CSU Journal of Sustainability and Climate Change

Scarce natural resources are utilized substantially to provide the needed global infrastructure requirements. There seems to be a dilemma between development and a carbon-free environment, as the exploration of these resources contributes immensely to climate change due to the emission of greenhouse gases and disruption of the ecosystem. In this paper, an attempt is made to identify various scarce natural resources that are being consumed by the construction industry and their attendant negative impact on climate change is highlighted. Various approaches to conserve construction materials are discussed and the needed infrastructure to be provided is identified. This paper shows that …

Collections Of Western Wheatgrass And Blue Grama And Associated Nematode Genera In The Western Dakotas, R E. Barker, J D. Berdahl, J M. Krupinsky, E T. Jacobson

IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)

Western wheatgrass (Agropyron smithii Rydb.) and blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis[Willd. ex H.B.K.J Lag. ex Griffiths) are widely distributed throughout the U.S.A. They arc two of the predominant native grasses in rangelands in the northern Great Plains. Because suitable cultivars are not always available for reseeding disturbed areas, we collected plants of the two species and evaluated phenotypic variability to determine potential for breeding improvement. We also sampled the nematode population associated with the collections. Sampling sites were systematically chosen by establishing a grid pattern 19 .3 km apart in the western halves of North Dakota and South Dakota. …

Extra Omnes: Analyzing The United States’ And Ireland’S Methods Of Quelling The Criminal Clergy Sexual Abuse Scourge, Dana Aprigliano

Journal of Catholic Legal Studies

(Excerpt)

In late 2008, an Irish businessman was successful in legally preventing sexual assault claims from being brought against him. In explaining why one “victim” should be discredited, the court cited a threat she made against the businessman to make allegations of a sexual nature against him if he did not pay her a sum of money. In particular, she told him that if he did not pay her, she would “have him . . . ’plastered all over the front of the Evening Herald like those p[e]dophile priests.’ ” Although the businessman was not a priest or, as it …

Philosophical Orientations And Their Influence On Responsive Curriculum Development In Tanzanian Universities, Ibrahim Barnaba Mtweve, Ignasia Mligo, Alcuin Mwalongo

Journal of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership in Education

This study aimed to explore how the selected universities in Tanzania apply underlying philosophies to make their curriculum development process more responsive.  Curriculum responsiveness has gained significant importance in university education; however, most universities still struggle to keep pace with the demands of a rapidly evolving society, particularly in social, technological, and labour-market needs. Having a clear understanding of how philosophical orientation affects curriculum development can help create a more flexible and meaningful curriculum. Nevertheless, studies on the impact of philosophical orientation on the development of responsive curricula in Tanzanian universities remain scarce. This study, therefore, aims to fill this …

Ceo Succession Planning Challenges In Hospitality Industry Smes: A Conceptual Framework And Literature Review, Denise Mazzei

Journal of Fundamental & Applied Business Research

In small to medium enterprise (SME) hospitality organizations, some CEOs overlook succession planning as a strategic imperative. This article presents a conceptual framework and literature review of a study that identified issues and potential contributors to the problem of challenges some leaders face with CEO succession planning in hospitality organizations. Currently, in the leadership literature, there is not a study that examines the problem especially as it relates to the hospitality industry. The literature was examined in alignment with three concepts that cascaded from the problem: a) succession planning leads to organization sustainability, b) SME CEOs manage organization strategic vision, …

Exploring The Role Of Emotional Intelligence Within Effective Leadership And Employee Empowerment, Angelique Limongelli May 2026

Exploring The Role Of Emotional Intelligence Within Effective Leadership And Employee Empowerment, Angelique Limongelli

Journal of Fundamental & Applied Business Research

The following research concept was selected to examine the role and impact emotional intelligence has in conjunction with the challenges leaders face in reaching mission objectives. These roles and aspects were examined within the context of the United States Coast Guard, specifically how that plays out within both enlisted and officer leadership. The participants were grouped into three categories: junior enlisted personnel, senior enlisted personnel, and officers of various types of commissions. Many similarities were established based on categorization. For example, junior enlisted members largely favored teamwork, while officers largely felt unsupported and unempowered over the course of their careers. …

