Nutritional Quality Of Subterranean Clover Cultivars In West Central Spain, B Garcia-Criado, A Garcia-Ciudad, M Rico-Rodriguez, L Garcia-Criado
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
The nutritional quality of 61 subterranean clover (Trifolium subterraneum L.) cultivars was studied, during 1982, in the province of Salamanca (semiarid zone of west central Spain). Plant samples were collected at the late-bloom stage and were analyzed for protein, carbohydrates and digestibility. The levels of all these constituents fluctuated within acceptable ranges. Higher relative variability was observed in respect of hemicellulose, protein and lignin, while the digestibility values presented lower relative variability. The latter ranged from 71.1 to 76.1 % with a mean of 73.3%, while protein values ranged from 11.1 to 19.4% with a mean of 14.0%. Chemical …
Effects Of Frequency And Height Of Defoliation On Forage Yield And Crude Protein Content Of Flemingia Macrophylla (Flemingia), E O. Asare
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Defoliation studies were conducted over a period of 3 years on the same stands to determine the effects of 3 heights 5, 20 and 35cm and 3 intervals, 8, 12 and 14 weeks of cutting on leaf dry matter (DM) yield and nutritive value of Flemingia macrophylla (Flemingia) a potential fodder shrub. Both height and interval of cutting had significant effect on leaf DM yield. There was significant interaction between frequency and height of cutting. Leaf DM yield decreased with lowering of cutting height and increased through increasing interval between cuts. The 14-week cutting interval and 35cm cutting height treatment …

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice
Background: Pulmonary emboli (PE) have a significant incident rate of 112.3 per 100,000 adults. When age-weighted, the population over 75 has an incident rate of 1 out of 100. 90% of deaths from acute cases occur within two hours of the onset of symptoms. In pregnancy-related deaths, 20% are attributed to PE, and pregnancy increases the risk of the development of PE by 400 – 600%. Significant risk factors for PE include COPD, obesity, recent trauma or surgery, a history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a history of hormonal therapy, smoking, and pregnancy. Purpose: This literature review discusses how PE …

The Relationship Between Fast Food Consumption And Physical Activity With Primary Dysmenorrhea In Adolescents, Wahyuni Wahyuni
Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia
Background: Menstruation is a bleeding event that occurs when the inner lining of the uterus, known as the endometrium, sheds. Dysmenorrhea is one of the symptoms that teenage girls often feel during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea can affect women's comfort and quality of life. There are two types of dysmenorrhoea, namely primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhoea. Primary dysmenorrhoea refers to the condition of menstrual pain that adolescent girls often experience, with a prevalence rate of 60-90%. Risk factors for primary dysmenorrhoea are influenced by several factors, including fast food intake, physical activity level, stress level, age at first menstruation (menarche), and nutritional …

Phenytoin is commonly used for seizure prophylaxis in patients with traumatic brain injury at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. However, phenytoin therapeutic drug monitoring is not available in this low-resource setting. Anecdotes of breakthrough seizures in patients on phenytoin from healthcare providers at this institution prompted this quality improvement study. This study aimed to characterize prescribing practices for phenytoin and other antiepileptic drugs and then identify improvement strategies for seizure prophylaxis in patients with traumatic brain injury. A retrospective medical chart review was conducted to retrieve information, including dosage and timing of all antiepileptic drugs prescribed in relation …
