Prostitution In Video Games: Stigma, Violence And Male Pleasure, Laura Aguilera-Ávila, Lara Escobar Hernández
Prostitution In Video Games: Stigma, Violence And Male Pleasure, Laura Aguilera-Ávila, Lara Escobar Hernández
Dignity: A Journal of Analysis of Exploitation and Violence
Prostitution has traditionally been framed in society as a space significantly determined by patriarchal hierarchies, in addition to being affected on many occasions by stigmatisation and violence. The representation of prostitution and of those who practice it in the media is a topic of special interest, since the discourses and messages disseminated by the media play a fundamental role in socialisation. Video games are not exempt from this debate: with millions of players worldwide and a special reach among young people, they are among the most influential media outlets today. This qualitative research analyses a series of titles, both AAA …

Doctor of Nursing Practice
Background: Alcohol withdrawal is a potentially life-threatening condition frequently seen in psychiatric inpatient settings, especially among individuals with co-occurring alcohol use disorder and mental illness. The Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol Scale-revised, while widely used, depends on patient self-report, making it less effective for individuals with altered mental status or psychosis.
Purpose: This quality improvement project implemented the Modified Severity Assessment Scale, an objective, observation-based alcohol withdrawal protocol, in an inpatient psychiatric setting to improve safety, treatment accuracy, and care standardization.
Objectives: The project focused on ensuring full staff adoption of the protocol, reducing intensive care unit transfers …
Implementation Of An Information Sheet For Pediatric Patients With Autism Spectrum Disorder In An Inpatient Setting To De-Escalate Aggressive Behaviors And Reduce Seclusion Rates, Megan R. Castro
Doctor of Nursing Practice
Introduction: Research shows that most seclusion events in pediatric psychiatric settings involve pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Purpose: To reduce seclusion events within a pediatric psychiatric facility in South Texas, by implementing an evidence-based intervention upon admission that could decrease aggressive behaviors and the likelihood of requiring seclusion. Evidence summary: Literature and guidelines underscore the importance of identifying sensory triggers and calming strategies at admission. Collaborative care and personalized interventions, such as a patient information sheet that identifies …
Impact Of Rendering Wastewater Variability On Electrocoagulation - Electroflotation, Katie L. Hardison
Impact Of Rendering Wastewater Variability On Electrocoagulation - Electroflotation, Katie L. Hardison
All Theses
Rendering is a resource recovery technique commonly utilized to recover fats and proteins from unused animal parts discarded during meat processing and slaughter. Resource recovery involves converting waste products into valuable products. Rendering generates large volumes of heavily polluted wastewater. Pollutant concentrations can vary significantly, although rendering wastewater (RW) has extremely high concentrations of fats, oils, and greases (FOG). To remove pollutants, first chemicals called coagulants are added to RW to encourage pollutants to clump together to form flocs. The flocs are then floated to the surface and removed through the addition of air in a process called dissolved air …

The maternal and newborn health (MNH) service delivery redesign (SDR) in Kakamega County, Kenya, represents the country's first system-level reorganization of MNH services. The reform aimed to improve care quality and reduce mortality by centralizing delivery services at designated hubs. Using a political economy lens, we examined how ideology, political dynamics, and institutional structures shaped the agenda-setting, adoption, implementation, and sustainability of SDR. We drew on data from document reviews, stakeholder analysis, semi-structured interviews, and non-participant observation to assess the structural, contextual, and institutional factors influencing the reform. Ambiguity around SDR's purpose contributed to the community's uncertain engagement characterized by …

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This quantitative study examined the prevalence of initiative fatigue in K–12 education and its relationship to emotional, mental, and physical work fatigue. The sample included 169 participants who identified as public school educators, school-based leaders, or district office staff. Participants completed the Three-Dimensional Work Fatigue Inventory (Frone & Tidwell, 2015) and the School-Wide Initiative Inventory (O’Quinn, 2018). Findings showed that initiative fatigue is most strongly rooted in concerns about the implementation process rather than the initiatives themselves. The “how” of implementation emerged as a significantly greater challenge than the “what,” functioning as a job demand that depletes emotional, mental, and …

Cross-Modal Prompting For Multi-Class Visual Anomaly Localization, Duncan F. Mccain
Cross-Modal Prompting For Multi-Class Visual Anomaly Localization, Duncan F. Mccain
All Theses
Visual anomaly detection is a technology that uses computer vision to automatically identify defects or irregularities in images, such as cracks, scratches, or discolorations on manufactured products. Unsupervised visual anomaly detection does this without needing examples of those defects during the training process. This "unsupervised" approach is crucial in industries like manufacturing, automotive, electronics, and pharmaceuticals, where ensuring product quality is essential for safety, reliability, and cost efficiency. For instance, it helps spot flaws in circuit boards, fabrics, or medical pills during production lines, preventing faulty items from reaching consumers. By reducing manual inspections, it saves time and resources, benefiting …

North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW), the return flow component of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), is a major inter-hemispheric ocean water mass with strong climate effects but the evolution of its source components on million-year timescales is poorly known. Today, two major NADW components that flow southward over volcanic ridges to the east and west of Iceland are associated with distinct contourite drift systems that are forming off the coast of Greenland and on the eastern flank of the Reykjanes (mid-Atlantic) Ridge. Here we provide direct records of the early history of this drift sedimentation based on cores collected …

Reclaiming Bodily Autonomy Through Gullah Geechee Natural Healing, Tamaray Yvonne White
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In today’s sociopolitical climate, restrictive reproductive laws continue to disproportionately target Black women, reinforcing historic patterns of racialized and gendered oppression. This thesis argues that Black women will recommence their usage of traditional herbal healing as both a survival strategy and an act of reclaiming bodily autonomy in defiance of hostile legal, financial, and medical systems. The Gullah Geechee community serves as a blueprint for this transition, offering cultural continuity, intergenerational knowledge, and a model for community-based healthcare and resistance. By tracing the historical necessity of herbal medicine among Gullah Geechee women, this study situates ancestral natural healing within contemporary …
