Finding Belonging In A Religious Dominant Society: Religion Among African Migrants In Türkiye, Garrett L. Wride, Stacey A. Shaw
FHSS Mentored Research Conference
As global migration increases each year, so does the need to understand the crossroads between inclusion, wellbeing, and religion. The experience of African migrants living in Türkiye presents itself as a unique case to study migrant wellbeing. Using quantitative and qualitative analysis, this study shows that African migrants in Türkiye belonging to the religious minority have lower scores of wellbeing and social support. Findings point to the need for policy makers and mental health practitioners to ensure migrants can access their religious communities.

Empathy is a crucial aspect in social professions such as counseling and psychotherapy, acting as a bridge in building an effective therapeutic relationship between counselors and clients. This study aims to test the effectiveness of classical guidance services in developing empathy in students of the Guidance and Counseling study program, Ma'soem University, class of 2023. The study used a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test post-test pre-experimental design, involving 42 students with a saturated sample technique. The instrument used was the Empathy Scale for Prospective Counselor (ESPC) based on Segal's theory (2018). The results of the analysis showed a significance …

Employing the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study explores, identifies, investigates, evaluates, and interprets existing research to uncover how ethnomethodology addresses challenges in HRM. The findings reveal that ethnomethodology offers a valuable lens for understanding complex issues within HRM by analyzing the everyday interactions and practices of individuals in the workplace. This approach enables researchers to uncover underlying problems in HRM and provides insights that can inform strategies for problem-solving. By highlighting …

Kentucky Teacher Education Journal: The Journal of the Teacher Education Division of the Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children
Drawing on sociocultural theory, a transdisciplinary, multi-racial team of teacher educators, a social work educator, and a scholar of English and rhetoric, designed a study focused on developing teacher candidates’ understanding of trauma-informed practices during their teacher preparation program. Qualitative data from teacher candidates’ reflections on Critical Incident Descriptions (CID) completed during student teaching reveal their developing understanding of trauma-informed practice with Timing, Maintaining Relationships, Holding High Expectations, and Engaging Students so they Remain in the Classroom as prevalent themes across all CIDs. Findings suggest that Critical Incident Analysis promotes teacher candidates’ reflection practices as they make connections …
