Jurnal Wacana Politik

This research explores the transformative impact of social media on political campaigns, particularly in the context of Malaysia’s 15th General Election (GE15). Social media platforms as a political campaigning tool highlight its influence on young voters and their perceptions of political figures. In addition, social media has revolutionized the dynamics of political engagement, it has also introduced challenges such as the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and unequal access among political parties. This research applied a qualitative method by comparing various literatures. Leveraging The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study aims to analyze how social media influences election outcomes and …

Recommendations For Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration For Early Career Dissemination And Implementation Researchers: A Multi-Phase Study, Hannah G Lane, Sallie D Allgood, Julie Schexnayder, Hayden B Bosworth, Ana A Baumann, Allison A Lewinski

2020-Current year OA Pubs

INTRODUCTION: Dissemination and implementation (D&I) scientists are key members of collaborative, interdisciplinary clinical and translational research teams. Yet, early career D&I researchers (ECRs) have few guidelines for cultivating productive research collaborations. We developed recommendations for ECRs in D&I when serving as collaborators or co-investigators.

METHODS: We employed a consensus-building approach: (1) group discussions to identify 3 areas of interest: "Marketing yourself" (describing your value to non-D&I collaborators), "Collaboration considerations

RESULTS: Forty-four D&I researchers completed the first survey, 12 of whom attended one of three focus groups. Twenty-nine D&I researchers completed the second survey (

CONCLUSIONS: Research collaborations are essential in …

Watching Films In The Age Of Distraction, Shi Chang

Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art

Distraction is the misallocation of attention, often considered as one of the consequences of modernity. German scholars in Weimar represented by Siegfried Kracauer and Walter Benjamin consider moving images as continuous “visual stimuli”, which audience accept with distraction while having no time for contemplation. Paul Virilio and some scholars of media economy consider images as endless “perception supply”, thinking that accelerated supply of images will eventually lead to a lack of audience concentration, followed by various media's fierce competition and ruthless capture of the audience. Today, while video products are incredibly abundant and more accessible, audience become increasingly insouciant. They …

The Intelligible And Sensible Image, Gao Xin

Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art

The burgeoning field of interdisciplinary image studies is compelling art history to reevaluate its boundaries. Images that exist as formulas or subject programs circulating without a medium require an iconological reading to decipher their symbolism, while the images with a physical presence necessitate insights from media studies are needed to understand their stylistic and technical aspects. Each act of viewing demands that the viewer's embodied experience with the images be considered through anthropological or metapsychological lenses. By embracing multiple methodologies, art history can facilitate a deeper engagement with images. This approach would not seek to intellectualize the images or exhaust …

Projections And Perceptions Editorial Comment: The Human Factor In Recent Climate Change Remains Unproven, Carl F. Ojala

The Geographical Bulletin

Global warming, the theory and controversy involving artificial enhancement of the greenhouse effect of the atmosphere, has emerged as one of the prime environmental issues of recent years. Proponents conclude it may produce serious worldwide problems in the near future, such as rising sea levels, geographic shifts in farming and forest regions, and changes in agricultural yields, water resources, and wetlands. Conversely, skeptics imply that any warming due to proposed increases in greenhouse gases is undetectable and unpredictable among the natural variations in long-term atmospheric temperatures.

Mission Success: Mastering Muscle Function Through Humanoid Analysis, Amber M. Chelette

Educational Practices in Kinesiology

Knowledge of muscle function and human movement are essential skills of all kinesiology students. In the humanoid activity, teams are challenged to determine whether a muscle is essential to the successful development of a humanoid being sent to Mars. This activity provides a significant learning experience regarding muscle anatomy, function, and movement analysis. The humanoid activity is intended for use in a face-to-face upper-level kinesiology anatomy or movement analysis course and best implemented with class sizes of 20-30 students. The total time commitment is approximately 45 minutes.

City Of Grants Pass V. Johnson: The Limits Of The Eighth Amendment’S Cruel And Unusual Punishments Clause, Erik W. Stanley Jan 2025

City Of Grants Pass V. Johnson: The Limits Of The Eighth Amendment’S Cruel And Unusual Punishments Clause, Erik W. Stanley

Liberty University Law Review

The case of City of Grants Pass v. Johnson arose against the backdrop of a rising homeless population not seen before and the struggles cities faced with addressing this rise in homelessness and the proliferation of homeless encampments in urban areas. The case presented the question whether the City of Grants Pass ordinances that prohibited the homeless from sleeping or camping outside constituted cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Both the District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals held that it did. The United States Supreme Court reversed, finding that the …

Who Can Stand? Murthy V. Missouri And Social Media Censorship, Natalie C. Rhoads Jan 2025

Who Can Stand? Murthy V. Missouri And Social Media Censorship, Natalie C. Rhoads

Liberty University Law Review

As the influence of social media proliferates, two things increase accordingly: government attempts to control it and the law’s attempt to provide a coherent framework. There are ongoing conversations both within and without the legal community about the extent to which individuals have a right against the social media companies to create or consume content. But the Court in Murthy v. Missouri had a chance to sidestep those questions and address whether individuals have a right against the government to curb its influence on those companies. This issue has the potential to be one of the most significant questions in …

Journal of Aviation Technology and Engineering

Purpose. Brazilian airport operators face persistent challenges from wildlife hazards to aircraft operations, necessitating the development and implementation or review of existing wildlife hazard management plans. Design/methodology. The researchers utilized two main datasets: the Brazilian National Wildlife Strike Database and the annual reports on aircraft traffic operations published by the Brazilian Department of Airspace Control. For this study, wildlife …

The United States Of America V. Darren Seals, Tony Gaskew Jan 2025

The United States Of America V. Darren Seals, Tony Gaskew

Peace and Conflict Studies Journal Conference

The United States of America has an insatiable appetite for the corpses of Black men. Although only a silent whisper in the field of conflict resolution, Black men and boys face unprecedented levels of state-sponsored direct, structural, and metaphysical violence. Empirical evidence regarding disparities within the nuanced constructs of police killings, stop-and-frisk searches, educational attainment, unemployment, mortality rates, mass incarceration, and all forms of covert counterinsurgency (COIN) operations shows that Black men are without question, enemies of the state and what Leonard Harris calls the ultimate “necro-being.” You see, on September 6, 2016, 29-year-old Black male anti-police activist Darren Seals …

Christian Legal Education: From Bologna To Lynchburg And Beyond, Jeffrey C. Tuomala Jan 2025

Christian Legal Education: From Bologna To Lynchburg And Beyond, Jeffrey C. Tuomala

Liberty University Law Review

From a historical perspective of the last millennium, the founding of Liberty University School of Law—a school committed to establishing the Christian foundation for legal education—in 2004 is not a historical anomaly; it is the norm. A major catalyst for the birth of what Harold J. Berman calls the Western legal tradition was the Papal Revolution of the eleventh century, which established the church’s independence from civil authorities. The founding of a law school in Bologna, Italy, was coincident with that revolution. Especially in the past 150 years, that developing legal tradition, based on the foundations of a fundamentally Christian …
