Journal of Counseling Sexology & Sexual Wellness: Research, Practice, and Education

Previous research has shown that counselors feel uncomfortable addressing clients’ sexual concerns due to a lack of education on topics related to human sexuality. Various studies have attempted to identify the characteristics of vaginal orgasm, including whether women and other people with vaginas (PWV) can achieve different kinds of orgasms. The current study examines responses to participants surveyed across the United States on their orgasm response and compares responses of participants who achieved orgasm through masturbation and those who achieved orgasm through sex with a partner to determine whether PWV experience one kind of orgasm during masturbation and experience a …

Peer counselors and program directors from eight agencies in Northern and Southern California were interviewed in order to determine how their programs differed from other services for

hearing impaired persons, and how these programs compared with peer counseling programs in other settings. It was concluded that peer counselors provide a unique service by meeting a wide variety of needs in a supportive setting characterized by a shared background with the client. It was also apparent that the programs surveyed here had some features that were startlingly unlike peer counseling programs in other settings while in other ways they were similar. …

As a consequence of limited access to health information, Deaf and hard of hearing (Deaf/ hh)’ individuals may be at higher risk for health complications and tobacco-related diseases. To address this issue, Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD) of Oklahoma sought funding from the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust to implement the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Tobacco Use and Cessation Program. The five-year project began in 2006; it was the first major health education initiative in the state that focused on the Deaf community. Practical Implications Of The 2008 Americans With Disabilities Act Amendments (Title I) For Rehabilitation Counselors And Deaf Job Seekers, William P. Mccrone

The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments of2008 rescued many qualified deaf job seekers and deaf workers from U.S. Supreme Court decisions that significantly limited the definition of disability for the purposes of ADA Title I private employment rights. The Title I amendments and decisions are described; practical implications and actions are suggested.

Hedonic lifestyle is an excessive lifestyle that prioritizes material pleasure and enjoyment. The hedonic lifestyle in high school students is of particular concern. The purpose of this research to find out effectiveness of self-management techniques for reduce the hedonic lifestyle of student of SMAN 8 Malang with twelve student subject. This research used non equivalent control group design, by giving pretest and posttest to each group. The results showed that self-management techniques are effective than modeling techniques.

A Comparison Of The Rehabilitation Outcomes Of Persons Who Are Deaf And Hard-Of-Hearing And Persons With Other Disabilities, Corey L. Moore

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the rates of closure success (i.e., status 26) and level of income (i.e., weekly earnings at closure) for consumers with hearing loss (i.e., deaf and hard-of-hearing) and consumers with other disabilities. A random sample of case records (N=34,911) obtained from the RSA 911 database for fiscal year 1997 was evaluated. A series of logistic and multiple linear regression analysis, chi-square analysis, and t-tests were utilized to investigate potential relationships. Results indicated that consumers with hearing loss achieved closure success more often, and possessed higher levels of income when compared to consumers with …

Work Attitudes Of Students Who Are Deaf And Their Potential Employers, Virginia G. Lott, Susan R. Easterbrooks, Kathryn Wolff Heller, Colleen M. O’Rourke

This study examined the attitudes held by high school students who are deaf and their potential employers regarding employees who are deaf. The subjects of this study were 30 employers from a large metropolitan area in the southeast and 30 high school students who are deaf. Subjects responded to a Likert scale that focused on how each group perceived the others' opinions of work-related issues and attitudes. Results indicated three individual areas of significance (i.e., writing, intelligence, and inability to use a telephone) and one significant aggregate group (i.e., communication).
