Over the last 25 years more than 70 M ha of native vegetation in Brazil have been replaced by pastures for beef production. The substitution of native vegetation on such a large scale with African grasses (mainly of the genera Brachiaria and Panicum) is likely to have an impact on nutrients and organic matter composition, as well as a regional impact on hydrology and water quality.

Utilizing Gloria Anzaldúa’s Autohistoria-teoría methodology, this humanistic study explores embodied experiences in the education system, guided by the question, What does the absence of my history do to my identity and pride? Theorizing across historical and personal contexts, I weave together personal archival materials, including school test scores, magical thinking, storytelling, and historical legacies of colonialism and American education. Inspired by Anzaldúa’s method of inquiry, I explore the relationship between identity and education by theorizing the reverberations between history and personal/collective experience.

Dairy effluent is a significant point source in the pollution of waterways. Only 50% of dairy farms in the dryland regions of Victoria, Australia, have suitable dairy effluent systems of which only 25% are managed effectively (IRIS Research 2000). Despite many farmers viewing effluent as an undesirable waste, it contains relatively large amounts of agronomically valuable nutrients especially nitrogen (N) and potassium (K). Results are reported from the first two years of a three year study comparing turnip leaf and root dry matter (DM) responses to a range of dairy effluent rates.

Efficient use of nutrients is one of the major aims of eco-efficient and sustainable agricultural production systems. We determined the nitrogen use efficiency of a representative set of specialised dairy farms in Flanders, between 1989-1990 and 2000-2001 and set achievable eco-efficiency targets for sustainability.

The sanctuary of Our Lady of La Vang (OLLV) reveals the role of popular devotion in Vietnamese Catholicism. It manifests the recent strategy from Vietnamese Church leaders to maintain a public presence with an emphasis on reinforcing a sense of Catholic identity through popular devotion and liturgy. Devotion to OLLV then reflects the interaction of several factors: the promotion of the clergy, political influence, and the collaboration of the Vietnamese Catholic laity. It has been often observed that national parishes in the US play a central role for Catholic immigrants in preserving and transmitting the cultural heritage of the community. For Catholic immigrants, a parish is more than a place of worship. It is a source of belonging, comfort, friendship, social interaction, and most importantly, a place in which the immigrant’s cultural heritage is reaffirmed and preserved. The early European immigrants to the US built their national parishes following the architectural style of their homelands, by which they could express their cultural identity. This article discusses the significance of the signs and symbols used in the sacrament of the marriage of the Syro-Malabar Church and the adaptations from different cultures, particularly the Hindu culture of India. It concentrates on the specific elements found in the marriage celebration of the St. Thomas Christians. Filipino Catholicism’s hallmark is its festive and colorful celebrations of popular piety, which exhibit the Catholic faith’s embeddedness in people’s lives and culture. One of the most renowned Filipino devotions is rendered to Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno of Quiapo, Manila. The devotion of making a pledge to the Nazareno, known as panata, is commonly understood as a sacred promise that must be kept in return for a request that is granted. "Montado" is an old man-made agro-silvopastoral system, with three vegetation components (trees, shrubs and herbs) used for multiple species animal husbandry in extensive production systems (Potes & Babo, 2003). Several authors have reported on the improvement of Mediterranean annual self-reseeding pastures (Espejo-Diaz, 1996) and increased stocking rates.

Introduction: Technology determines the emergence of functional tools to monitor and control motor activity during the game. One of the solutions for monitoring the player in indoor sports are computer video analyses, which determine basic kinematic parameters. The mental health of collegiate students, specifically minorities increased during the pandemic. The death for all minorities increased as well as financial burdens and mental health trauma. Black students were already faced with being a part of a general demographic with higher death rates, challenges with a variety of diseases, and financial concerns. The effect of thermal conductivity was studied on the composites prepared before and after reinforcement with different weight fractions (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 wt %), using a Disc Lee's device, and the dispersion of the filler was studied by morphological analysis of the complexes using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The (SEM) of glass composite powders, showed a smooth surface with a chance of forming very few voids, clusters and blisters on the surface of the sample, which increased with the increase of the weight fractions of the filled powder.
