Character Building In Online And Face-To-Face Efl Classrooms In Junior High School: The Strategies And Challenges

This study aimed to scrutinize EFL teachers’ strategies and challenges of character building in online and face-to-face classrooms. This case study involved two seventh grade English teachers as the subjects. The findings revealed that the teachers’ strategies of character building in seventh grade EFL classrooms were through the use of speech acts, modeling, rule reinforcement, and habituation. However, the strategies to use in the online and face-to-face classrooms were different. The challenges the teachers faced during the teaching and learning process were time allotment, the absence of English in some elementary schools, and the zoning system.

The development of ICT has been recognized as an important aspect in today's EFL classroom. Due to the low achievement of Indonesian EFL's writing, video-based mobile learning is believed to be able to enhance the students writing skill. The flexibility and the practicality of mobile learning through video project offer a solution to English teachers in facilitating the students' language learning and fostering the students' engagement in authentic - real life context at their interests. This paper aims at presenting the literature review on the benefits of video-based mobile learning and its implementation in EFL's writing.

Many children on the autism spectrum have difficulty developing prelinguistic skills

such as joint attention, purposeful vocalization, and gesture, which are strongly

related to later expressive and receptive language development. This systematic

review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of music-based interventions in

supporting the development of these foundational prelinguistic skills in young

children on the autism spectrum. Five databases were searched, yielding a total of

332 results. Five articles ultimately met criteria for inclusion. Results of these studies

were mixed, with studies in which the intervention was delivered by a professional

US college students face psychological challenges from academic pressure and social demands. Informal mindfulness practices may help reduce stress and improve mental well-being. Previous studies have looked at informal contemplative practices in daily life. However, none have studied skincare as a mindfulness practice. This study investigates whether incorporating informal mindfulness into skincare routines can enhance well-being, life satisfaction, and mindfulness in US college students.

Non-adherence to prescribed home exercise programs significantly undermines the efficacy of physical therapy (PT), with research indicating only approximately 35% of patients fully adhere to regimens. This issue contributes to suboptimal recovery and places a staggering financial burden on the healthcare system, estimated at $100 billion to $300 billion annually. The Physical Therapy Home Exercise Adherence Trial (PT-HEAT) evaluates the effectiveness of a 14-week behavioral education intervention designed to improve patient adherence outside the clinical setting.

This study explores inmates’ perceptions of educational services in Southeast Nigerian prisons, focusing on their role in rehabilitation and reintegration. Using a qualitative design grounded in the capability approach and interpretive phenomenological analysis, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with 15 convicted inmates across three correctional facilities in Southeast Nigeria. Interviews were conducted in English and Nigerian Pidgin, and analyzed using NVivo 12. Findings revealed three major themes: the relevance and accessibility of educational programs, benefits such as improved self-worth, skill acquisition, and hope for reintegration, and key barriers like limited access, inadequate resources, and institutional apathy. Lymphedema is a chronic condition that can significantly impact physical function, psychosocial well-being, and participation in meaningful occupations. Although traditional management primarily focuses on physical symptom reduction, gaps remain in addressing long-term participation and quality of life, particularly among underserved populations. The purpose of this capstone project was to develop an occupation-based support group manual designed to support both the physical and psychosocial needs of adults living with lymphedema.

This study aimed at researching how YouTube Tutorial Videos can improve students' speaking skill in performing procedure text. It employs Collaborative Action Research adapting Kemmis and Taggart design, which covers 1) planning, 2) implementing, 3) observing, 4) reflecting. Result of the study showed that the students' speaking skill was improving in three aspects 1) accuracy, 2) fluency, 3) performance. However, it was revealed that native English speaker (NES) videos are not helpful for the students, especially the low-level student. Non-native English speaker (NNES) videos were more helpful for the students because they tend to speak slower with clearer articulation.

This study aimed to test the effect of basic psychological needs toward the school well-being. This quantitative study uses a causal relationship research design. A total of 150 students were taken from six primary schools using a multi stage cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected by using two types of instruments, namely instruments to measure basic psychological needs; and instruments to measure school well-being. Data then analyzed by using regression. This study was conducted to reveal the effectiveness of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) implementation on writing achievement by considering the level of students' self-efficacy. The findings revealed that CIRC contribute a better effect on student' writing achievement than conventional method. This also revealed that writing achievement was higher on students who categorized in high self-efficacy than those categorized in low self-efficacy. Furthermore, it was noted that self-efficacy and teaching method had no interaction.

Flipped-classroom strategy, as the name suggests, flips the conventional teaching and learning process. In a flipped classroom, students learn the materials at home in an online platform (out-class) and then they learn more through discussion with their peers in the classroom (in-class). This study focuses on students' perceptions of the activities in a flipped academic writing classroom. The result shows that the activities were able to help students to learn and improve their academic writing. In addition, students also gave positive responses to the use of teaching media and peer feedback sessions.

This research is aimed at (1) finding out whether the EFL students taught using Google docs show better writing ability than those taught without using Google docs, (2) discovering if there is a significant difference in writing ability between the introverted students and extroverted students taught using Google docs. The results showed that the mean score of experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group. When it comes to personality learning styles, there was no significant difference in the mean scores obtained by the extroverted students and introverted students.

This study is of significance to provide a model of strategies practiced by successful EFL students who manage to develop good command of English regardless certain limitations and challenges they face. The results of this study show the students actively employ a combination of affective and cognitive-social learning strategies to develop their English skills.

ReadyRead is an Android-based application which provides several features for scaffolding reading comprehension practice. It is the product of Design-Based Research. The present study examined high school students’ experience in using the application. An online questionnaire was employed to gather information on students’ opinions regarding the content, learning activities, and usability of the app. Results of the data analysis revealed the most favorable feature in the app perceived to be the most helpful for students in learning reading independently.
