Cybersecurity In Donald Trump’S 2024 Presidential Election Campaign, Julia Celestino Oct 2025

Cybersecurity In Donald Trump’S 2024 Presidential Election Campaign, Julia Celestino

Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research

Cybersecurity is of growing importance in America today, yet discussion about cybersecurity in Trump’s 2024 election campaign was limited. This paper discusses how the role of cybersecurity in Donald Trump’s 2024 election campaign was limited by cybersecurity issues from his first term which continue to damage public support for his campaign, the unpopularity of cybersecurity among voters, and an effort to encourage collaboration with technology companies. Focus is on a timeframe from November 15, 2022 to April 30, 2025 (the date Donald Trump announced his candidacy to his 100th day in office). Ultimately, cybersecurity issues see more policy outcomes when …

Barriers To Machine Learning Adoption In Regulated Electric Utilities, Donald R. Shiflet Jr. Oct 2025

Barriers To Machine Learning Adoption In Regulated Electric Utilities, Donald R. Shiflet Jr.

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Machine learning (ML) technologies have the potential to revolutionize regulated electric utilities by improving operational efficiency, enabling predictive maintenance, and optimizing energy management. Despite these advantages, the adoption of ML in this sector lags other industries due to technical, organizational, and regulatory barriers. This research, grounded in the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework, explores these barriers to uncover actionable solutions for integration. The study identifies key challenges, including explainability, cybersecurity, workforce resistance, and regulatory ambiguity to ML adoption in electric utilities. Utilizing an exploratory qualitative methodology, this approach integrates insights from the literature and industry interviews to rank barriers by frequency, severity, …

A Comprehensive Approach Addressing The Most Chronic And Emerging Contaminants Along The Egyptian Mediterranean Coast, Tarek O. Said Oct 2025

A Comprehensive Approach Addressing The Most Chronic And Emerging Contaminants Along The Egyptian Mediterranean Coast, Tarek O. Said

Blue Economy

Newly identified substances known as emerging contaminants (ECs) are harmful to the environment and public health, frequently because limited regulation and incomplete understanding of their impacts. They comprise a broad variety of materials, such as insecticides, industrial wastes, personal care items, and medications. Persistent pollutants (POPs) are organic compounds that have remained in the environment for an extended period of time. They tend to move through the atmosphere over enormous distances making them a chronic contaminant and may harm ecology and humanity over time. In Egypt, particularly within its Mediterranean Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), heavy metal (HM) contamination is increasingly …

Bifusenet: A Multimodal Network For Estimating Blood Alcohol Concentration Via Bidirectional Hierarchical Fusion, Abdullah Tariq, Arooba Maqsood, Martin Masek, Syed Zulqarnain Gilani

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Drunk driving remains a significant public safety challenge, demanding innovative alternatives to conventional methods such as field sobriety tests and breathalysers. Estimating a driver's level of intoxication through facial cues is particularly challenging due to the subtle and person-specific nature of alcohol-induced behaviours. In this paper, we present BiFuseNet, a 3D spatio-temporal multi-modal network designed to classify alcohol impairment levels into three categories: sober, moderate, and severe. Unlike prior approaches that rely on either uni-modal RGB video or hand-crafted facial features, our method exploits complementary physiological cues from RGB and infrared (IR) facial videos. We introduce a Bi-directional Hierarchical Fusion …

The Role Of Cooperatives In Social Capital Formation: Empirical Evidence In Indonesia, Nia Kurnia Sholihah, Muhammad Halley Yudhistira, Sulistiadi Dono Iskandar

Jurnal Kebijakan Ekonomi

Social capital is one of the indicators used to assess changes in societal conditions, particularly in evaluating the sustainability of welfare. Higher social capital tends to reduce conflict and facilitate economic transactions. Cooperatives, as organizations with dual objectives (economic and social), represent one potential mechanism for strengthening social capital within communities. This study adopts a quantitative approach and uses Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) data to estimate the impact of cooperative participation on social capital formation, proxied by individuals’ trust across various dimensions and events.

A Quantitative Analysis Of Postmarketing Safety Events Of Breakthrough Medicines, Richard Judson Davis Oct 2025

A Quantitative Analysis Of Postmarketing Safety Events Of Breakthrough Medicines, Richard Judson Davis

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Adverse events to medicines pose a risk to the public health of patients. Breakthrough therapy medicines are designed to address unmet medical needs and are often approved on an expedited timeline; however they are also criticized for lacking an adequate understanding of their risk profile at the time of approval. This study examined the relationship between the number of concomitant medicines, as well as the approved therapeutic indication, and the outcomes of reported adverse events associated with medicines approved under the breakthrough therapy designation. The conceptual framework applied in this retrospective, cross-sectional, quantitative study is the process of pharmacovigilance, which …

