Hubungan Faktor Psikologis Dengan Atrium Fibrilasi: Suatu Tinjauan Kepustakaan, Arina Widya Murni, Annesa Fadella

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Psychological factors influence the onset of cardiac rhythm and dysrhythmia disorders, including atrial fibrillation (AF), which is defined as uncoordinated atrial activation resulting in ineffective contractions. Psychological factors have a bidirectional relationship with AF, as AF symptoms can lead to a decline in mental health, which in turn negatively affects the clinical course. One explanation for how psychological stress impacts the heart and contributes to AF involves the autonomic nervous system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Anxiety and depression are common comorbidities in AF. These conditions can be assessed using standardized instruments, such as the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale …

Using Visual Imagery To Manipulate Recognition Memory For Faces Whose Appearance Has Changed, Michelle M. Ramey, Darya L. Zabelina Sep 2025

Using Visual Imagery To Manipulate Recognition Memory For Faces Whose Appearance Has Changed, Michelle M. Ramey, Darya L. Zabelina

Psychological Science Faculty Publications and Presentations

Real-world recognition requires our memory system to accommodate perceptual changes that occur after encoding; for example, eyewitnesses must recognize perpetrators across changes in appearance. However, it is not clear how this flexible recognition ability can be improved: Standard encoding strategies not only tend to be ineffective, but can in fact be detrimental for recognizing people across appearance changes. Given the effectiveness of visual imagery in creating and modifying memory representations, we examined whether counterfactual visual imagery could be used to manipulate flexible recognition by simulating an increase in encoding-retrieval similarity. Across two experiments, participants (n = 317) encoded faces with neutral …

What Kinds Of Experiences And Activities Contribute To College Students' Sense Of Purpose? A Mixed-Methods Study, Katlyn Rochelle Viers

Dissertations and Theses

For many young people, attending college is a core marker of the transition to emerging adulthood. Some students thrive in college while others become lost, confused, or seem to be just marking their time. Some researchers have hypothesized that one thing that can help students take advantage of their college experience is if they are firmly anchored in their own life goals and sense of purpose. The primary goal of this study is to contribute to knowledge about the role of a sense of purpose in college students' development, including not only its potential benefits to their academic functioning and …

From Either-Or To All Together: Integrating Universal And Relativistic Approaches To Belonging And Engagement In The First Year Of Middle School, Kristina Shiann Tucker

Dissertations and Theses

Schools are designed to foster growth and learning while promoting positive educational outcomes for all students. Yet, there is some evidence that the education system is not meeting the needs of all students, nor are achievement outcomes the same for everyone. Some of the identified challenges seem to be developmentally based, whereas others are evident among different demographic subgroups. Developmental differences are apparent in many aspects of academic functioning, such as student motivation and engagement, which peak when students enter school and normatively decline, relatively steadily, throughout students' educational careers. Demographic disparities are even more pronounced, represented, for example, in …

Quality Improvement Project Improve Staff Knowledge On Spravato For Treatment Resistant Depression, Cynthia Barraza Guerra Sep 2025

Quality Improvement Project Improve Staff Knowledge On Spravato For Treatment Resistant Depression, Cynthia Barraza Guerra

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Treatment-resistant depression (TRD), defined as major depressive disorder unresponsive to at least two adequate antidepressant trials, is linked to higher morbidity, diminished quality of life, and increased healthcare utilization. Spravato (intranasal esketamine), approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, provides a novel mechanism of action through N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor modulation but requires strict safety oversight due to risks including dissociation and hypertension. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement (QI) project evaluated whether a targeted educational intervention improved staff knowledge and confidence in Spravato safety protocols. Guided by Lewin’s Change Theory, Bandura’s Social Learning Theory, and implemented with …

Quality Improvement Project High-Quality Simulation Training For High-Quality Nurse Educators, Cherrelle Hawkins Sep 2025

Quality Improvement Project High-Quality Simulation Training For High-Quality Nurse Educators, Cherrelle Hawkins

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) faculty use simulation as a teaching modality to assist nursing students in preparing for their clinical experiences by transitioning knowledge into practice. To successfully facilitate simulations, faculty must possess knowledge and competence in facilitating simulation sessions. Faculty at the practice site lacked these characteristics due to the nonexistence of a simulation training program. This quasi-experimental quality improvement project aimed to implement formal simulation training for faculty to influence self-perceived knowledge and competence in facilitation constructed by the Adult Learning Theory and the Awareness-Desire-Knowledge-Ability-Reinforcement (ADKAR) Change Model. The PI evaluated knowledge and competence …
