The Estimation Of Excess Mortality During The Covid-19 Pandemic In Jakarta, Indonesia, Madona Yunita Wijaya Feb 2022

The Estimation Of Excess Mortality During The Covid-19 Pandemic In Jakarta, Indonesia, Madona Yunita Wijaya

Kesmas

Indonesia is among the countries affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, and DKI Jakarta Province recorded the highest number of deaths. This study aimed to analyze the excess mortality across five administrative cities in Jakarta stratified by gender to assess the pandemic impact on mortality. The monthly mortality data from January 2018 to December 2020 was obtained through government sources. This data helped to measure excess mortality by estimating the baseline mortality had the COVID-19 pandemic not occurred. The analysis used a linear mixed model because of its ease and flexibility in forecasting subject-specific mortality. The results showed …

Increased Thyroid Hormone Levels In Pesticide Sprayer At Agricultural Area, Aditya Pawitra, Khuliyah Candraning Diyanah, Mohd Talib Latif, Beni Hari Susanto, Muhammad F D Lusno

Kesmas

Pesticides used massively in the agricultural sector would cause many poisoning and serious health problems. Organophosphate pesticides have been identified as endocrine-disrupting chemicals. This study aimed to compare thyroid hormone levels between the sprayers chronically exposed to pesticides and the control respondents who had never been exposed to pesticides. This study was an analytical observational with a cross-sectional design. The total number of respondents was 150, 50 as sprayers and 100 as control respondents. The venous blood samples were examined using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The findings significantly showed that the sprayer had a higher level of thyroid-stimulating hormone …

Analisa Keterlambatan Proses Pelayanan Unit Laundry Di Rumah Sakit Balimed Karangasem, I Putu Wirama

Jurnal ARSI : Administrasi Rumah Sakit Indonesia

Laundry units in hospitals have an essential role in breaking the transmission chain of infection to staff and patients, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. From the observation of the management team, the laundry service at BaliMed Karangasem Hospital needs to be revised. It can be seen from the timely provision of linen and incidents of lost linen, even though interventions have been carried out. Management has yet to realize the process in the laundry unit that depends on the machine, so the machine maintenance process has not been carried out correctly and on schedule. In addition, evaluating service processes has …

Indonesia Criminal Law Review

One of the basic principles in criminal law is the principle of transitory, namely the principle that regulates the enforcement of the law in the event of an amendment in legislation after a criminal act is committed. Regarding to the phrase 'amandment in legislation', there are three running doctrine: formele leer (Simons, 1910), beperkte materiele leer (Van Geuns, 1919), and onbeperkte materiele leer (Hoge Raad, 1921). These three doctrines developed prior to the recognition of judicial review by the Constitutional Court. Logical implication: Amendment in legislation as referred to in the principle of transitory does not include amendment as the …

Enhancing The Capabilities Of Fluid Bed Granulation Through Process Automation And Digitalisation, Marcus O'Mahony, Caroline Mccormack, Chris O'Callaghan, Ian Jones, Gavin Walker, Patrick Cronin

Level 3

This paper describes a PAT-enabled, digitalised, and automated fluid bed granulation system. A multichannel Near-Infrared (NIR) spectrophotometer and a direct imaging particle size and shape analyser in constant dialogue with the SmartX no-code/low-code platform provide a ground-breaking process automation toolset now located at the Bernal Institute in the University of Limerick. Two sets of results are presented for this study, from two iterations of the Advance Dynamic Process Control (ADPC) controller application. The results demonstrate the direct measurement and control of the product’s critical quality attributes through digitality enabled feedback control of processing setpoints and parameters. The platform controlled the …

Social Justice Leadership: Coming To Know Another Possibility Through Autoethnography, Jacob D. Skousen Feb 2022

Social Justice Leadership: Coming To Know Another Possibility Through Autoethnography, Jacob D. Skousen

Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education Faculty Research

Traditional notions of learning, teaching, schooling, and leading, contribute to the inequity and injustice found in schools. In this study, autoethnography was used as a process and product to explore one leader’s journey opening and leading a new “alternative” school as the school’s principal. These experiences create the backdrop of a larger narrative about public schooling and leadership. The findings, expressed through narrative, demonstrate that schools do not have to beget oppression, and school practices, framed in social justice, can create the needed environment and culture to develop liberatory praxis.

Experimental Study Of Turbulent Flow Heat Transfer And Pressure Loss Over Surfaces With Dense Micro-Depth Dimples Under Viscous Sublayer, Peng Zhang, Yu Rao, Phillip M. Ligrani

PRC-Affiliated Research

Presented are experimentally-measured heat transfer and pressure loss characteristics for dimpled surfaces, placed along one surface of a channel, with different ratios of dimple depth to channel height δ/H, and for Reynolds numbers ranging from 10,000 to 70,000. With the same relative dimple spacing to dimple print diameter, and the same ratio of dimple depth to dimple print diameter of δ/d = 0.20, experimental results for arrays of spherical indentation dimples with micro depths of δ = 0.6 and 1.0 mm (δ/H = 0.03 and 0.05) are compared with thermal characteristics for arrays of larger dimples with δ = 4.0 …
