Effective Strategies Remote Business Leaders Use For Monitoring And Improving Remote Employees’ Performance, Lama Najem May 2025

Effective Strategies Remote Business Leaders Use For Monitoring And Improving Remote Employees’ Performance, Lama Najem

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The shift to remote work has created leadership challenges in communication, career development, performance monitoring, trust, and time management. Remote business leaders are increasingly concerned about maintaining employee engagement and productivity, as ineffective leadership strategies can result in disengagement, reduced performance, and higher turnover in virtual work environments. Grounded in transformational leadership theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to identify and explore effective strategies that remote business leaders used to support work-from-home employees and sustain organizational performance. The participants were eight remote team business leaders from the United States, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. Data were …

Ni Mulatas De Rumbo, Ni Negras Lavanderas Ni Feministas: Otra Historia Republicana De Las Afrocubanas, Alejandro L. Fernández Calderón

PALARA: Publication of the Afro-Latin/American Research Association

Guest Speakers In The Classroom: Student Perceptions Of Expertise, Lauren Angle

Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning

Guest speakers are frequently used at the collegiate level and have clear benefits for students. However, little research has been conducted about the use of guest speakers in a high school social studies setting. The purpose of this study was to understand how participation in an expert guest speaker discussion influenced high school freshmen’s understanding of conflict in the Middle East as well as their perceptions of expertise. Data was collected through student artifacts, surveys, observations, and focus group interviews and analyzed using the constant comparative method as well as descriptive statistics. The major themes of improved knowledge, desired changes, …

How Does Snap Access Prior To Pregnancy Affect Maternal And Infant Health Outcomes?, Sarah Hamersma, Mitch Mcfarlane May 2025

How Does Snap Access Prior To Pregnancy Affect Maternal And Infant Health Outcomes?, Sarah Hamersma, Mitch Mcfarlane

Center for Policy Research

Consistent access to healthy food even before pregnancy can play a role in maternal and child health. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food assistance to low-income individuals, including those who do not yet have children (often classified as Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents, or ABAWDs). Our study uses ABAWD work requirement waivers – which vary within and across counties over a 15-year-period – as a measure of SNAP access for childless women. We use this variation to investigate pre-pregnancy SNAP access and the health of mothers and their infants. Using rich, population-wide Vital Statistics data combined with county-level SNAP …

Analyzing Decolonial Subjectivities In Reggaeton And Latin-Trap Music In Puerto Rico: A Critical Discourse Analyisis, Andres I. Rivera Amador

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This project studies decolonial possibilities for subjectivities in the urban music genres of reggaeton and Latin-trap in Puerto Rico. Using Ian Parker’s critical discourse analysis to analyze the lyrics and videos of three key songs, it systematically examines subjects constructed in songs, objects, discourses, and their relationships to each other. In addition to studying reggaeton and Latin-trap lyrics, the project highlights the emergence of social themes that guide the critical discursive analysis. Psychological literature and decolonial theory supplement the analysis, bringing in important theoretical insights regarding the songs’ salient social themes, such as black pride and resistance, gender fluidity and …

Establishment Of Six Flags Over The Deconstruction Of Sandtown, John Ely May 2025

Establishment Of Six Flags Over The Deconstruction Of Sandtown, John Ely

Master's Theses

Development, both private and public, has played a crucial role in the knowledge that historians can take from the land, but the desire to build quickly ultimately destroyed many sites before they were properly studied. The Chattahoochee River, along with almost all the other rivers and streams in the Southeast, supported not only survival but civilization. Unfortunately, almost the entire catalog of scholarly sources regarding these places was written by men of European descent, and these writers rarely discuss the details regarding the fate of the sites that were destroyed in the name of industry. Sandtown was an almost mythic …

Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty Research and Publications

The recent addition of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation per- has increased the need for research on PFAS treatment technologies for water and wastewater. Electrochemical treatment processes have been widely investigated for PFAS removal. Peroxi-electrocoagulation (electrocoagulation paired with hydrogen peroxide (EC:H2O2)) was evaluated as a novel water treatment process for PFAS mitigation due to the multimechanistic removal pathways that can proceed during treatment, including chemical degradation via oxidation, and physical separation pathways such as sorption to flocs, flotation layer accumulation, and foam fractionation. This work investigated the impacts of …

Who Holds The Hammer? A Private Ordering Framework As The Key To Carpenter’S Privacy Puzzle, Matthew Green May 2025

Who Holds The Hammer? A Private Ordering Framework As The Key To Carpenter’S Privacy Puzzle, Matthew Green

Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property

This Note builds on the Supreme Court’s reasoning in Carpenter v. United States, suggesting that its technology-specific approach may be insufficiently elastic to address the complexities of modern data privacy. Through an analysis of several exemplars, this Note advocates for a private ordering framework—where data collectors respond to consumer expectations of privacy through self-regulating practices—as a more adaptive and effective means of safeguarding digital privacy. This approach preserves the third-party doctrine while reducing the burden on courts to draw technological boundaries in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
