Collaborations Of Subject Librarians In Digital Humanities Initiatives On Campus: A Case Of Visualization Of Social Connections And Geographic Movement Of Xie Lansheng, Joan Wang
Journal of East Asian Libraries
Digital humanities have transformed humanistic pedagogy and research by the application of a variety of computer technologies under the umbrella term of “digital.” As an essential campus hub to support the educational and research activities of their parent institutions, academic libraries naturally extend their services to support the digital humanities initiatives on campus with a partnership of faculty and students. However, not many cases and papers have been discovered to report details of subject librarians in the partnership. This paper presents an empirical study of a collaboration of a Chinese Studies Librarian with a faculty member and a Ph.D. student …

Examining Teacher Self-Efficacy Of General Educators In Inclusive Settings In Northwest Arkansas Secondary Schools, Marleah Hannaford
ATU Theses and Dissertations 2021 - Present
The purpose of this mixed methods study was to examine teacher self-efficacy among general education teachers in inclusive settings in the Northwest region of Arkansas. The study further explored factors that contribute to the perceived level of efficacy, and the role of teacher education programs and professional development sessions in the level of self-efficacy. For the quantitative portion of this study, 101 general education teachers from six districts in Northwest Arkansas completed a survey with Likert-style questions. Qualitative data were provided through six follow-up interviews among participants that participated in the survey. Results from the study indicate that the overall …

Targeting Hif-2Α In The Tumor Microenvironment: Redefining The Role Of Hif-2Α For Solid Cancer Therapy., Leah Davis, Matthias Recktenwald, Evan Hutt, Schuyler Fuller, Madison Briggs, Arnav Goel, Nichole Daringer
Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Departmental Research
Inadequate oxygen supply, or hypoxia, is characteristic of the tumor microenvironment and correlates with poor prognosis and therapeutic resistance. Hypoxia leads to the activation of the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) signaling pathway and stabilization of the HIF-α subunit, driving tumor progression. The homologous alpha subunits, HIF-1α and HIF-2α, are responsible for mediating the transcription of a multitude of critical proteins that control proliferation, angiogenic signaling, metastasis, and other oncogenic factors, both differentially and sequentially regulating the hypoxic response. Post-translational modifications of HIF play a central role in its behavior as a mediator of transcription, as well as the temporal transition from …

Protection of children is a guarantee that has been agreed globally. The form of protection that can be provided is to ensure that children's rights are fulfilled wherever they are, including when they are not in Indonesia. Children of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) experience multiple vulnerabilities, especially when children have to be born and live in the country where PMI works. The most obvious problem is the emergence of stateless children. Child without a birth certificate or citizenship certificate, has limited access to basic needs and government services. Guarantees for the protection of children has become the responsibility of all …

Sustainable development goals, or SDGs, are still difficult to realize, especially the goal of ending poverty in all its forms. The Covid-19 pandemic, which has been around for more than a year, has actually exacerbated the condition of poverty in the community. In the city of Makassar, the poverty rate increased dramatically from 4.1 percent to 7.2 percent during 2020 (Makassar Ministry of Social Affairs data). Ironically, the poor who live on islands such as the people of Kodingareng, Barrang Lompo, Barrang Caddi, Lumu-Lumu, Laikang and others, are now getting poorer because of the Covid-19 outbreak. Therefore, this paper seeks …

To set the tone for this qualitative study and the enriched data discovered, bell hooks (2001) says, “if we love each other and embrace our diverse sexualities, we create an environment where there is no sexuality that cannot speak its name” (p. 207). This critical narrative analysis portrays the reasons why BlackQueer adults choose to mentor and embolden BlackQueer youth. Life History methodology brought their experiences to life. Lesbian, Gay, and Gender Nonconforming (LGGNC) youth learn to conceal certain attributes associated with being Queer. They are compelled to consider and give context to their family, K-12 school personnel, and community …

Reduction of dinitrogen by molybdenum nitrogenase relies on complex metalloclusters: the [8Fe:7S] P-cluster and the [7Fe:9S:Mo:C:homocitrate] FeMo-cofactor. Although both clusters bear topological similarities and require the reductive fusion of [4Fe:4S] sub-clusters to achieve their respective assemblies, P-clusters are assembled directly on the NifD2K2 polypeptide prior to the insertion of FeMo-co, which is fully assembled separately from NifD2K2. P-cluster maturation involves the iron protein NifH2 as well as several accessory proteins, whose role has not been elucidated. In the present work, two NifD2K2 species bearing immature P-clusters were isolated from an Azotobacter vinelandii strain in which the genes encoding NifH and …
