5 Bfts Association Newsletter No. 33 - New Year 2026, Jenifer A. Harding Jan 2026

5 Bfts Association Newsletter No. 33 - New Year 2026, Jenifer A. Harding

Newsletters

This time last year, I wrote that the New Year bought the UK very cold weather (down to -5C or 23F here but colder in other parts of the UK). The same thing has happened this year – our lowest in the UK West Midlands was -6C overnight but it was -12C in other places.

This is such a contrast to the weather the cadets found in Florida. My father arrived in October 1941 and spent Christmas at Fort Myers Beach where he wrote that the temperature reached 95F (35C). Groups of cadets went to Miami Beach at weekends to …

Correlation Of Mwd Parameters And Soil Properties In Nebraska With Geospatial Visualization Of Borehole Data, Michael N. Erzuah Jan 2026

Correlation Of Mwd Parameters And Soil Properties In Nebraska With Geospatial Visualization Of Borehole Data, Michael N. Erzuah

Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports

One of the techniques used for recording a drilling system in terms of its mechanical response is Measurement While Drilling (MWD). A combination of recorded MWD parameters can be used to form compound parameters by utilizing different physics-based equations. Several engineering and index properties of the subsurface material can be correlated using these combined parameters for site characterization. In this study, we investigated the outcome of correlations between different compound parameters and SPT-N values using MWD data from four different boreholes in the state of Nebraska, USA drilled using tricone bits and mud rotary method. An interactive web map was …

The Keystone State Should Forge A New Path To Lawyer Licensure, Ashley M. London, Nachman Gutowski, Sarah J. Garrison, Steven Foster Jan 2026

The Keystone State Should Forge A New Path To Lawyer Licensure, Ashley M. London, Nachman Gutowski, Sarah J. Garrison, Steven Foster

Scholarly Works

Pennsylvania should reject the adoption of the NextGen bar examination and instead develop a new, state-specific pathway to lawyer licensure that better serves the needs of the legal profession and the public. The NextGen exam, designed by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE), introduces significant challenges, including its lack of transparency, inadequate preparation materials, and reliance on a rigid, memorization-heavy format. These deficiencies hinder equitable access to licensure, disproportionately affecting underrepresented groups and perpetuating systemic barriers within the profession.

Moreover, NextGen's failure to robustly address critical legal areas, such as trusts and estates, jeopardizes the ability of new lawyers …

The Path To Abundance: The Legal, Policy, And Political Challenges Of An Abundance Agenda, Eric Biber Jan 2026

The Path To Abundance: The Legal, Policy, And Political Challenges Of An Abundance Agenda, Eric Biber

William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review

A range of public intellectuals and academics have argued that America is increasingly unable to advance major projects, such as housing, renewable energy, and innovation, because of legal obstacles such as judicial review and regulatory requirements. In response, the abundance movement has called for legal reforms to speed up project development. The abundance movement has identified real problems that require solutions. Unfortunately, the movement also faces political and legal challenges as well. Reform will require difficult tradeoffs, which will be politically difficult. Abundance reforms will likely not be politically popular, and will be particularly hard to implement in a polarized …

A Green Supply Chain Or A Greenwashed Ad Campaign? Supply Chains, Environmental Marketing, And The Energy Transition, Meredith A. Wegener Jan 2026

A Green Supply Chain Or A Greenwashed Ad Campaign? Supply Chains, Environmental Marketing, And The Energy Transition, Meredith A. Wegener

William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review

Building upon prior research and scholarship, this Article is a study into supply chain environmental marketing, the Federal Trade Commission, and the evaluation of potential changes to the Green Guides under the umbrella of the global energy transition. While prior legal scholarship has addressed details of environmental marketing such as fashion, recycling, or agricultural practices, this Article brings this work forward and addresses the collective challenge the global supply chain creates for all environmental claims across industries in truthful environmental marketing.

What is truth-in-advertising in environmental marketing, given the global path of consumer products? In Part I of this Article, …

The Lost Mines Of Appalachia: How Revitalizing Abandoned Coal Mines Can Revitalize A Region, Jonathan Gharib Jan 2026

The Lost Mines Of Appalachia: How Revitalizing Abandoned Coal Mines Can Revitalize A Region, Jonathan Gharib

William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review

Since the decline of coal, which began in the late 1980s, Appalachia has been left with thousands of abandoned coal mines that act as a stand-in for the state of the region as a whole. This stands in not only for the economic decline of the region, but also as a stand-in for the people of the region who also perceive themselves to have been abandoned. The future status, both legal and economic, of these abandoned mines that once helped to fuel Appalachia’s growth is unclear. Despite the muddied history of both Appalachia and these mines, with the proper legal …

Environmental Insurance And Esg: A Mismatch Or An Unlikely Pair?, Mycah Kindle Jan 2026

Environmental Insurance And Esg: A Mismatch Or An Unlikely Pair?, Mycah Kindle

William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review

Environmental insurance is something that is becoming increasingly important in the corporate sphere. Similarly, there has been an uproar in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) movement. ESG ratings are becoming the norm in corporate America as a way to quickly assess a corporation through using a variety of factors. This Note will argue that a company’s ESG rating should be a main consideration when insurers are underwriting their environmental insurance policies. This Note will argue that by linking a company’s ESG ratings with their environmental insurance, it may lead to more sustainable practices and accountability from corporate America.

The Mental Health Mastermind: How Noah Kahan Reduces Stigma, Meghan Deeley Jan 2026

The Mental Health Mastermind: How Noah Kahan Reduces Stigma, Meghan Deeley

ENG 490 Senior Seminar Capstone

Mental health anti-stigma strategies have been largely studied; however, limited research examines how musicians integrate lyrics and marketing strategies to reduce mental health stigma. This study fills the gap by analyzing the work of Noah Kahan, whose cultural prominence places him as an influential individual in normalizing mental health discourse. Drawing on existing research in anti-stigma campaigns, social media storytelling, and lyrical analysis, this study examines The Busyhead Project Instagram content and “Stick Season” lyrics. Using qualitative methods, findings illustrate that Kahan's incorporation of open reading lyrics with contact-based content enhances effectiveness of anti-stigma messaging. This research is a framework …
