Collaboration In The Spread Of Missionary Christianity In Africa: The Case Of The Apostolic Church Of Nigeria, Caleb Abiodun Adeleye, Oluwasegun Peter Aluko

Zamani: A Journal of African Historical Studies

This article explores the significance of collaboration in the spread of missionary Christianity in Africa through a historical study of The Apostolic Church of Nigeria (TACN). It examines how the partnership between British missionaries and Nigerian leaders produced a hybrid mission model that combined Western ecclesiastical structure with African spirituality. Drawing on historical records, church documents, and existing scholarship, the article adopts a narrative–analytical method to trace how figures such as Pastors George Perfect, Idris J Vaughan and DO Odubanjo negotiated issues of theology, finance and cultural identity. The study finds that collaboration initially fostered institutional growth and doctrinal development …

Introduction. Liver cirrhosis is a chronic condition associated with severe complications, including esophageal variceal bleeding, which carries high morbidity and mortality rates. Approximately 60% of patients with cirrhosis experience recurrent bleeding within one year, with a mortality rate of 20–60% within six weeks after the initial bleeding episode. Therefore, identifying predictors of recurrent bleeding is essential for improving preventive strategies. This study aimed to identify predictors of recurrent esophageal variceal bleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis and to develop a predictive model.

Methods. This retrospective study included 220 patients with liver cirrhosis and a history of esophageal variceal …

Introduction. Apolipoproteins are structural components of plasma lipoproteins that are involved in lipoprotein metabolism and lipid transport, reflecting the number of circulating atherogenic particles. The degree of coronary artery stenosis can be assessed by calculating the Synergy between PCI with TAXUS/paclitaxel-eluting stent and Cardiac Surgery (SYNTAX) score, which is an angiographic scoring system used to evaluate the complexity of coronary artery lesions. This study aimed to investigate the profile of apolipoprotein B and lipids, as well as their correlation with the SYNTAX score in patients with chronic coronary syndrome.

Methods. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design …

Konstitusionalitas Kebijakan Penanaman Modal Asing Sebagai Penerapan Konsep Hak Menguasai Negara Menurut Uud Nri 1945, Rico Novianto, Satya Arinanto, Fatmawati Fatmawati

Jurnal Konstitusi & Demokrasi

This article analyzes how the state position in foreign investment as an instrument for realizing public prosperity. Throughout the history of Indonesian governance, foreign capital has been a tool that can be used and has its own constitutional basis. However, if it is too large and the lack of adequate regulation of foreign investment to maintain the investment climate, it has become one of the causes of the economic and multidimensional crisis, especially around 1998 in Indonesia. In fact, the constitution has mandated an economic system based on the concept of state control, the principles of economic democracy, and the …

Discourse Representation Of Self And Other In The 2020 Trump-Biden Presidential Debates, Victor Babajide Ogunleye, Adesina B. Sunday

Journal of English and Applied Linguistics

Presidential aspirants in the United States engage in debates during campaigns as a medium of enlightening the electorate. Existing studies on the American presidential debates have largely focused on politeness, rhetoric, syntax, and gender, with little attention to the strategies employed to construct the self and opponent(s). Therefore, this research investigates the discourse representation in the presidential debates between Trump and Biden using van Dijk’s socio-cognitive model of critical discourse analysis. Ten excerpts were purposively selected for their relevance in illustrating representation strategies. The analysis revealed positive self-representation and negative other-representation. Positive self-representation featured the self as competent, honest, altruistic, …

Jurnal Nasional Kesehatan Lingkungan Global

Infant mortality remains a worrying public health issue, particularly in areas with poor access to drinking water and sanitation. In 2020, Papua Province recorded an infant mortality rate of 49.04 per 1,000 live births and West Papua 47.23. These figures are far above the national average. This study aims to determine the relationship between access to safe drinking water and infant mortality rates in provinces in Indonesia. This study used an ecological design with secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey and the 2023 Directorate of Public Health. The analysis was descriptive and followed by a Spearman correlation test. …

Framing China In Conflict Reporting: A Critical Discourse Analysis Of Transitivity In Chinese And Western Media, Tingting Geng, Hongmei Tang

Journal of English and Applied Linguistics

This study employs a corpus-based critical discourse analysis (CDA) grounded in Halliday’s transitivity framework to investigate how China’s diplomatic stance is discursively constructed within conflict reporting. Focusing on media coverage of the Russian-Ukrainian War and the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict (2023), the study investigates how Chinese and Western mainstream media depict China’s stance. Based on a self-built corpus of 153 news reports and analyzed via AntConc, the study quantitatively and qualitatively identifies distinct patterns in the use of transitivity processes across the two corpora. The research reveals that Chinese media highlight the outlook for future peace-building initiatives, portraying China as a country …

Al-Esraa University College Journal for Medical Sciences

Dental caries is the most common disease that poses a threat to human health. As a result, caries prevention is crucial because it is now a major global public health issue. Nowadays, there is more focus on employing nanoscale medication delivery devices to prevent dental cavities. Here, an antibacterial activity of CDs synthesis with allover plant by measuring the turbidity and bacterial colony after the effect of CDs NPs on the one-off gram-positive bacteria streptococcus mutans that cause dental caries. The results showed significant (p < 0.05) concentration of 10, 15, 25 μ g/mL of CDs NPs. Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis showed the effect of CDs NPs on the bacterial cell, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) that showed the size, shape and the attachment of Nanoparticles to the bacterial cell wall that support the effect of nanoparticles on bacteria. When compared to chemical and physical procedures, environmentally friendly technologies can produce simple, easy, and affordable nanoparticles. has the capacity to function as antimicrobial agents.

The data were analyzed using direct interpretation and categorical aggregation. The findings show that …

Building An Inclusive Workforce: Closing Equity Gaps In Community Colleges And Vocational Schools With Elliott’S Embodied Inclusion 360 Framework Plain Language Summary, Niki Elliott Ph.D. Jun 2026

Building An Inclusive Workforce: Closing Equity Gaps In Community Colleges And Vocational Schools With Elliott’S Embodied Inclusion 360 Framework Plain Language Summary, Niki Elliott Ph.D.

Inclusion in Postsecondary Education

This paper explains why community colleges and vocational schools need to do more to support students who are neurodiverse (such as students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or mental health conditions), especially students of color and men of color. Community colleges and vocational schools serve millions of students and are often the main path to good-paying jobs in the skilled trades. However, many students who enroll, especially students with disabilities and students of color, do not complete their programs. The article argues that schools must move beyond basic disability accommodations and instead redesign how they teach, support, and structure learning environments.

Journal of English and Applied Linguistics

This study examines the visibility and invisibility of sexuality-related terms in four Asian Englishes using data from the International Corpus of English (ICE). Drawing on Wilkinson’s (2022) sexuality-related lexical set and informed by scholarship on heteronormativity, the study analyzes the proportional visibility of 19 target lexemes across Englishes in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, and India. The findings show that only a small subset of terms (gay, lesbian, same sex, sexual preference, bisexual, and sexual orientation) appear in the corpora, and even these occur at low frequencies. Among these, gay emerges as the most recurrent. The remaining terms are not …
