Although smart home products have significant market potential in China, their adoption rate remains relatively low. One contributing factor is the generational differences in consumer purchasing behavior, shaped by distinct socio-cultural backgrounds. This study investigates the consumer behaviors and decision-making processes of Chinese consumers from four generational cohorts—Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation Z. A total of 463 valid responses were collected through an online survey conducted in China. The data were analyzed using ANOVA to identify behavioral differences among the generations. This pictorial presents an ethnographic account of community-based design observed in a historical urban adventure playground in Tokyo. Focusing on university student designers who also served as play leaders, we examine how they navigated tensions between initiating designed activities and supporting child-led play. Through field observations and interviews, we identify strategies such as concealing role shifts, reframing activities as everyday occurrences, and adopting a watching-over stance to maintain childrens autonomy. Historical design research often prioritizes grand narratives, while the cultural sig- nificance of everyday objects and their spatial contexts is frequently overlooked. Addressing this gap, this study investigates the evolution of "object-space" order in domestic environments through an integrated approach combining computer vision technology and natural language processing. By analysing image data across different periods, we identify object categories, placements, and spatial configurations, revealing micro-level organizational patterns and macro-level influ- ences of functionality and socio-cultural factors. Gongbi Artists' Acceptance Of Aigc: An Extended Tam Analysis With Qualitative And Quantitative Data, Yuhang Mao, Anthony Kong

Gongbi painting artists’ acceptance of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) through an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Using mixed methods (204 questionnaires and 15 interviews), we explored the effects of cultural adaptability, creative subjectivity, and ethical risk. Findings show that cultural adaptability significantly increases perceived usefulness and ease of use, while ethical risk negatively impacts adoption. Creative subjectivity strongly promotes willingness to use AIGC. However, perceived usefulness and ease of use do not directly affect intention. Results highlight the need for culturally sensitive AI design that balances tradition and innovation, while addressing ethical concerns.

This paper presents an artistic investigation into contemporary immersive exhibitions, focusing on the distinction between commercial spectacle and introspective experience. In the context of mass- produced, market-driven immersive environments, audiences are often reduced to passive visual consumers, where com modified aesthetics and per formative social media interaction dominate the experiential structure. This paper explores the design-led transformation of Kimu Design, a Taiwanese SME, through its participation in the Industrial Design-Driven Innovation (IDDI) initiative. Employing a single embedded case study and a mixed-methods approach—including structured surveys and semi-structured interviews—the research applies Maylor et al.'s Complexity Assessment Tool (CAT) to assess how public design programs influence innovation across structural, sociopolitical, and emergent dimensions. This study explores how generative AI (GAI) and humans interpret emotional meanings through color in cinematic visuals. Drawing from film color theory, we designed a set of mood palettes and applied them to keyframes generated by GAI. Using qualitative questionnaires, we compared emotional interpretations from human participants and GPT-4o. Results revealed overlapping but diverging perceptions: humans relied on narrative context and memory, while AI leaned on statistical associations. These findings highlight GAI’s limited emotional grounding and suggest opportunities to enhance visual storytelling tools through hybrid color-emotion frameworks. With children’s increasingly entangled relationships with technology, it is imperative for them to critically explore, reflect on, and envision how technology impacts them and society at large, now and in the future. We conducted a speculative filmmaking workshop with 9-10-year-old school children where participants worked in groups to envision the future of human-machine relationships, creating stop-motion animations showcasing their imagined futures. Analysis of the films highlights unexpected explorations of conflicts involving nature, alongside anticipated human-machine dynamics. This study analyses 1,706 undergraduate textile design projects from Loughborough University (1999– 2025) to trace changes in materials, methods, and themes in UK textile pedagogy. A mixed-methods design integrates grounded coding of images and catalogue descriptions with set-theoretic analysis (QCA) and descriptive trend charts. Findings show (a) a post-2015 inflection in digital practice (DIG), (b) rising sustainability intent (SUS), and (c) stable but evolving cultural/locational theming (CUL). Two robust “recipes” for material/process innovation (MAT) are identified—DIG·SUS → MAT and DIG·CUL → MAT—while DIG approaches necessity after 2015. This study explores the use of generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI) in virtual sportscasting for grassroots baseball in Taiwan. It focuses on how AI-generated tone and real-time game data influence audience immersion, emotional engagement, and trust. