Hormetic Doses Of Lead Metal Ion Stimulated Photosynthetic Attributes In Brassica Juncea  During Various Stages Of Growth, Shalini Dhiman, Arun Dev Singh, Nitika Kapoor, Renu Bhardwaj

Turkish Journal of Botany

Low doses of lead (Pb) ions were used in the present study to investigate their effects on photosynthetic efficiency in Brassica juncea. Plants of B. juncea grown for 30, 45, and 60 days were analysed for root and shoot length, pigment content, gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, primary and secondary metabolites, and nonenzymatic antioxidant responses under exposure to hormetic doses of Pb2+. The findings show that low levels of Pb2+ (especially 18- and 36-µM Pb treatments) improve gas exchange metrics, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, root and shoot growth, and increased amounts of chlorophyll, carotenoid, xanthophyll and low amounts of pheophytin as compared …

This study explores the effects of adopting an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered mobile money system (AI-MMS) on supply chain operations among small and medium-sized enter-prises (SMEs) in the Global South. The authors developed a new version of Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation model (DoI) that considers the geopolitical context and environmental fac-tors, including regulatory framework, trust, risk and complexity, to help understand how AI-MMS can enhance transactional efficiency in SMEs and bridge the financial inclusion gap. Using qualitative methods, we conducted 40 semi-structured interviews with SME owners in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Kano and Port Harcourt and found that AI-MMS enhanced their logistics …

Arts In Criminal Justice And Corrections: International Perspectives On Methods, Journeys And Challenges, Edited By Amanda Gardner And Laura Caulfield, Kirstin Anderson Dr

Journal of Prison Education Research

It was the first day of my study I had planned as part of my PhD research. I had prepared all the materials the night before, took an early train to ensure I was on time, went through all the checks at the prison gate, set up my room and waited for the first participant to come in for their interview. I welcomed him with ease, introduced myself and went through the consent form. I turned on the audio recorder. ‘It’s just like the fucking police’. My heart sank. I don’t think I told anyone about how big a misgiving …

Mycorrhiza-Mediated Physiological Responses Of Shallot Against Twisted Disease And Drought Stress, Krisnanda Surya Dharma, Ani Widiastuti, Suryanti Suryanti

Turkish Journal of Botany

Shallot, a strategic horticultural commodity in Indonesia, is susceptible to biotic stress (e.g., twisted disease) and abiotic stress (e.g., drought). Mycorrhizal fungi offer an environmentally friendly solution to enhance plant resilience. This study evaluated the effects of mycorrhizal application on shallot plants against twisted disease (Fusarium acutatum) and drought stress. Using a randomized complete block design, we assessed growth, disease resistance, and physiological responses. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Tukey’s honestly significant difference test at a 95% confidence level. Results indicated that mycorrhizal application reduced both the severity and rate of twisted disease development in shallots. …

Modes Of Liability For Ai-Enabled Crimes In International Criminal Law, Antonio Coco Jan 2026

Modes Of Liability For Ai-Enabled Crimes In International Criminal Law, Antonio Coco

International Law Studies

As artificial intelligence (AI) technologies become increasingly embedded in human activity, the question of individual accountability for AI-enabled international crimes grows more pressing. This article examines how established doctrines of individual criminal responsibility under international criminal law—particularly the modes of liability recognized in the Statute of the International Criminal Court and in the jurisprudence of international criminal tribunals—may be applied to human actors who interact with AI systems in the commission of core international crimes. Through four hypothetical scenarios, the article explores varying forms of human involvement—from programming to deployment—and assesses whether existing modes of liability, such as perpetration, instigation, …

Unpacking A Health Paradox Among Preterm Infants: Insights From A Providers' Perception, Brittany Nicole Stewart

ETDs from 2020-2029

The goal of this dissertation is to examine the varying perspectives, or frames, of providers regarding decision-making in the NICU, which includes how they view neonates and their families, their roles as providers, and the way their frames possibly impact the care they give to the infants. In this dissertation, I conduct in-depth interviews with 34 NICU providers and professionals that provide their services in the NICU, including doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, various therapists (i.e. respiratory, physical, occupational), and two other providers from two other professions. Within the NICU, a common stereotype exists that is a belief that White boy …

Strategies For Retaining Employees In The Global Healthcare Industry, Tanisha L. Smith Jan 2026

Strategies For Retaining Employees In The Global Healthcare Industry, Tanisha L. Smith

