Clinical trials are increasingly using remote monitoring techniques at the patient's home. We conducted a secondary analysis of remote safety and tolerability monitoring from two fully-remote clinical trials that tested fluvoxamine for the acute treatment of COVID-19. Both trials assessed pulse and blood pressure daily, and one study assessed symptoms daily via Ecological Momentary Assessment. On average, patients provided data on vital signs on 93% of the study days and provided data on side effects on 81% of the study days. With respect to safety, patients taking fluvoxamine had reduced pulse rate compared to placebo, with the greatest difference-5 points-at …

The Artichoke Model is a conceptual framework developed to support the understanding of the breadth and influence of food environments in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) settings. It identifies twelve interrelated components spanning food provision, mealtime practices, curriculum integration, staff capacity, family engagement, and systemic enablers such as policy, equity, and environmental sustainability. Represented visually as an artichoke with the child at its centre, the model encourages holistic analysis, recognising that sustainable change requires the interconnected operation of all components, rather than isolated interventions. The Artichoke Model is intended as a tool for researchers, policymakers, and advocates to guide …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Vapour pressure deficit (VPD) and blue light (BL) are import signals for stomatal regulation and highly relevant during cultivation of economically important crops such as cucumber in controlled environments. However, the information about combined effects of VPD and BL and the regulation of abscisic acid (ABA) in this respect, is limited and seems to vary between species. This study investigated how moderate (1.12 kPa) or low (0.28 kPa) VPD combined with 5% or 30% BL affect the foliar ABA metabolism, transpiration rate, nutrient uptake, and growth in well-watered cucumber plants (Cucumis sativus ‘Quatro’). Additional BL, regardless of VPD, resulted in …

Time Alters Distinct Memories Driven By Sensory Prediction Errors And Task Errors In Sensorimotor Adaptation, Li Ann Leow, Welber Marinovic, Scott Albert, Timothy J. Carroll Jul 2025

Time Alters Distinct Memories Driven By Sensory Prediction Errors And Task Errors In Sensorimotor Adaptation, Li Ann Leow, Welber Marinovic, Scott Albert, Timothy J. Carroll

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Prior learning can impair future learning when the requirements of the two memories conflict, a phenomenon termed anterograde interference. In sensorimotor adaptation, the passage of time between initial and future learning can reduce such interference effects, leading to the interpretation that time consolidates motor memories, protecting motor memories from interference. However, we still do not fully understand how time affects learning, as some studies found no effects of time on interference. One possible explanation for such inconclusive findings is that time has distinct effects on the multiple processes underpinning sensorimotor adaptation, and these processes may compensate for each other's effects …
