Digital Material Passports In The Aec Industry: A Scoping Review And Conceptualisation Of Future Research Challenges, Alejandro Veliz Reyes, Duhan Olmez, Jason Grout, Alexandra Carr

School of Art, Design and Architecture

Material passports (MPs) are datasets designed to track and manage building elements’ lifecycles, including the documentation of provenance, location, or disassembly information. The last few years have seen a growth in MPs development, catalysed by international, national, and regional directives on decarbonisation, data transparency, product labelling, and the need to rethink the reporting of sustainability metrics in the built environment. Recent MP prototypes, however, encompass multiple data architectures and have been implemented across various building typologies, regulatory jurisdictions, and construction processes, resulting in unclear adoption pathways in industry. In response to this challenge, this paper maps this emerging field using …

Digital Media And Political Engagement: Shaping Youth Environmental Attitudes And Behaviors In Four European Societies, Tyler Hansen, Chloe K. Taylor, Ryan T. Knowles Oct 2025

Digital Media And Political Engagement: Shaping Youth Environmental Attitudes And Behaviors In Four European Societies, Tyler Hansen, Chloe K. Taylor, Ryan T. Knowles

Psychology Student Research

This study investigates the relationship between students’ political engagement, civic knowledge, socioeconomic status, gender, and digital media use and their pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors in Denmark, Sweden, Spain, and Romania. To do this, we use data from the International Civic and Citizenship Study (ICCS:22) and employ hierarchical level modeling. We found that students with higher civic knowledge and greater confidence in their ability to be active citizens were more likely to report both pro-environmental behaviors and positive attitudes in every country studied. Socioeconomic status also showed positive links with environmental engagement. Digital media use was linked to more pro-environmental behaviors …

The current study assessed the role of weight status on poly-substance use trajectories across young adulthood.Methods1,303 young adults (20.5 ± 2.3 years; 63% female; 41% Latina/o/x, 30% Asian-American/Asian, 18% Caucasian/White) from a public, urban university were surveyed at six-month intervals from spring 2021 (W1) to spring 2023 (W5). Weight status was measured …

Synergetics In Complex Adaptive Systems, Joseph C. Mckinley Oct 2025

Synergetics In Complex Adaptive Systems, Joseph C. Mckinley

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Synergetics is an emerging paradigm which quantitatively describes and predicts the dynamics of complex living and nonliving systems. It has illuminated how complex systems can spontaneously self-organize by coordinating the activity of their constituent components toward some coherent, collective behavior. This coordinated activity can produce complex macroscopic spatiotemporal patterns without the need for central planning. In this dissertation, we develop and explore generalizations of the Haken-Kelso-Bunz (HKB) model of coordination dynamics. These generalizations include modeling higher-dimensional systems of coupled multistable oscillators with arbitrary diversity and coupling parameters, where the system components have the capacity to “learn” or adapt their intrinsic …

Scaling Down Safe: Can The Scaled Agile Framework Be Adopted By Small And Medium Enterprises? A Multiple Case Study, Ritchie Piessens, Pascal Ravesteyn, Benny De Waal

Communications of the IIMA

The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) has gained significant traction in recent years as a strategy to mitigate the risks associated with traditional front-end planning, which often results in downstream development challenges. The adoption of SAFe is not common for Small- and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), as its implementation is often perceived as complex, time-consuming and resource-intensive. However, the application of SAFe can add value for SMEs as well, when adapted and scaled down for use in those organisations. This qualitative multiple case study was undertaken to deepen our understanding of the applicability of the seven core competencies of SAFe in business …

The Black Community’S Appraisal Of Collective Trauma Events: Impact On Help-Seeking Behavior Intentions, Cherylle Ann Chapman Oct 2025

The Black Community’S Appraisal Of Collective Trauma Events: Impact On Help-Seeking Behavior Intentions, Cherylle Ann Chapman

ETD Collection

Collective trauma is the psychological and emotional response to shared mass tragedies that impact entire communities and large groups of people. Individuals respond to these events in different ways, depending on factors such as their socioeconomic status, previous trauma exposure, the severity of the event, and their proximity to it. The effects of mass tragedies such as natural disasters, COVID-19, or neighborhood violence are heterogeneous. Some people may withdraw or isolate, while others have been found to exhibit resilience and psychosocial improvement. While previous research has primarily investigated collective trauma within the general population, less is known about how individuals …
