By identifying potential areas of tension and teamwork, the project aims to provide insights for fostering cohesion, enhancing collaboration, and optimizing performance across generations within military leadership. Experiences Of Families Bereaved By Opioid-Related Death, Danielle Hicks, Emily Phasman, Sydney O'Shay, Luisa Kcomt, Stella Resko

Publications

Family members bereaved by a drug-related death are underserved. In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 people bereaved by a close family member’s opioid-related death. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to identify themes in four areas: emotional responses (e.g. anticipatory grief), communication about the death (i.e. open or closed), supports (e.g. social or formal), and advice for others who lost a family member to opioid-related death. Findings highlight the need to support and reduce stigma toward people who use drugs and their families. This study guides social work practice by identifying the needs of families bereaved by opioid-related death.

To assess the prevalence of and relationship between uncertainty in illness and PTSD in the population of adults with chronic Lyme disease (CLD). Design: Quantitative, cross sectional Setting: Online, social media, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram Participants: A total of 231 participants who identified as having CLD. Most of the participants were college-educated, Caucasian females from the United States with ages ranging 18-75. Methods: Anonymous surveys were distributed through Lyme disease groups on social media. Results: Key findings were the significant prevalence of uncertainty in illness and PTSD in CLD patients sampled and a positive linear relationship between these two factors …

This study explores the application of machine learning for local market prediction in e-commerce. By leveraging the RFM segmentation method, the model predicts product sales based on user shopping patterns. The RFM score, calculated using recency, frequency, and monetary values of customer purchases, segments customers into distinct categories. The research utilizes a dataset obtained through seven parameters and performs data preprocessing. K-Means clustering then classifies customers into Low, Medium, and High levels based on their RFM scores. Customers in the Low category exhibit low purchase activity but high product browsing. Liver metastases from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are highly fatal. A rat-based patient-derived tumor xenograft (PDX) model is available for transcatheter therapy. This study aimed to create an immunodeficient rat model with liver xenografts of patient-derived primary PDAC and evaluate efficacy of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy with cisplatin in this model. Three patient-derived PDACs were transplanted into the livers of 21 rats each (totally, 63 rats), randomly assigned into hepatic arterial infusion, systemic venous infusion, and control groups (n = 7 each) four weeks post-implantation. This paper explores Cancer Alley, a large stretch of land along the Mississippi River in Louisiana, home to nearly half a million people. Unfortunately, this community must also share space with hundreds of chemical processing plants. Residents of Cancer Alley, most of whom cannot relocate or choose not to, face disproportionately higher risk of cancer and other diseases due to the damaging effects of these neighboring factories. Food safety has emerged as a critical concern in Vietnam, posing a significant threat to public health due to the prevalence of unsafe foods in the market. Among those most vulnerable to contaminated foods, low-income individuals are significantly affected. This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of food safety among this demographic, utilizing qualitative and quantitative approaches, including focus groups, survey questionnaires, and behavioral experiments using steamed bun as a stimulus.
