Three-Dimensional(3d) Printing In Otorhinolaryngology, Head And Neck Surgery: A Review, Santosh Kumar Swain
Indian Journal of Health Sciences and Biomedical Research KLEU
Nowadays, the medical sciences make extensive use of three-dimensional (3D) printing. In clinical practice of otorhinolaryngology, 3D printing can be useful for training, reconstructing missing tissues, and planning complex surgeries or cases of deformity. These days, 3D printing is being used more and more in otolaryngology practice. 3D printing has also huge potential to revolutionize the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Given the high cost and scarcity of traditional teaching resources like cadavers, 3D printing offers trainees a chance to get more exposure. Future educational program may be considered with implementation of 3D printing on a large scale …
Strengthening Regulatory Standards For The Refurbished Medical Devices, Krishna Singh, Manan Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Sweety Sharma
Strengthening Regulatory Standards For The Refurbished Medical Devices, Krishna Singh, Manan Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Sweety Sharma
Indian Journal of Health Sciences and Biomedical Research KLEU
Medical devices are essential in healthcare, with a wide range of over 500,000 types, from simple from simple tools like wheelchairs to complex machines such as pacemakers. These devices are categorized into four risk classes, from Class I (low risk) to Class III (high risk). Refurbished medical devices, which are previously used items restored to their original quality, offer a cost-effective solution, particularly in low-resource settings. However, they can pose risks such as contamination or worn parts if not properly maintained. Refurbishment involves repairs, reconditioning, software updates, and part replacements to meet manufacturer standards.
The global refurbished medical devices market …

An Old Law With New Tricks? The Prospects And Pitfalls Of Using The Antiquities Act Of 1906 To Shape Climate Policy On Federal Lands, Chick Hallinan
Vanderbilt Law Review En Banc
The Antiquities Act of 1906 empowers the president to declare a national monument on federally owned land, subject to constraints. As physical hazards enhanced by climate change endanger historically or biologically valuable objects and places, the Act can shape climate policy on federal land—extending the designation to new tracts and enhancing protections on existing monuments. This Note contends that climate change qualifies as a threat to federal public lands sufficient to trigger presidential authority to proclaim a national monument. Still, any such proclamation must account for the constitutional and statutory restraints that have some gravity on the president’s power to …

[2025 Honorable Mention] Racial Marginalization And Pesticide Exposure In Monterey County, Haleigh Fagundes
Ethnic Studies Research Paper Award
This paper examines the concept of environmental racism in the context of harmful pesticides and their disproportionate use in prominently Hispanic communities. These communities continue to face the consequences of exposure despite their activism. The concept of environmental patriotism, as proposed by Anne Todd in Communicating Environmental Patriotism: A Rhetorical History of the American Environmental Movement (2013), is incompatible with the data that supports the existence of environmental racism. In this piece Todd argues that channeling the pride one feels for their country is an effective way of promoting environmental efforts amongst individual citizens. The data to be presented denies …
The Power Of Storytelling: Creatively Facilitating Conceptual Change In The Classroom, Mackenzie S. Rose, Marcus Johnson
The Power Of Storytelling: Creatively Facilitating Conceptual Change In The Classroom, Mackenzie S. Rose, Marcus Johnson
Journal of Educational Research and Practice
Conceptual knowledge encompasses understanding the interrelationships among multiple pieces of information. Misconceptions of these interrelationships illustrate the need for effective educational strategies to facilitate conceptual change, with the goal of facilitating changes in learner understanding to appropriate, accurate, and complete concepts. Strategies, such as refutation texts, have proven effective in addressing science misconceptions, yet there is a prominent gap in research on conceptual change in nonscience subjects and the use of storytelling to facilitate such change. Storytelling, presented in a range of educational subjects, invites learners to engage in social discourses and problem-solving exercises. Prompted by classroom storytelling practices, creativity, …
The Jacod-Yor Theorem For Sigma Martingales And The Second Fundamental, Moritz Sohns
The Jacod-Yor Theorem For Sigma Martingales And The Second Fundamental, Moritz Sohns
Journal of Stochastic Analysis
In this paper, we prove the Jacod-Yor Theorem for sigma martingales, a class of processes that generalize local martingales and play a pivotal role in financial mathematics. While the Jacod-Yor Theorem has been extensively studied for L2-martingales, martingales, and local martingales, no prior version exists for sigma martingales. Our result establishes the connection between sigma martingales and their martingale representation properties, addressing a critical gap in the literature. As an application, we prove the Second Fundamental Theorem of Asset Pricing for markets where price processes are modeled as sigma martingales.

