Introduction: Intervention adaptation is likely to occur to some extent when implementing interventions in new implementation contexts. Using systematic frameworks can guide intentional and effective adaptation processes. Intervention Mapping for Adaptation (IM-ADAPT) is a framework that offers step-by-step guidance for systematic, theory-based intervention adaptation. Despite the increasing use of IM-ADAPT, there is limited understanding of the contexts in which it has been applied and how effectively it is used and reported. Addressing this knowledge gap can improve current adaptation practices and inform future enhancements of the IM-ADAPT framework and the broader science of intervention adaptation. This review aims to (1) …

Faculty, Staff and Students Publications
Background/Objectives: Research on the association of adverse social determinants of health (SDOH) with severe pediatric coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is limited. We examined associations between SDOH patterns and COVID-19 severity in children.
Methods: We conducted a prospective, observational study of children (< 18 years) with symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection evaluated in an urban pediatric emergency department (March 2021-April 2022) in Detroit, Michigan. Caregivers completed a 34-item survey based on the Healthy People 2030 framework. Severe disease was defined as the occurrence of respiratory/cardiac failure or death within four weeks of diagnosis. Continuous and categorical variables were described using medians and percentages, respectively. Associations between disease severity and risk factors were determined using chi-square tests. Association rule mining was used for feature selection, followed by multivariate logistic regression.
Results: We analyzed data from 354 children [6-12 years: 31.1%, Female: 51.1%, Black: 59%, not Hispanic: 84.7%, public insurance: 77.1%, chronic condition: 27.4%]. Of the total, 113 children had severe disease. Most caregivers were 30-44 years old (53.1%), had less than a college degree (70.4%), and income < USD 50,000 (75.2%). Adverse SDOH reported included food/housing insecurity (24.6%), no support (64.7%), unmet childcare needs (35.9%), and lack of transportation (12.7%). After controlling for age, sex, medical history, income, and obesity, severe disease was associated with caregiver use of drugs/alcohol (OR:5.92, p < 0.001) and social discrimination/lack of support (OR: 1.74, p = 0.030).
Conclusions: Two SDOH patterns (caregiver use of drugs/alcohol …

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
The success of commercial laying hen farms depends on the possibility of managing environmental conditions properly and performing strict biosecurity measures, which would increase productivity, enhance the performance of the flock, and save money, especially in regions characterized by challenging climatic conditions, such as the sub-arid and arid areas. There is, however, very little literature exploring these issues in the Algerian context. The objective of the study was to assess environmental management and biosecurity practices, and the relationship between these and farm size in the Algerian sub-arid area (northeast Algeria). The face-to-face interviews were conducted between January 2024 and April …

Infrared Salient Object Detection And Classification With Deep Learning, Hamdan Alshehri, Haitham Assiri, Salahaldeen Duraibi, Yahya Alqahtani
University of Bisha Journal for Basic and Applied Sciences
As the complexity of large-scale infrared video images increases, traditional approaches for detecting conspicuous objects in these images continue to fail. An improved method for detecting prominent objects in infrared photos using deep learning has been created. The major parts of this model include the spatial feature extractor, the temporal feature extractor, the residual connection blocks, and the pixel-level classifier. The spatial feature extraction module was first used to collect the relevant spatial data. Once consistent spatial and temporal data was collected, the temporal feature extraction module was applied. The salient object recognition outcome was produced by jointly feeding the …

Physics Faculty Publications
We present and evaluate the Merrimack College Mobile Lightboard, which we built in 2017 and which is still in use in 2025. Our design was closely based on that of the groundbreaking 2014 Duke University Lightboard but with a smaller glass pane, 5 feet wide instead of 6 feet wide. The resulting scaled-down board is small enough to move in and out of individual faculty offices, but large enough to make detailed videos. An updated construction cost estimate is provided, and recent upgrades are briefly discussed. We believe that personalized office-based lightboarding represents an attractive option for many faculty members, …
The 1935 Nazi Nuremberg Laws In Historical And Legal Context, Menachem Z. Rosensaft
The 1935 Nazi Nuremberg Laws In Historical And Legal Context, Menachem Z. Rosensaft
Cornell Law Faculty Working Papers
The core ideology of Hitler Germany — of the Third Reich — was the hardcore, unremittent antisemitism that in short order permeated German society and the German legal system before creating the necessary conditions for the genocide of all Jews under Nazi control.
Two preliminary observations. First, should we view the 1935 Nuremberg laws and other German anti-Jewish laws and measures of the 1930s as the first stages of a process designed culminate in the annihilation of Jews, or were they drafted and enacted by individuals who, at that point in time, were not envisioning a “Final Solution of the …
Data Property & Digital Sales, Christina Mulligan
Data Property & Digital Sales, Christina Mulligan
Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review
Copyright law fails utterly to develop a coherent concept of "digital sales." Printed books and vinyl records are easily sold and resold, with the copyright holder’s permission or under the first sale doctrine. But a creator of digital copyrighted works who wants to analogously “sell” their work to buyers faces what borders on an absurdity; “digital sales” of copyrighted works are incoherent at worst and useless at best. As a result, sophisticated copyright owners almost never sell their works and only license purchasers to make particular uses of digital works, such as “personal uses” or reproducing the work on a …
Presidential Power And Administrating Injustice In Removal Proceedings, Beth K. Zilberman
Presidential Power And Administrating Injustice In Removal Proceedings, Beth K. Zilberman
Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review
Presidential regime changes often lead to notable shifts in federal policy and raise important questions about how the executive branch manages high-volume adjudication systems within the broader administrative state. While managing an enormous caseload, federal mass-adjudication systems make determinations concerning individuals’ disputes with the government across various subject areas that disproportionately affect disadvantaged populations. The outcomes of these adjudication systems have profound impacts on the lives of vulnerable individuals compelled to appear before these administrative tribunals. The scale and life-altering consequences of these adjudications highlight the need for a deeper examination of the procedural protections afforded by agencies to some …

