Faculty Open Access Works

Including technology in the accounting curriculum encourages the adoption of active learning whereby students explore accounting from an individualized manner that better engages students, motivates them to problem solve, and hopefully, allows them to enjoy the learning process and gain more from it. From a curriculum planning standpoint, the introduction of active learning-based technology curriculums also provides information about the perceptions students have about themselves, the accounting profession, and the role technology plays in accounting. Collectively, all this information can be used to guide student interest in accounting as an academic major.

Despite the significant increase in publications on construction project performance (CPP), there is a deficiency of research that rigorously assesses and synthesizes previous studies to delineate the field’s development, themes, and research gaps. This article employs quantitative and qualitative methodologies to critically evaluate studies on CPP published over the last three decades and indexed in the Scopus database. The quantitative approach includes bibliometric searches and scientometric analyses to assess the extent of research interest and achievements. The qualitative methodology aims to conduct thorough content analysis to classify existing material based on prevalent themes. The results demonstrate an exponential growth of …

One way to protect neurons is to protect them from oxidative damage by reducing lipid peroxidation (LPO). Therapeutic medicines that target the inflammatory response have antioxidant activities and can also block inflammatory cascade pathways and counteract cell lyses. The goal of this investigation was to see if new maleic acid derivatives could protect the brain from scopolamine-induced amnesia. To evaluate and characterize the maleic acid derivatives, spectroscopic techniques such as 1H NMR and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) were used. To further evaluate the synthesized compounds, an in vitro DPPH antioxidant assay was performed, compound 2f exhibited the best …

Framing Harmonization: Illusion And Reality In The Riyadh Design Law Treaty, Christine Farley, Margo Bagley Feb 2026

Framing Harmonization: Illusion And Reality In The Riyadh Design Law Treaty, Christine Farley, Margo Bagley

Editorial Contributions

Introduction:

From the outside, the Riyadh Design Law Treaty (RDLT) has long appeared as a modest administrative measure. Negotiated in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Standing Committee on Trademarks (SCT), it has repeatedly been characterized as a “procedural treaty” concerned with filing formalities rather than substantive reform. The contrast with the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge (GRATK Treaty) is striking. Both treaties were adopted in 2024 after 20+ years of negotiation. But only the GRATK Treaty attracted sustained scholarly and civil society engagement; the RDLT attracted almost none.

The $5000 Campaign Contribution Cap: Americans’ Perceptions Of Trust And Corruption, Kelly Bergstrand, Cristopher T. Robertson Feb 2026

The $5000 Campaign Contribution Cap: Americans’ Perceptions Of Trust And Corruption, Kelly Bergstrand, Cristopher T. Robertson

Social Work Datasets-Archive

Recently, some states have passed laws to limit the size of campaign contributions, such as a voter-approved ballot measure in Maine targeting independent political action committees (e.g., super PACs). Few studies investigate super PAC reform, and our study is the first to test Maine's novel form of regulation. Additionally, we evaluate the appearance of quid pro quo corruption: a critical factor for campaign finance reform to survive legal challenges. To do so, we conducted two experimental studies with 1131 respondents. First, we examined whether the size of donations affected perceptions of political corruption. We find that larger donations, especially those …

A Robust Framework For Solving Pdes: Biorthogonal Spline Wavelet Methods, Mutaz Mohammad, Alexander Trounev

All Works

This paper presents a novel numerical approach for solving the partial differential equations (PDEs), focusing on the Diffusion equation. The method combines a collocation approach with wavelet techniques to achieve high accuracy in approximating solutions. A detailed framework for the proposed method, explaining the discretization process at multiple collocation points and the formulation of the resulting system of linear equations is provided. An implementation is conducted to demonstrate the method's effectiveness in capturing the complex behaviors typical of the model studied. Comparisons with analytical solutions underscore the robustness and precision of the technique, paving the way for its application in …

Clinician Perceptions Of Barriers And Strategies To Improve Pediatric Hypertension Detection, Abbas H. Zaidi, Erica D. Sood, Sarah De Ferranti, Fabliha Khurshan, Samuel Gidding, Varsha Zadokar, Jonathan M Miller, Anne E Kazak Feb 2026

Clinician Perceptions Of Barriers And Strategies To Improve Pediatric Hypertension Detection, Abbas H. Zaidi, Erica D. Sood, Sarah De Ferranti, Fabliha Khurshan, Samuel Gidding, Varsha Zadokar, Jonathan M Miller, Anne E Kazak

Department of Pediatrics Faculty Papers

IMPORTANCE: Pediatric hypertension remains underrecognized despite its high prevalence (approximately 5%) and long-term cardiovascular implications. Although guidelines for screening and diagnosis exist, less than 25% of affected children are diagnosed, and more than half do not receive timely follow-up care. Clinician-specific implementation barriers and directly informed strategies, which may alleviate this gap, are insufficiently described.

OBJECTIVE: To identify clinician-reported barriers and actionable recommendations to improve pediatric hypertension detection and follow-up in primary care using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research.

DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: Semistructured qualitative interviews were conducted between November 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023, with health care …

Daily Coping Strategies, Unmet Needs And Daily Health Outcomes Among Family Caregivers Of Persons Living With Alzheimer's Disease And Related Dementias, Henrietta Armah Bennett Feb 2026

Daily Coping Strategies, Unmet Needs And Daily Health Outcomes Among Family Caregivers Of Persons Living With Alzheimer's Disease And Related Dementias, Henrietta Armah Bennett

ETDs from 2020-2029

Providing care for an individual with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) is considered the most stressful type of family caregiving that impacts caregivers’ health. More than one in five ADRD family caregivers report their overall health as poor to fair. These adverse health outcomes are often exacerbated when caregivers’ emotional, informational, and practical needs remain unmet throughout the caregiving trajectory. Numerous studies have shown that the ways in which caregivers cope to caregiving-related stressors significantly shape their health outcomes. Despite this evidence, a clear and consistent understanding of caregivers’ own appraisals of their unmet needs, coping strategies and mental …
