A System And Method For Data Replication With Agentic Timestamp-Based Conflict Resolution In Rdbms Cluster, Ravi Shanker Kumar Sinha
Defensive Publications Series
A system and method for autonomous data replication with conflict resolution in a distributed relational database management system (RDBMS) cluster includes a plurality of RDBMS nodes arranged in a mesh topology, wherein each RDBMS node maintains a local database, a logical clock, and a node identifier. A replication agent associated with each RDBMS node monitors change logs and propagates record modifications to other RDBMS nodes through bi-directional replication links. A conflict resolution module detects concurrent updates to a same record from different RDBMS nodes and resolves detected conflicts by comparing logical timestamps and selecting an update having a higher timestamp …
Media-Baked Convergent First-Boot Network Bring-Up, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao
Media-Baked Convergent First-Boot Network Bring-Up, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao
Defensive Publications Series
This document discloses, enables, and dates a method and system for driving a freshly imaged bare-metal server from power-on to a single-homed, remotely reachable management state without any console interaction, any human network operator, and — critically — without any cloud or on-network metadata source. A generator bakes a per-node convergence agent directly into the operating-system install media under the vendor-supplement ($OEM$) payload path. During installation the OS setup engine copies that agent onto the target file system. A tiny first-boot script then registers a privileged (SYSTEM) scheduled task that re-executes an idempotent convergence agent on every subsequent boot until …
Verify-First Phase Autopilot With Out-Of-Band Differential Diagnosis, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao
Verify-First Phase Autopilot With Out-Of-Band Differential Diagnosis, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao
Defensive Publications Series
This document discloses, in enabling detail, an autonomous and self-healing bare-metal deployment autopilot. The system drives an end-to-end deployment pipeline through a single uniform per-phase contract — attempt(phase, max, work, verify, heal) — that verifies the desired state before performing any work, performs the phase's work at most once, and on continued failure either remediates and retries or hard-escalates to a human. Verifying first makes every phase idempotent and turns an interrupted run into a resumable one at no extra cost. The defensible element of this disclosure is the mechanism by which the autopilot remediates a node whose in-band control …

Self-Wiping Winpe With A Parked Shell: A Fail-Closed Single-Disk Clean Injected Into Boot.Wim For Unattended Remote Re-Image, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao
Defensive Publications Series
This document discloses, in enabling detail, a fail-closed mechanism for unattended, fully-remote re-imaging of bare-metal servers whose primary disk already carries an operating system, controlled only through an out-of-band management controller that exposes no remote keystroke channel. A user-mode edit of the Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) boot image injects a shell manifest (winpeshl.ini) and a launcher script that cleans the partition table of Disk 0 only before the OS installer runs, then parks the shell forever in a sleep loop because the installer entrypoint is a stub that returns before the operating system has been applied. The build step re-extracts …
Traffic-Quiescence Virtual-Media Eject: Inferring Bare-Metal Os-Install Progress From Bmc Iso-Fetch Telemetry, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao
Traffic-Quiescence Virtual-Media Eject: Inferring Bare-Metal Os-Install Progress From Bmc Iso-Fetch Telemetry, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao
Defensive Publications Series
This document discloses, as enabling public prior art, a method and system for driving an unattended bare-metal operating-system (OS) installation to completion by inferring install progress from the network traffic that a server's out-of-band management controller (BMC) generates while it streams the installation image over virtual media. A range-capable HTTP ISO server instruments every byte-range request per served file into a compact {bytes, requests, last-read} record. A dual-threshold traffic-quiescence rule — a primary rule (image byte floor reached AND read activity quiet for a short window) plus a low-water/long-quiet fallback and a hard-timeout safety fallback — concludes that the image-apply …

Subscribe, Follow, Save: Podcast Preservation In The Platform Era, Ben Pettis, Jeremy Morris
Rhetoric and Communication Studies Faculty Publications
Podcasting has produced a glut of cultural content. Collecting and saving these sounds for future study, however, remains challenging. This article asks: “How are recent developments in the platformization of podcasting threatening the ability of users and researchers to save, study, and sustain podcasts and the cultural insights they offer?” To answer, we focus on a podcast preservation project, PodcastRE.org, and discuss strategies for creating an (un)stable repository for future studies of podcasting. While new developments challenge preservation efforts, they also offer archivists opportunities to prioritize the cultural significance of podcasts, rather than the economic motives of the podcast industry …
The Impact Of Super Political Action Committee Spending On Abortion Legislation In A Post-Dobbs Era, Jeni Atchley
The Impact Of Super Political Action Committee Spending On Abortion Legislation In A Post-Dobbs Era, Jeni Atchley
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Super political action committee (Super PAC) spending has become a prominent feature of U.S. elections, yet limited research had examined how independent expenditures related to electoral success in competitive U.S. House races and whether that relationship varied by candidates’ abortion policy positions in the post-Dobbs era. Prior research has shown that Super PAC independent expenditures expanded sharply after Citizens United and can influence candidate visibility in competitive races, yet findings on whether that spending translates into electoral success have been mixed, and few studies had examined it in relation to candidates' abortion positions after Dobbs. The purpose of this correlational …

