
Effect Of An Rn-Facilitated Post Discharge Phone Call Hf Self-Management Strategy, Vivia O. Haye
Effect Of An Rn-Facilitated Post Discharge Phone Call Hf Self-Management Strategy, Vivia O. Haye
Dissertations
Heart Failure (HF) is associated with substantial financial challenges resulting in exorbitant yearly costs, and frequent readmits to the emergency department. Post-discharge HF self-management is crucial to improve client outcomes. The purpose of this quantitative, quasi-experimental, project was to examine whether the implementation of an RN-facilitated post-discharge phone call that focused on HF self-management strategies reduced return emergency department (ED) visits within 72 hours in an urban South Florida hospital. Orem's self-care theory and the Meleis transition model were used for their success in managing chronic illnesses such as HF. Both examined if an RN facilitated post-discharge telephone call that …

Adopting Virtual Reality For Education: Exploring Teachers' Perspectives On Readiness, Opportunities, And Challenges, Rob E. Carpenter, Rochell Mcwhorter, Katherine Stone
Human Resource Development Faculty Publications and Presentations
Virtual reality (VR) can be adapted to teach many topics and may be particularly effective for complex concepts. However, little is known about teacher readiness on adopting VR in the classroom. Accordingly, 189 higher education teachers were surveyed to explore perceptions on adopting VR. Findings revealed the adoption of VR vectored on teachers perceived readiness confidence in technology skill and belief that VR has potential to benefit student learning. Moreover, understanding students cognitive experience in the immersive VR environment remains underdeveloped and may influence teacher's perception of readiness to adopt VR for teaching. However, there is an opportunity to influence …
Situating The Child’S Voice Within Children’S Fashion: An Interdisciplinary Examination Of The Child’S Engagement With The Clothing They Wear, Melinda Byam
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
This paper examines the child’s relationship with children’s fashion, the clothing they wear, and their fashion consumption practices. Using a wardrobe approach to fashion, and an understanding of the child as the expert in their own lives, the author questions how the child engages, interacts, and experiences children’s fashion considering that how they use, think, and speak about their clothing is minimally consulted. Situating this research within a theoretical foundation set by Goffman and Simmel (social behavior), Featherstone (consumer culture), and Merleau-Ponty and Entwistle (embodiment), this text examines fashion from the point of view of the child, hypothesizing how future …

Identity And Coping: Deaf Sign Language Interpreters And Secondary Traumatic Stress, Debra L. Russell, Cathy J. Chovaz, Wayne Nicholson, Margie English, Victoria Paquette
Journal of Interpretation
This article describes the results of a mixed methods study with 47 Deaf sign language interpreters (D-SLIs) and their experiences with secondary traumatic stress (STS). By replicating Daly and Chovaz (2020) research, this study contributes data based on the unique experiences of Canadian and American Deaf interpreters and allows us to contrast the findings to the original study with non-Deaf interpreters (ND-SLIs). The findings reveal that the majority of D-SLIs did not experience clinical levels of STS, compassion satisfaction, anxiety, or burnout. In looking at the results, one-third of the D-SLIs showed comparable levels of STS and compassion satisfaction but …