Rogue Prosecutor Panic, Michael L. Smith Oct 2025

Rogue Prosecutor Panic, Michael L. Smith

The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race and Social Justice

Discussions of criminal law, enforcement, and reform are frequently messy and misleading. Anecdotes distract from systematic abuse, and perceptions of crime frequently win out over existing trends. This essay identifies Zack Smith and Charles Stimson’s book, Rogue Prosecutors: How Radical Soros Lawyers are Destroying America’s Communities, as an example of this shoddy discourse. Smith and Stimson’s claim that “Radical Soros Lawyers” are being mobilized to destructive ends crumbles under minimal scrutiny, and I identify several core defects throughout their narrative, including a failure to demonstrate a truly unified scheme of ideology and funding amongst the prosecutors they identify, baseless assumptions …

Resilience Oriented Distribution System Service Restoration Considering Overhead Power Lines Affected By Hurricanes, Kehkashan Fatima, Hussain Shareef, Flavio Costa Oct 2025

Resilience Oriented Distribution System Service Restoration Considering Overhead Power Lines Affected By Hurricanes, Kehkashan Fatima, Hussain Shareef, Flavio Costa

Michigan Tech Publications

In recent years, there has been an increase in the frequency of severe weather events (like hurricanes). These events are responsible for most power outages in power distribution systems (PDSs). Particularly susceptible to storms are overhead PDSs. In this study, the dynamic Bayesian network (DBN)-based failure model was developed for different hurricane scenarios to predict the line failure of overhead lines. Based on the outcomes of the DBN model, a service restoration model was formulated to maximize restored loads and minimize power losses using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)-based distributed generation (DG) integration and system reconfiguration. Three different case studies based …

Fcc V Consumers' Research: The Non-Delegation Doctrine And The Power To Tax, Bernard W. Bell Oct 2025

Fcc V Consumers' Research: The Non-Delegation Doctrine And The Power To Tax, Bernard W. Bell

ConLawNOW

This Essay examines the 2025 Supreme Court case of Federal Communications Commission v. Consumers’ Research which seemingly involved an esoteric question of telecommunications law, but instead provided the Court with an opportunity some Justices have long sought to prune a foundational doctrine of the administrative state—the nondelegation doctrine. The nondelegation doctrine has garnered considerable judicial and academic attention, especially in comparison to the paucity of cases invalidating federal statutes on such grounds. The Court could have abandoned the forgiving “intelligible principle” test applied to congressional delegations for almost one hundred years, or, more cautiously, could have crafted a special rule …

Putting An End To Protective Privilege: Georgia Should Recognize The Psychotherapist’S Duty To Warn, Jan M. Levine Oct 2025

Putting An End To Protective Privilege: Georgia Should Recognize The Psychotherapist’S Duty To Warn, Jan M. Levine

Law Faculty Publications

This article addresses several anomalies and problems with Georgia’s law concerning the duty a psychotherapist2 has towards third parties (i.e., non-patients): the lack of a duty to warn third parties about dangerous patients; flaws in the mental health commitment statute; and inconsistencies in the way the state treats medical confidentiality and evidentiary privilege. Georgia is the only state that has failed to definitively address the psychotherapist’s duty to warn via caselaw or statute; it is time to finally and definitively fix a problem that has existed at least since 1982.

A Study Of Traffic Management Solutions And Emergency Vehicle Response Times In India, Shrutee Ghosh, Saurav Khuttiya Deori

ServDes Conference Series

India, the land of diversity, with a population of approximately 1.4 billion, is one of the fastest growing major economy in the world. The data of 2023- 2024 reveals that India produced a total of 28 million vehicles, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and quadricycles and sold 23.86 million domestically. This is where the fault lies, there are lakhs of vehicles produced and supplied carelessly, but there are no policies that check and implement a smooth, technology-driven and user- friendly traffic management system. Moreover, it is observed that there exists a vacuum not only at a policy implementation level but …

Bridging Service And Seva For Living Built Heritage: Systems Thinking For Human Centered Design (Hcd) And Community Co Management Of Temple Festivals., Nitin R. Sinha, Shiva Ji

ServDes Conference Series

This paper examines the synthesis of Human-Centered Design (HCD), service design principles, community co-management, Seva (selfless service), and living built heritage, considering the significant role of temple festivals within a systems thinking framework. Hyderabad's Brahmotsavams, Bonalu, Rathotsavams, and Hanuman Jayanti are the life and vitals of this culture. As these significant events become increasingly complex, we are challenged to rethink how they are organized in a way that effectively combines classical seva with modern principles of service design and systems thinking. Through systems mapping, the research suggests a framework to organize better festivals, foster delight for attendees, and ultimately sustain …

Recruit Those Who Seek To Serve Others, Not Control Them, Annie Bright

Faculty Articles

ICE and law enforcement should recruit for service, not control. We need to take a hard look at law enforcement recruitment, not just at the federal level, but locally. Recruitment should invite those who seek to serve.