Maaen Journal for Medical Sciences
Background:Sepsis is a major complication for seriously ill people with shock, major infections, serious burns, or severe trauma. Inflammation imbalance is the primary underlying cause of sepsis progression and persists continuously over the entire sepsis course. Empagliflozin is an orally administered medication for diabetes that selectively inhibits sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 to improve kidney elimination of glucose. It has been discovered that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 exhibit anti inflammation and multiple effects, suggesting that they may be beneficial and prevent infections. Aim of study:This study was undertaken to assess Empagliflozin's cardioprotective efficacy in septic mice through its potent anti- inflammatory …

Epidemiological Status And Diagnosis Of Leptospirosis —A Review, Pooja Palla, Gudikandula Krishna, Dasari Thrimothi
Maaen Journal for Medical Sciences
Numerous investigations carried out in impacted countries have enhanced our knowledge of the leptospirosis epidemiology, a serious zoonotic illness that has spread throughout the world. Reliable global incidence numbers are unavailable, and the infection is underreported. According to a thorough analysis and modelling exercise, there are over a million human cases and about 60,000 fatalities worldwide each year. Although temperate countries can also experience it, tropical locations are where it is most common. Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, Oceania, South and Southeast Asia, and sections of Latin America have the highest infection rates. Even though leptospirosis is a tropical zoonotic disease …

Testing Mediating And Moderating Roles Of Inter-Organizational Collaboration In The Entrepreneurial Orientation Context, Rafal Kusa
European Management Studies
Purpose: Numerous studies have shown that a competitive approach can strengthen organizational entrepreneurship and its impact on a firm’s performance. However, there is emerging evidence that collaborative approach can also play a positive role. This study examines mediating and moderating roles of inter-organizational collaboration in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and performance. In particular, two dimensions of collaboration are tested, that is, collaborative orientation and entrepreneurial collaboration, in the context of two dimensions of performance, that is, firm growth and competitiveness.
Design/methodology/approach: This study tests the sample comprising 364 micro, small and medium enterprises in Poland. Data is …

Avoidance Of Mental Health Utilization And Reporting Of Symptoms Among U.S. Air Force Active-Duty Service Members In Civilian-Equivalent Career Fields, Nadja Bright, Patricia Hopkins-Smith, Jesma Revering, Marcia Bennett, Jim Theisen
Theses and Graduate Projects
The high suicide rate among U.S. active-duty military personnel and veterans is a significant public health concern. Despite the high prevalence rate of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) among this population, service members are less likely to seek mental health services compared to the civilian population. Factors such as fear of career harm, stigma, and barriers to care contribute to this avoidance. This study aimed to investigate if service members in civilian-equivalent (non-combat) jobs are less likely to disclose psychological symptoms compared to those in combat-related career fields and to assess the impact of perceived importance …

Besieging International Law? The Gaza Conflict And The Future Of Siege Warfare, Avraham Russell Shalev
San Diego International Law Journal
The legal boundaries of siege warfare are under renewed scrutiny following Israel’s siege of Gaza after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. This analysis explores the intersection of military necessity and humanitarian obligations, assessing whether Israel’s tactics conform to established international law or signal a shift toward stricter legal interpretations. Key legal frameworks—including the Geneva Conventions, Hague Regulations, and customary international law—are examined alongside debates on civilian protection, humanitarian aid access, and the prohibition of starvation as a method of warfare. A comparative evaluation of sieges in Gaza and Syria reveals inconsistencies in how international humanitarian law is applied, raising …
Electricity Affordability In Context, Troy A. Rule
Electricity Affordability In Context, Troy A. Rule
San Diego Journal of Climate & Energy Law
Recent residential electricity price increases in California have caused some to suggest the state is experiencing an electricity affordability crisis. Although the typical household in California and across the country spends less than three percent of its income on electricity, California’s soaring electricity rates can impose substantial burdens on some of the state’s lowest-income households. Why have retail electricity prices rapidly risen in California over the past decade while remaining relatively stable in others? What are the potential downsides of overly fixating on electricity affordability concerns in the context of energy policymaking? And what principles should guide policymakers in California …

Beneath The Surface: Unearthing Legal, Cultural, And Environmental Challenges To Resource Extraction On Indigenous Land, Danara Greer
San Diego Journal of Climate & Energy Law
Much of the world’s natural capital lies on or beneath lands occupied by Indigenous peoples. Since the advent of colonialism, Indigenous communities have tirelessly safeguarded their land from encroachment by extractive industries. The contemporary consequences of resource extraction on Indigenous lands include environmental degradation and cultural heritage destruction. Rather than providing a legal pathway to self-determination, the United States Supreme Court has eroded tribal sovereignty and undermined the trust relationship between tribes and the federal government. American Indians and Alaska Natives are prohibited from tapping into their resource wealth by an intricate bureaucratic framework that dictates how resources may—and may …
