Before The War: The Impact Of Minority Stress On Palestinian Muslim Women In The United States, Rimah Jaber
Education Student Dissertations
This study explored the lived experiences of first- and second-generation Palestinian Muslim women (PMW) living in the US. Participants were 11 women between the ages of 20 and 33 from various regions across the country. The methodology included a phenomenological approach within a constructivist–interpretivist paradigm to conduct one-on-one, semistructured interviews. Participants shared their stories during online interviews, which were recorded and transcribed before data analysis. Guided by the embodied intersectionality framework and minority stress theory, the analysis yielded two superordinate themes with two subthemes each: (a) perceived discrimination (subthemes: stressors of living in the diaspora and erasure and disclosure of …

Llm-Based Stock Sentiment And Market Intelligence Platform, Joshua Thrower, Andrew Pinkerton, Ian Duggan, Wyatt Lester
ATU Scholars Symposium
Financial markets increasingly react to social media discourse, yet investors lack tools to translate this unstructured commentary into measurable indicators. Platforms such as YouTube host extensive discussions about publicly traded equities, but extracting reliable sentiment trends from high-volume, noisy comment streams remains technically challenging. This project develops a stock sentiment and market intelligence platform that transforms YouTube comment data into aggregated sentiment indicators aligned to specific equities. Comments are mapped to equities using ticker specific keyword identification combined with contextual filtering to reduce false associations from ambiguous or off-topic mentions. The system assigns numerical sentiment scores to individual comments and …

Jurnal Pendidikan Humaniora
The acceleration and optimization of an individual's development can surpass that of their peers, with disparities emerging from age-related, genetic, dietary, and environmental factors. A profound understanding of human development serves as a crucial foundation for comprehending an individual's needs and character, particularly among elementary-aged children. Defined as those aged 7-12 years or encompassed within the educational system, this demographic necessitates a thorough examination of their cognitive development. Cognitive development constitutes an extensive domain that encompasses various thinking abilities, such as reasoning, memory, problem-solving, ideation, and creativity. Consequently, the present study embarks on a substantive and comprehensive analysis of the …

The Use Of Grammarly Programs And Noticing Activities To Evaluate Students' Academic Writing Skills, Sarah Aslamiyah, Sicily Halimi Setiawati
Jurnal Pendidikan Humaniora
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using corrective feedback from Grammarly combined with notification activities to evaluate students' academic writing. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental method design was used to analyze the academic writing of students in the fourth semester of the English Education department at a private university in Sidoarjo. The result of this study was that the experimental class had a higher average score than the control class. This is in line with a significant decrease in grammatical errors in students' academic writing in experimental classrooms. This proves that using corrective feedback from Grammarly combined …

Preparing Nursing Students To Support Healthy Work Environments By Teaching Stress First Aid, Veronica Betts, Courtney E. Reinisch, Brenda Marshall
Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Stress First Aid (SFA), is an evidence-based education program developed to address stress experienced by front line servicemen in the US military. This leadership and peer support model promotes mental wellness by teaching specific coping skills that build resilience an individual can access in times of stress (NJ NEW, 2025). The SFA training has been demonstrated to decrease stress in nursing staff. Nursing faculty have an ethical responsibility to provide education that promotes wellbeing, resilience, supporting prelicensure nursing students with skills to successfully transition into their roles as nurses (Sinmileoluwa et al., 2020).
Including SFA in nursing education prepares future …

Pain Catastrophizing As A Distinct Predictor Of Pain Interference Among Veterans, Annie Zusin, Emily Rabinowitz, Victoria E. Carlin, Qiuxi Huang, Joseph W. Ditre
Voices of Service Symposium
Introduction: Pain catastrophizing, defined as a cognitive distortion that magnifies threat of pain, is a strong predictor of pain interference. However, the construct of pain catastrophizing has been criticized for potentially reflecting underlying psychopathology rather than a distinct pain-specific process. The present study examined whether pain catastrophizing uniquely predicts pain interference after accounting for symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Clarifying this distinction is critical for understanding whether the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) captures a construct that is meaningfully distinct from general psychological distress or if the measure is conceptually and statistically redundant with psychopathology Method: A sample of 266 …

Co-Occurring Hallucinogen Use And Mental Health Symptoms, Emerson Hoagland, Grant H. Ripley, Joseph W. Ditre, Dessa Bergen-Cico
Voices of Service Symposium
Introduction: Mental health concerns, including depression and psychological distress, remain highly prevalent among U.S. military veterans and are associated with elevated functional impairment, suicide risk, and barriers to care. Public discourse increasingly suggests the potential therapeutic effects of psychedelic substances in treating mental illness. However, population-level data examining associations between psychedelic use and mental health burden among U.S. military veterans remain limited. The present study examined associations between past-year hallucinogen use and past-year major depressive episode (MDE) and serious psychological distress (SPD) among veterans. Method: Data were drawn from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2021-2024). Analyses were …

Associations Between Psychological Distress And Benzodiazepine Use And Misuse Among U.S. Veterans, Joshua Soh, Victoria E. Carlin, Joon Kyung Nam, Joseph W. Ditre
Voices of Service Symposium
Introduction: Psychological distress, defined as a generalized state of emotional suffering characterized by depressive and anxiety symptoms, is common among U.S. military veterans. The use of benzodiazepines, which are central nervous system depressants often used to treat symptoms of anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and insomnia, is also prevalent in this population despite ongoing concerns regarding dependence, misuse, and potential adverse mental health outcomes. Although benzodiazepines may provide short-term symptom relief, both their use and misuse may contribute to increases in symptoms of psychological distress. As such, this study examines the relationship between psychological distress and BZD use and misuse among …

Ai-Human Relationship Experiences, Ari Rad
Ai-Human Relationship Experiences, Ari Rad
SACAD: Scholarly Activities
Recent scholarly research regarding “human–chatbot relationships
(HCRs)” demonstrates that users often report having developed
meaningful connections with artificial intelligence. Although the
initial exposure to AI chatbots is seemingly predicated on users’
“curiosity,” the data suggest that “loneliness” is a precursor that
maintains the use of chatbots (Skjuve et al., 2022; Skjuve et al.,
2023). A cross-sectional mixed-method survey study demonstrated
that “loneliness” and “lower perceived social support” are among the
initiators of the use of chatbots for companionship (Herbener &
Damholdt, 2025).
The unique characteristics of these AI companions (e.g., being
socially safe, nonjudgmental, and always available) have brought
forth …

Blessing Or Burden?: Parental Religiosity And Lgbtq Adolescent Well-Being, Emma S. Griffitts, Lindsey Maner, Adam Rogers
FHSS Mentored Research Conference
This study investigated the associations between parent religiosity and their LGBTQ teen's psychological risk and resilience factors. LGBTQ youth showed higher risk factors, but parent religiosity also predicted greater resilience, mediated by child religiosity. These effects were stronger among LGBTQ teens than non-LGBTQ teens, suggesting that their internalized faith may lead to increased coping and well-being in minority contexts.