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

High healthcare employee turnover rates pose a significant threat to organizational productivity, workforce stability, and patient outcomes. Healthcare leaders are concerned with high employee turnover because it contributes to rising operational costs, employee burnout, and a decline in the quality of patient care. Grounded in Herzberg’s two-factor theory of motivation, this qualitative, pragmatic inquiry identified and explored effective strategies that healthcare leaders use to retain employees to maintain organizational productivity and enhance patient outcomes. Data were collected from nine healthcare leaders in the United States using semistructured interviews and publicly available documents. Through thematic analysis with triangulation and member checking …

Clinical Practice Guidelines For Suicide Risk Assessment, Jelitta Cleatus Jan 2026

Clinical Practice Guidelines For Suicide Risk Assessment, Jelitta Cleatus

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

In this doctoral project, I developed a clinical practice guideline (CPG) to address the lack of a standardized suicide risk assessment protocol at a Texas mental health clinic. At project initiation, suicide risk assessment at the facility was inconsistent due to the absence of a CPG. The guideline incorporated the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), a validated instrument that improved early detection of suicidal ideation and behaviors, which were often under recognized in older adults. This inconsistency led to the following clinical question, Does the evidence support the development of a CPG for assessing suicide risk among high-risk patients using …

Improving Early Detection Of Lung Cancer In Underserved Primary Care Settings, Trent Arden Goode, Ii Jan 2026

Improving Early Detection Of Lung Cancer In Underserved Primary Care Settings, Trent Arden Goode, Ii

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the United States, with underserved populations experiencing higher rates of late-stage diagnosis and preventable death. Despite established screening guidelines, adherence within primary care remains inconsistent, particularly in safety-net settings, reflecting a healthcare administration problem driven by organizational structures and care processes. The purpose of this integrative review was to identify administrative interventions that improve primary care provider adherence to lung cancer screening referral guidelines in safety-net healthcare settings. Guided by the Donabedian Quality Framework, a systematic integrative review was conducted to examine how healthcare structures and processes influence screening implementation. …

Staff Education On Medication Adherence, Jerome Obiagba Jan 2026

Staff Education On Medication Adherence, Jerome Obiagba

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Summary The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project focuses on improving medication adherence in mental health settings, where many patients do not take medications as prescribed, leading to worsening symptoms, relapse, frequent hospitalizations, higher healthcare costs, and reduced quality of life. This problem mainly affects individuals with anxiety, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and schizophrenia, and is often related to poor understanding of treatment, cultural beliefs, or limited access to care. Because nurses play a key role in medication monitoring, education, and patient support, the project examined whether staff education improves nurses’ knowledge, confidence, and effectiveness compared to standard practice …

Staff Education To Improve Nurse Use Of Teach-Back In Outpatient Diabetes Care, Latoya Hodge-Curtis

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a prevalent chronic condition in the United States, with ineffective patient education and low health literacy linked to poor glycemic control, preventable complications, and increased health care utilization. At the project site, a practice gap was identified related to a lack of knowledge among nurses regarding the use of teach-back strategy for use with Type 2 diabetes education. The practice-focused question was: Does educating nurses on the teach back strategy for Type 2 diabetes improve knowledge as evidenced by pre- to post-survey? This project was implemented using the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) …

This is often due to abrupt discontinuation of treatment, reduced …

Elite Bankruptcy, Laura N. Coordes Jan 2026

Elite Bankruptcy, Laura N. Coordes

BYU Law Review

“The influence of bankruptcy lawyers over bankruptcy law seems almost inevitable.” —David Skeel

In Debt’s Dominion, David Skeel wrote that bankruptcy professionals have played a key role in shaping U.S. bankruptcy law. He predicted that these professionals would continue to shape the bankruptcy process long into the future. Today, we can see that Skeel’s prediction has come true. Although Congress has yet to overhaul the Bankruptcy Code, bankruptcy professionals have succeeded in their own form of overhaul by creating what this Essay calls “elite bankruptcy:” a type of bankruptcy accessible only to the rich and powerful. Elite bankruptcy is practiced …

Structural Empowerment And The Work Environment Of Nursing Home Care Workers In China, Yawen Ou Jan 2026

Structural Empowerment And The Work Environment Of Nursing Home Care Workers In China, Yawen Ou

Lingnan Theses (MPhil & PhD)

China is experiencing a profound demographic transformation as its population ages rapidly, driven by declining fertility, increased longevity, and long-term effects of the One- Child policy. Traditional family-based elderly care has become increasingly unsustainable due to the pressures of the “4-2-1” family structure and the rising prevalence of empty-nest households. In this context, there is an increasing trend in institutionalized elderly care, accompanied by a growing demand for Nursing Home Care Workers (NHCWs). In spite of their vital importance, NHCWs often face heavy workloads, poor compensation, low recognition, and limited professional autonomy. This study explores the work environment and structural …