The Effect Of Retention Threat On Student Learning Gains: Evidence From Ohio, Sarah Souders, Robert Bifulco
The Effect Of Retention Threat On Student Learning Gains: Evidence From Ohio, Sarah Souders, Robert Bifulco
Center for Policy Research
Grade retention policies create incentives for students to make adequate progress ahead of evaluation. The threat of retention thus has the potential to affect all students’ academic outcomes, increasing achievement especially among students with test scores near the retention policy’s threshold. By using unique data from Ohio which allows us to implement a regression discontinuity design, we find that students exposed to the threat of retention in Grade 3 experience larger learning gains than students who are not under retention threat. Gains in Grade 3 English Language Arts (ELA) are 0.077 SD and although effects partially fade over time, positive …

Neuroactive Metabolite Assessment Of Gaba-Producing Probiotics For Healthy Aging, Sanaly Nava, Dishant Aggarwal, Samjhana Pradhan, Ken Aho, Cynthia Blanton, Javier Ochoa-Repáraz, Kavita Sharma
Idaho Conference on Undergraduate Research
Aging is a gradual process of weakening bodily function that leads to decline in physical, cognitive and behavioral abilities. Gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA), a major neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, is produced by both neurons and gut bacteria, and plays a crucial role in numerous physiological functions. Notably, aging is associated with a decline in GABA production and alterations in gut microbiota. Therefore, restoring GABA production by correcting dysbiosis presents a potential strategy for managing age-related functional decline. To better understand how to support healthy aging, our study investigates the gut-brain axis and the potential of genetically modified GABA-producing …

Climate Change, Governance Failure, And Violent Insurgency In Cabo Delgado, Hala Thabet
Climate Change, Governance Failure, And Violent Insurgency In Cabo Delgado, Hala Thabet
All Works
Contemporary literature increasingly links rising levels of armed violence in several African countries to the repercussions of climate change, particularly long-term environmental stresses such as the deterioration of agricultural livelihoods, resource scarcity, and recurrent climate shocks. However, this study argues that the relationship between climate change and violence is not an inevitable causal one, but can be understood as the result of the intersection of the failure of the post-independence nation-building project and the impacts of climate change on livelihoods and economic security. In Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique, repeated climate shocks and the resulting deterioration of coastal agriculture and …
China Maritime Report #56: The Silent Service: Assessing Plan Influence In The Central Military Commission, Natalie Shen, Joel Wuthnow
China Maritime Report #56: The Silent Service: Assessing Plan Influence In The Central Military Commission, Natalie Shen, Joel Wuthnow
CMSI China Maritime Reports
Main Findings
- Despite its impressive expansion, the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) is more of a "decision-taker" than a "decision-maker," with its growth driven by top-down political directives from leaders like Xi Jinping rather than by its own institutional influence.
- The PLAN's bureaucratic influence within the high command remains modest, with minimal representation on the powerful Central Military Commission (CMC) or in its subordinate departments.
- The PLA Army (PLAA) continues to dominate top leadership and management roles, limiting the navy's ability to compete for resources and influence key decisions despite a strategic shift toward the maritime domain.

A Reduced-Order Framework For Stochastic Criticality Estimation In Granular Energetic Materials, Philip T. Melton
A Reduced-Order Framework For Stochastic Criticality Estimation In Granular Energetic Materials, Philip T. Melton
LSU Master's Theses
Granular energetic materials (EMs) exhibit stochastic shock initiation because pore collapse, frictional dissipation, and localized thermal activation depend on microstructural descriptors that vary between nominally identical samples. Fully resolved mesoscale and atomistic calculations can represent these mechanisms, but their computational cost limits direct ensemble evaluation of microstructure-conditioned criticality thresholds. This thesis introduces a reduced-order framework for stochastic criticality estimation in granular EMs by coupling five explicitly defined model components: first, a one-dimensional steady compaction-shock model that maps initial solid volume fraction and shock pressure to a bulk mass-specific dissipated-work budget; second, an SEM/synthetic-image segmentation workflow that extracts pore area, perimeter, …