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining surveys and Reflexive Thematic Analysis (RTA), with participants being parents from a youth baseball team in Hsinchu. They viewed three types of commentary: neutral, supportive, and supportive with data, and rated perceived excitement and style. In today’s hyper-efficient world, why do people engage in activities that require time and effort? This research explores the causes and meanings of such behaviors through the Japanese concept of “tema”, defined as intentional, non-optimized engagement where the process holds intrinsic value. Using workshops and qualitative interviews, we identify four key elements of “tema”: time, body, creativity, and value. This study presents Three Locks, an immersive narrative system that integrates Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to investigate multi-perspective storytelling within nonlinear interactive environments. Players manipulate miniature figurines representing gold prospectors with distinct motivations. This study examined how different narrative perspectives in chatbot dialogues shape users’ identity perceptions and willingness to continue interaction. 86 participants interacted with a LINE BOT framed in first-, second-, or third-person voice during an 8-day academic task. Findings showed that the 1st- person perspective fostered more personalized identity projections—such as mentor, peer, or self— and encouraged longer engagement duration. The 3rd-person perspective, while emotionally distant, yielded the highest willingness to continue use, suggesting broader acceptability. Generative AI (GenAI) is reshaping design education, leading to the emergence of new university policies and evolving student practices. This study offers a comparative review of 17 institutional policies and 38 empirical studies on design students’ engagement with GenAI. Using inductive analysis, we developed a synthesized set of themes that capture both regulatory guidance and practical usage. Our findings indicate that while institutional policies emphasize responsible use, general-purpose recommendations, and abstract competency aims, student practices are characterized by situated judgment, iterative workflows, and profession-oriented skill development. This study aims to increase the relaxation effect in sensory rooms by developing an interactive device that operates in synchronization with the user's breathing. In the context of post-usability cultures, where users increasingly seek emotional resonance over mere functionality, this study explores the potential of kawaii as a communicative grammar in interface icon design. Adopting a three-phase methodology— (1) UI audit of 31 mobile applications, (2) metaphor extraction across 101 apps to identify dominant icon types, and (3) an evaluation experiment involving 21 participants rating 12 heart-shaped icon stimuli—this research investigates how subtle visual modifications along three design axes (stroke thickness, curvature and fullness, spatial balance) influence users’ kawaii perception. This research explores the potential of semantic sonification as a method to enhance the interpretation of abstract visual art in exhibition contexts. By translating contextual elements—such as historical background, artistic intent, and socio-political context—into structured musical layers, the study investigates whether system-generated music can support meaning-making and emotional engagement among viewers. A custom interactive system was developed to capture visual artworks, analyze their semantic attributes using AI, and generate short musical pieces that evolve in complexity based on user interaction. Dog marking behavior in urban spaces is problematized as a factor causing corrosion of public property and soil damage. Conventionally, various solutions have been considered for this problem, including the application of repellents and water-flushable toilets for dogs, but all have remained human- centered approaches, consequently reducing dogs' place in urban space. Through four phases of prototyping, this study developed the "Dog-Pee Spot" a product that attracts and aggregates dog marking behavior. This paper presents a first-hand account of an immersive, interactive exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci’s works. Unlike traditional museum visits, this exhibit featured touch-sensitive walls and multi-sensory engagement, making it highly interactive and captivating. Alongside Da Vinci’s artworks, his design prototypes were displayed, offering a comprehensive view of his creativity. Visitors across age groups engaged enthusiastically, with children and young adults particularly drawn to the dynamic presentation. The author uses participatory observation method to study visitor behaviour, focusing on interactions, engagement, and interest levels.
