A Macarian-Wesleyan Theology Of Mission, Matt Friedman
A Macarian-Wesleyan Theology Of Mission, Matt Friedman
The Asbury Journal
In this paper, Iwill begin by providing an outline of the development of the theology of union with God, or theoric. I will have a particular focus on fourth-century Syrian monk Macarius-Symeon, whose Fifty Spiritual Homilies had an influence on early Pietism and early Methodism From there, I will seek to demonstrate how John and Charles Wesley, as well as their colleagues such as John Fletcher in the first generation of Methodist leadership, sought to critically fold this understanding into their own teaching regarding justification, sanctification and the ultimate goal of those who walk in union with God in …

Rapidly Rotating Lenses: Repeating Features In The Light Curves Of Short-Period Binary Microlenses, Matthew T. Penny, Eamonn Kerins, Shude Mao
Rapidly Rotating Lenses: Repeating Features In The Light Curves Of Short-Period Binary Microlenses, Matthew T. Penny, Eamonn Kerins, Shude Mao
Faculty Publications
Microlensing is most sensitive to binary lenses with relatively large orbital separations, and as such, typical binary microlensing events show little or no orbital motion during the event. However, despite the strength of binary microlensing features falling off rapidly as the lens separation decreases, we show that it is possible to detect repeating features in the light curve of binary microlenses that complete several orbits during the microlensing event. We investigate the light-curve features of such rapidly rotating lens (RRL) events. We derive analytical limits on the range of parameters where these effects are detectable, and confirm these numerically. Using …

Hiring School Counselors In Faith-Based Schools, Robert J. Murray
Hiring School Counselors In Faith-Based Schools, Robert J. Murray
Journal of Catholic Education
Although school counseling candidates in faith-based schools may possess an extraordinary résumé, it is essential that their beliefs and behaviors be compatible with the mission and philosophy of the school for which they are interviewing. If hiring practices are not addressed in faith-based schools, these schools run the risk of losing their identity. This article offers a pastoral model for interviewing and hiring Catholic school counselors. It is a model that assists school leaders and those responsible for hiring school counselors in faith-based schools to transform what would otherwise be a functional job into a pastoral ministry, thereby advancing the …
The Antarctic Broadband Demonstration Nanosatellite: Fast Internet For The Bottom Of The Earth, Grant Bonin, Robert Zee, Michael Brett, Jan King
The Antarctic Broadband Demonstration Nanosatellite: Fast Internet For The Bottom Of The Earth, Grant Bonin, Robert Zee, Michael Brett, Jan King
Small Satellite Conference
High bandwidth communications is the largest sector of the commercial satellite industry. While micro- and nanosatellites have yet to service this market on a commercial basis, it is expected that such spacecraft will play an increasing role in the communications industry, with initial applications likely to be in niches that cannot be readily or easily addressed by traditional service providers. Antarctica is one such niche. Communication needs in the Antarctic are increasing rapidly, with high growth rates in operational and scientific activities across the continent. Traditional space and terrestrial communication solutions will not be able to meet these needs in …