The Lack Of Employee Financial Wellness Programs, Janell Symone Elliott

Journal of Fundamental & Applied Business Research

This applied research was conducted to fill a gap in knowledge between research studies that show how financial stress can impact productivity and the use of employee financial wellness programs (EFWPs) as an opportunity to promote financial well-being. The research used a single case study design. A research question and three sub-questions were drawn to provide a basis for inquiry to attempt to answer how EFWPs play a role within the workplace and how they relate to productivity and morale. A conceptual research framework was created to define the problem’s clear conditions and determine how this case study was connected …

Originalism, Methodolatry, And The Only Guarantee Of Wisdom, Chad Oldfather May 2026

Originalism, Methodolatry, And The Only Guarantee Of Wisdom, Chad Oldfather

Florida Law Review

More work on originalism would seem to be among the last things the world needs. Yet the author hope to add two things to the debate. The first is a suggestion that originalist practice and theorizing have fallen prey to the phenomenon of methodolatry. This refers to an excessive focus on refinement of method for its own sake and in a manner that loses sight of the goals the method is designed to serve and, more importantly, the tendencies and capacities of those who must implement it. The second is to point out that there is an ingredient of …

Originalism As Disruption, Susan D. Carle May 2026

Originalism As Disruption, Susan D. Carle

Florida Law Review

This Article challenges the conventional understanding of originalism as a method that promotes unchanging constitutional meanings. Drawing on four and a half decades of experience since Attorney General Edwin Meese first championed originalism as a conservative project, this Article demonstrates that originalism has generally proven destabilizing rather than stabilizing to constitutional law. Landmark cases such as New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard College, and Shelby County v. Holder show that the Supreme Court frequently deploys originalism when it seeks to upend settled constitutional doctrine, …

Tradition And Discretion, Jonathan Green May 2026

Tradition And Discretion, Jonathan Green

Florida Law Review

Professor Sherif Girgis’s Dunwody Lecture argues that today’s originalists face a choice between two irreconcilable goals: constraining judges’ moral or policymaking discretion and adhering to the Constitution’s original meaning. In the academy, they’ve generally opted to sacrifice judicial constraint for the sake of fidelity to original law. But the Supreme Court’s originalists are far less comfortable with that move. Where the Constitution’s original meaning is underdetermined, or seems to invite discretionary judgment calls, they’ve looked for other non-originalist tools to tie their hands. According to Girgis, that explains why the Court is increasingly using “tradition,” rather than normative balancing tests, …

Equity's Bruen Moment: Trump V. Casa And Lessons For The Future Of History And Tradition, Jacob D. Charles May 2026

Equity's Bruen Moment: Trump V. Casa And Lessons For The Future Of History And Tradition, Jacob D. Charles

Florida Law Review

In Trump v. CASA, the Supreme Court expounded on and applied a methodological framework that mimics the test the Court has recently begun deploying in Second Amendment and other individual rights cases. That test has three primary components: (1) search for historical analogues; (2) apply historical principles; and (3) abjure contemporary concerns that can be labeled “policy” considerations. Bruen’s echoes in CASA are noticeable and telling. So too are the lessons that CASA can teach about how the Court’s approach to history and tradition is continuing to develop.

This Article analyzes CASA as a window into the Court’s …

What Makes An Opinion Originalist?, Christopher R. Green May 2026

What Makes An Opinion Originalist?, Christopher R. Green

Florida Law Review

Is originalism the law today? Because judicial opinions are an important part of how we know the law, it is important exactly what makes a judicial opinion originalist. Lower courts interpreting the opinions of a higher court lack the power to smooth out inconsistencies, fill in assumptions about what is really motivating the higher court, or dismiss stated rationales that conflict with what those lower courts take to be the facts. If, then, we assess opinions the way lower courts must assess them—i.e., on the basis of their texts—the only proper criterion to govern whether an opinion is originalist is …

“I Don’T Think We Do A Good Enough Job Acknowledging How Much This Space Is Needed By The Adults”: Making Intergenerational Futures At Camp Fyrefly, Ontario Ontario, Mayera Chazan, Megan Hill, Rachael Nicholls, Ziysah Von Bieberstein

