Determination Of Urinary Metabolites Of Toluene And Xylenes In Paint Workers And Non-Occupationally Exposed Individuals In Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Alturkstani, Radhouane Chakroun, Bassam Jamoussi, Raghad Alhajaji
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture
Aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene and xylenes are widely used as solvents in industrial processes, particularly in paint production, despite their known toxicity. Occupational exposure to these chemicals poses significant health risks, especially for workers in the manufacturing and application sectors. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has reported an increased cancer risk associated with paint fume exposure, prompting regulatory agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to establish exposure limits. In Saudi Arabia, a key player in the petroleum and chemical industries, workers face …

Exploring Phytoconstituents Of Neem Leaf Extract And Its Potential Antimicrobial And In Vitro Anticancer Activities, Omer Hosni Mohamed Ibrahim
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture
Considering the growing interest in exploring the biologically active chemicals of the neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) plant, this current study was designed to explore and characterize the probable phytoconstituents of the methanolic extract of neem leaves using GC-MS analysis. The antibacterial activity of the extract was studied against Agrobacterium tumefaciens, Serratia marcescens, and Acinetobacter johnsonii and its antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani, Penicillium italicum, and Fusarium oxysporium. Further, the cytotoxicity was assessed against PC-3, MCF-7, and Caco-2 cancer cell lines, compared with the normal Vero cells, where IC50 and selectivity index for …

In assessing the conduct of the University of Florida’s law school leaders, Preston Damsky, Judge John Badalamenti, and the New York Times, I’ll concede that it is darn near impossible for any of us to be objective. But I’d like to contribute to this conversation in a way that at least attempts a degree of objectivity. This comment focuses on the judge turned adjunct professor, but to do so, there is a matter of context.

Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe
The article analyzes the personal responsibility of the organizers and participants in the repressions against Protestant communities in Ukraine. The punitive and preventive atheistic campaigns of the communist regime were carried out by specific individuals who were organizers and participants in the destruction of churches, the dispersal of prayer services, the destruction of material and spiritual values of Protestant communities, the harassment of believers at work and their place of residence, the imposition of monetary fines on them, and so on. Communist regime functionaries participated in the persecution of believers during trials, in places of imprisonment, etc. Believers suffered most …

The Paradoxical Effect: How Destruction Of Religious Buildings In Ukraine Undermined Russian Propaganda Narratives (2022-2024), Oleksandr Kostiuk, Fedir Vlasenko, Vitalii Turenko
Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe
This research examines the paradoxical relationship between the destruction of religious buildings in Ukraine during the Russian invasion and the effectiveness of Russian propaganda narratives. Using a mixed-methods approach combining statistical data, sociological surveys, and document analysis, we investigate how the systematic targeting of Ukrainian religious sites by Russian forces has produced effects contrary to those likely intended. The research reveals that instead of undermining Ukrainian national identity, the destruction of churches and other religious buildings has catalyzed profound transformations in Ukraine's religious landscape, accelerated the transition of parishes from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) to the Orthodox Church …

Jurnal Manajemen dan Usahawan Indonesia
The concept of fun at work is often discussed in various studies as an activity that supports a positive work climate and provides a variety of positive experiences for employees. However, there is debate in seeing the impact of implementing fun at work in the workplace, especially in the context of public services. To date, research related to fun at work in the context of public services or government institutions is still very limited. By focusing on the civil servants or ASNs in Indonesia, this study aims to explore the perceptions and experiences of fun at work for ASNs.

“Gen Z Malas Dan Gampang Resign?”: Analisis Wacana Kritis Atas Representasi Negatif Dalam Media Massa, Muhammad Gaza
Jurnal Manajemen dan Usahawan Indonesia
This study employs Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis to examine how Indonesian online media construct negative stereotypes of Generation Z in the workplace. Based on an analysis of 15 national news articles (January–May 2025), the findings reveal that narratives such as “lazy,” “spoiled,” and “quick to resign” are consistently reproduced through word choice, institutional quotes, and framing aligned with traditional work values. The discourse operates on three levels: micro (biased linguistic structures), meso (digital market logic), and macro (intergenerational value tensions). These representations are not mere reflections of reality but symbolic practices that reinforce dominant work structures. A critical reading …

Mechanical Engineering ETDs
Ensuring safety is a fundamental challenge. Traditional methods often rely on precise mathematical models, which are difficult, impractical, or costly to obtain for real-world systems with complex, nonlinear dynamics. This dissertation develops direct data-driven control approaches that enable safe and efficient operation of nonlinear systems without requiring explicit models or performing system identification. This effort leverages machine learning, optimization, and control theory to bridge theoretical rigor and practical applicability. Deterministic guarantees are provided based on the Lipschitz continuity of the system, and probabilistic guarantees through scenario optimization. The computation of safe sets is performed using one-shot approaches with broad neural …

BACKGROUND: Accurate risk stratification of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is critical for selecting the most appropriate treatment options. Existing prognostic systems, which incorporate various clinical and pathological parameters, have limitations in terms of accuracy. However, it remains unclear whether integrating molecular data with clinicopathological features can enhance the identification of high-risk tumors. The objective of this study was to establish a model to predict RCC recurrence by integrating molecular data with clinicopathological features and to evaluate circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) as a non-invasive prognostic marker.
METHODS: Next-generation sequencing (NGS) was performed on 73 RCC patients, including 54 with clear-cell RCC …
