College Students’ Activism: The Usage Of Social Media Ads, Gabriela Perez-Amaya
Culture, Society, and Praxis
In a world where social media is at its optimal peak, social movements can use the ceaseless platform to mobilize, spread awareness, and promote activism. With climate change and environmental damages being a crucial societal issue, the Environmental Justice Movement must advance their mobilization towards the next collective of civilization. For this study, I focus on college students, and how social media ads influence internet activism within them. In doing so, I highlight characteristics like an individual’s perception and their social networks, mixed with advert engagement factors like vividness, content of post, and call to action.
Health Care In Women’S Carceral Spaces, Kate Gouveia Pereira
Health Care In Women’S Carceral Spaces, Kate Gouveia Pereira
Culture, Society, and Praxis
Canada has had a long history of mistreating incarcerated women in their jails. The carceral system was built to fit around the needs of men, neglecting to consider the various health issues that only women face. For many years. federally imprisoned women were held in one deteriorated prison, the Prison for Women (P4W), and were held in abhorrent conditions and experienced many acts of violence. Despite the opening of five more prisons and funding for various programs for women, incarcerated women continue to experience violence and health crises, leaving imprisoned women extremely vulnerable to mental and physical distress. In particular, …

The Activists’ Choice: Ballot Initiatives As A Step Towards Pro-Choice Efforts, Levi C. Mahler
Culture, Society, and Praxis
Following the overturn of Roe V. Wade, many U.S. state legislatures failed to implement abortion rights that satisfy the general population. When the public disapproves of legislative law, some U.S. states allow citizens and activists the right to pursue a ballot initiative. With enough voter signatures, these ballots can turn into new laws. However, with ballot initiatives being a multi-step, lengthy process, what ultimately pushes activists to pursue this path? My research analyzes this novel intersection of political science and sociology fields to contribute to the current lack of literature on activists' decisions to pursue ballot measures for abortion rights. …

Scaffolding Subversion: Preparing Pre-Service Teachers To Sustain Justice-Oriented Action, Christopher Weiler, Kathleen Brinegar, Kristie Smith, Jessica Demink-Carthew
i.e.: inquiry in education
Dominant sociopolitical ideologies influence educational policy and threaten school-based equity. As teacher educators called to support the development of pre-service teachers (PSTs) who advance justice in their practice, we are compelled to consider our work against the contemporary sociopolitical context. Through collaborative critical discussions, we sought to explore what PSTs need to sustain their engagement in justice-oriented action beyond their teacher preparation program. The ideas and practices that emerged as essential to us as teacher educators in this era were the following: (a) Understanding and Sustaining Self, (b) Bridging Self and Community, (c) Cultivating Equitable Communication, and (d) Subverting Oppression, …

Results indicate that perception management strategies implemented by school administrators based on honesty and persuasion have a positive impact on the social capital of the school. Our findings …
The Architectonic Frames: Dialogic Leadership, Surveillance And The Problem Of Invisible Pedagogies, Jeremy Dennis
The Architectonic Frames: Dialogic Leadership, Surveillance And The Problem Of Invisible Pedagogies, Jeremy Dennis
i.e.: inquiry in education
Scholars and practitioners seldom consider pedagogy as a starting point in their appreciations of the role of leadership in education. However, the rise of invisible pedagogies may warrant a revaluation of this practice. Invisible pedagogies are enabled by cloud-based learning management platforms and their data-driven algorithms and protocols, which incentivize opaque practices and the monetization of dialogism in the form of surveillance textualism or shadow texts. As such, some scholars predict that the future growth of invisible pedagogies is inevitable. Even though dialogic leadership is positioned to calibrate the trajectory of invisible pedagogies and explicate surveillance textualism, it is …

Population trends (correlations of abundance with chronological year) were few and not significantly skewed toward either negative or positive trends. Spatial synchrony between pairs of subregions was significantly different among species, and …
Latah Formation: History And Case Studies, Kylee M. Woodworth
Latah Formation: History And Case Studies, Kylee M. Woodworth
2025 Symposium
The Latah Formation is a series of discontinuous sedimentary interbeds between the flows of the Columbia River Flood Basalts outcropping across northern Idaho and eastern Washington. Ages ranging between the Middle to Upper Miocene, the sediments represent varied fluvio-lacustrine environments. The deposits are predominantly composed of claystones and shales as alternating, laminated couplets, many containing a variety of fossils. Though the sediments may appear similar across localities, they come from different source rocks, ranging from ashes from Yellowstone hotspot to metamorphic rock from nearby hills. These ancient lacustrine and fluvial environments allowed for great preservation of fossils, often in great …

Plummer Vinson Syndrome (PVS) is a rare illness. PVS is most frequently observed in women between the ages of 40. Exact pathogenesis of PVS is still not know but it is interconnected with iron deficiency Anaemia. One of the important features of PVS is Dysphagia which is because of Post Cricoid web. Hypothyroidism is the term for a condition in which the body produces less thyroid hormone. It is believed that thyroid hormone is necessary for bone marrow to undergo proper erythropoiesis. Thyroid hormone increases the production of erythropoietin and directly stimulates the proliferation of erythrocyte precursors. Additionally, it has …

Healing In Relation: Honoring Post-Graduate Grief As An Opportunity For Relational Scholarship, Tanya J. Behrisch, Anna Rumjahn, Chris Yakimov
Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education
This paper is a three-way conversation about grief that follows a graduate program. We explore our experiences with post-graduate grief in community, attending to each other’s sense of loss following separation from supervisors, theses, and graduate programs. In committing to slow scholarship, processes—such as navigating feelings and living—have been valued over producing a manuscript quickly. Slowness, including long gaps between meetings, enabled us to follow the diverse contours of quiet alchemical processes such as grieving, opening up to emptiness, self-acceptance, being enough, and letting go. After years of compression and dialogic friction with her mentor, Tanya confronts feelings akin to …

Tubercular Abscess Of Anterior Chest Wall: A Case Report, Himanshu Binji, Kale Ajay P, Akshay Kumar
Indian Journal of Health Sciences and Biomedical Research KLEU
Diagnosing musculoskeletal tuberculosis is challenging for healthcare providers and requires a high degree of suspicion. The diagnosis is strongly suggested by a combination of gradual symptom onset, clinical signs, histological or cytological characteristics, and relevant radiographic evidence. Timely diagnosis and treatment are essential to avoid significant damage to bones and joints. Tuberculosis affecting the ribs, presenting as chest swelling, is an exceptionally rare condition, with only a limited number of cases documented in medical literature. We report a case of a 65-year-old male with tuberculous involvement of the costochondral junction, presenting as a swelling in the anterior chest wall which …
