Exploring Workforce Retention In A Behavioral Health Organization: A Qualitative Study, Meagan Tamara Copelin
Exploring Workforce Retention In A Behavioral Health Organization: A Qualitative Study, Meagan Tamara Copelin
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Workforce retention among mental health professionals has been a central focus of scholars as behavioral health systems continue to face chronic staffing instability (Hallett et al., 2024). Researchers have demonstrated that burnout, limited organizational support, and resource misalignment significantly influence turnover in these settings (Maslach & Leiter, 2016; Pulman & Fenge, 2024). However, researchers have not yet established how mental health professionals within a single publicly funded, state-operated behavioral health organization interpret the organizational and cultural factors that influence their decision to remain employed. The purpose of this qualitative single-case study was to explore how mental health professionals in a …

Evolutions In European Family Law: Towards A Common Core?, Frédérique Ferrand
Evolutions In European Family Law: Towards A Common Core?, Frédérique Ferrand
Journal of Civil Law Studies
This paper examines developments in European family law and considers whether a common core is gradually emerging. The first part is devoted to the European Union. Under the Treaties, substantive law on family matters, including the legal status of persons, falls within the competence of Member States. However, EU regulations govern jurisdiction and the recognition of court decisions and authentic instruments in several areas directly relevant for families and children in cross-border situations. Although these regulations do not directly deal with substantive family law, they can provide indirectly for a certain harmonization via uniform jurisdiction and recognition rules as well …

The Legal Governance Of Arbitrary Construction In Azerbaijan: Current Issues And Paths To Reform, Natig Khalilov
Journal of Civil Law Studies
Azerbaijan has long faced challenges arising from the spread of arbitrary constructions and unauthorized settlements, with official data showing approximately half a million such structures across the country. These unregulated constructions contribute to social complications and hinder the efficient operation and development of the housing, real estate, and urban planning sectors. Currently, courts are handling numerous cases involving ownership disputes and potential demolitions linked to these constructions. Registering arbitrary constructions is seen as a step towards affirming citizens’ property rights while boosting state revenue.
This article will trace the historical development of the arbitrary construction framework in Azerbaijan, analyze its …

Marriage And Compensation: Wederstrandt V. Kol And A Spouse’S Right To A Wrongful Death Action, Van Matherne
Marriage And Compensation: Wederstrandt V. Kol And A Spouse’S Right To A Wrongful Death Action, Van Matherne
Journal of Civil Law Studies
The fascinating 2023 Louisiana Supreme Court case of Wederstrandt v. Kol[1] invokes the minds of legal scholars and displays a cautionary tale for the layperson. For the scholar, this case demonstrates skillful civilian statutory interpretation that highlights the exclusivity protecting the marriage articles in Louisiana’s Civil Code. However, for the layperson, this case uncovers a possible inequity within Louisiana’s wrongful death statutes that serves as a warning to choose your spouse wisely.

A Bicentennial Approach To An Exegetical School Of Private Law In Louisiana, Agustín Parise
Journal of Civil Law Studies
This paper is an expansion of the 44th Tucker Lecture on Civil Law. It deals with sources of law, codification, and the place of the civil code in the State of Louisiana. It explores to what extent it is possible to speak of the presence of an exegetical school of private law in Louisiana throughout the life of the Louisiana Civil Code. This paper is divided into five parts. First, it deals with foundational aspects of codification and of the Louisiana Civil Code. Second, it offers a conceptualization of exegesis. Third, it presents a periodization to help analyze the degree …

An Algorithm For Extracting Bathymetry From Icesat-2 Data That Employs Structure And Density Using Concentric Ellipses, Yuri Rzhanov, Kim Lowell
Faculty Publications
The ICESat-2 satellite collects LiDAR data along linear orbital tracks using a photon-counting green wavelength (532.27 nm) instrument. The utility of combining ICESat-2 data with satellite imagery for training and subsequently applying satellite-derived bathymetry models to provide estimates of shallow water depth is well-established. However, automating and improving the accuracy of the identification of ICESat-2 photon events (PEs) representing bathymetry remains a challenge. This article presents an algorithm for automated extraction of PEs reflected from the ocean floor (rather than the ocean surface or noise in the water column). The algorithm is unique in examining both the density of PEs …

This could be seen through both Chin and Williams, whether it was Chin reminiscing of the progress and resilience of African-Americans in the United States, or Williams discussing the fulfillment of seeing lines for blocks and blocks of people ready to vote and make this momentous day to occur. Chin and Williams recognize and acknowledge the importance of …

Just as Tiny recounts how his mom brought others together by, “feeding TBS members from across the city,” TBS New Direction is creating communities of New Yorker's by giving back to the city. Her implementation of Historically Black Colleges and Universities scholarships, Community Center Drives, and Dorm Drives was an achievement she’s appreciated. She provided extensive support to people in the Bronx, and it was well-received by her peers across the nation.