Why Shouldn’T We Cancel Thanksgiving Day?, Isaias D'Oleo-Ochoa
CTS Student Publications and Creative Works
The number of people who reject Thanksgiving is increasing each year. One of the major arguments against Thanksgiving is the allegation that it introduces religion to American society. Our modern society has strongly disregarded the religious dimension of the holiday by promoting it as the unofficial start of winter or Black Friday’s eve. I note a major issue with this approach because the twofold dimension of Thanksgiving is not only rooted in American history but also is noteworthy for being celebrated. Celebrating Thanksgiving may allow us to appreciate God’s grace in our historical past and today. In reflecting on my …

The Brown Foundation: Institute of Molecular Medicine
Resistance to alkylating chemotherapeutic agents such as temozolomide (TMZ) is a significant challenge in treating tumors with high MGMT expression, including MGMT-positive glioblastoma and neuroendocrine neoplasms. In this study, we investigated the effect of RNA-binding motif protein 39 (RBM39) downregulation on MGMT protein levels, based on prior observations suggesting an association between these two proteins. Pharmacological depletion or siRNA-mediated knockdown of RBM39 led to a marked reduction in MGMT protein levels in MGMT-expressing cancer cells. We further showed that dual targeting of RBM39 (using indisulam) and MGMT (with O6-benzylguanine) synergistically enhanced MGMT depletion. Functionally, combined indisulam and TMZ treatment significantly …

Ferula violacea Korovin, an endemic Tajikistani plant with purported medicinal properties, remains understudied. This study employs untargeted metabolomics to characterize the metabolite profiles of ethanol extracts and juices from F. violacea roots and seeds. In total, 540 distinct metabolites are putatively identified, 419 of which are previously unreported in the Ferula genus, representing a substantial expansion of its known chemical diversity. The most abundant metabolites are terpenoids, amino acid derivatives, and alkaloids. A particularly abundant group of daucane sesquiterpenoids, sharing a common (6-methyl-azulen-4-yl) cyclohexanecarboxylate substructure, is identified, including known metabolites such as ferutidin and ferutinin. Comparative analysis reveals organ-specific metabolic …

Native Bee Assemblages In Prescribed Fire-Managed Prairies: A Case Study From Arkansas, United States, Coleman Z. Little, Neelendra K. Joshi
Entomology and Plant Pathology Faculty Publications and Presentations
Native bee communities in Arkansas remain poorly documented, particularly within fire-managed prairie ecosystems that provide critical habitat for pollinators. This study surveyed bee assemblages at two native prairie remnants in the Arkansas River Valley, one large (Cherokee Prairie Natural Area, CPNA) and one small urban fragment (Jewel Moore Nature Reserve, JMNR), both managed using prescribed fire. Using pan trapping, we recorded 599 individuals representing 96 species across 25 genera, including 49% singletons. Despite differences in size and landscape context, both prairies supported similarly rich bee communities per sample day, with JMNR and CPNA averaging 16.1 and 13.75 species, respectively. However, …

Integrated Neutrosophic Set For Assessing The Route Options In Overweight Complex Transportation Planning Scenarios, Muhammad Abid, Tayyaba Akhtar, Harshit Bhatt
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Due to improvements in lifting and transportation technology that enable the long-distance movement of heavy loads, overweight and oversized transport (O&OT) has emerged as one of the most important aspects of project logistics. This kind of transportation operation, also known as abnormal transportation, is heavily influenced by external variables like weather, traffic density, and legal regulations, as well as technical factors like the load’s weight and geometry, road surface, axle load limitations, slope, and ground strength. Decision-Makers (DMs) and practitioners who plan and carry out operations without giving these variables and factors enough thought may cause operational delays, significant hazards, …

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Airports are intricate systems that are subject to a number of operational hazards that might impair safety and cause service interruptions. There is a dearth of thorough approaches designed specifically for airport operations, despite a wealth of research on risk management in several industries. In order to anticipate and prevent breakdowns in vital airport systems, we offer a thorough risk assessment approach that combines quantitative evaluation and human factor analysis. This study uses the decision-making methodology such as MARCOS method to rank the alternatives. The criteria weights are computed in this study. This study uses six criteria and 14 alternatives.

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Because of its reliance on fossil fuels and fast population expansion, the nation confronts severe socioeconomic problems that can result in political instability, environmental damage, health issues, and economic instability. A switch to clean energy is now necessary as a result of these problems widening the gap between supply and demand for energy. To close this gap, photovoltaic (PV) technology holds great potential. In order to reduce bias and handle ambiguity while assessing solar energy (SE) issues and regulations, this study offers a decision-making process in a single valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) environment. The neutrosophic set is used to overcome …