Journal of Queer and Trans Studies in Education

This paper examines the liberatory potential of intergenerationality at Camp fYrefly, Ontario—an overnight summer camp for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth that is unique within its rural region. In 2023, we conducted research in partnership with Camp fYrefly, including one arts-based workshop, two focus groups, and five key informant interviews. The analysis explores one core finding: participants experience this youth-focused program as an intergenerational future-building project. Extending scholarship on queering mentorship, generativity, and futurity, the article concludes that Camp fYrefly’s intergenerationality binds past, present, and future in the collective project of queering education and making better futures possible. Intergenerationality is also what sustains …

Lessons From Adults Who Lived Through Parental Divorce As Adolescents, Nirav M. Patel

Pacific Journal of Health

Experiencing parental divorce during adolescence is a significant life event that can have long-term emotional and psychological effects [1]. This qualitative study focuses on how adults who experienced parental divorce between the ages of 10 and 17 reflect on their emotional, social, and academic experiences during that time. Nine adults participated in semi-structured interviews, which were transcribed, coded, and analyzed by the researcher using Dedoose software. Key findings that emerged from the interviews include emotional struggles, coping strategies, family support, the impact on school, and advice for today’s youth who are currently experiencing divorce. The findings emphasize that open communication, …

Abiraterone-Induced Resistant Hypokalemia And Hypertension: A Preventable Complication, Ripudaman Singh, Seokwon Choi, Aramide Tijani, Fatimah Bello May 2026

Abiraterone-Induced Resistant Hypokalemia And Hypertension: A Preventable Complication, Ripudaman Singh, Seokwon Choi, Aramide Tijani, Fatimah Bello

Research Symposium

Background: Abiraterone, a cytochrome P17 (17a-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase) inhibitor used in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), suppresses androgen and cortisol synthesis, leading to elevated ACTH and accumulation of mineralocorticoid precursors such as 11-deoxycorticosterone and corticosterone, both possessing potent mineralocorticoid activity1,2,3. Concomitant prednisone is recommended to prevent this cascade, as its omission can lead to clinically significant mineralocorticoid excess manifesting as severe hypokalemia, hypertension, and fluid retention4. This preventable complication remains underrecognized, particularly in elderly patients who are frequently exposed to polypharmacy. Here, we report a patient with metastatic CRPC on abiraterone therapy who presented with acute wrist pain, …

The Second Prophecy Of Mandos: Eschatology, Mythic Sources, And Editorial Choices In Tolkien’S Legendarium, Paolo Pizzimento Dr. May 2026

The Second Prophecy Of Mandos: Eschatology, Mythic Sources, And Editorial Choices In Tolkien’S Legendarium, Paolo Pizzimento Dr.

Journal of Tolkien Research

This article examines the development and significance of the Second Prophecy of Mandos within J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium. Through an analysis of Tolkien’s published works and posthumously edited texts, the study traces the evolution of the prophecy from its earliest formulations in The Book of Lost Tales to its later iterations in the Quenta Silmarillion tradition. Particular attention is devoted to the editorial decision by Christopher Tolkien to omit the prophecy from the 1977 publication of The Silmarillion, assessing both the philological and interpretative factors that may have influenced this choice. The essay further investigates Tolkien’s conceptualization of eschatology …

Limits Of Post-Activation Performance Enhancement: Asymmetry Persists Despite Performance Gains, Talia Thompson, Monique Mokha

Journal for Sports Neuroscience

Post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) protocols are commonly used to improve power, yet their influence on inter-limb force symmetry remains unclear. This study examined the effects of a PAPE protocol on inter- and intra-session symmetry and performance during a countermovement (CMJ. Ten American football players preparing for the National Football League’s draft completed a complex PAPE protocol consisting of two baseline CMJ trials on dual uniaxial force plates, followed by three sets of maximum effort lower-body lifts (e.g., split squats) alternated with two CMJ trials. Jump height (JH), reactive strength index modified (RSImod), and asymmetry indices for concentric impulse (CIA), eccentric …
