Engineering and Technology Journal
Absorption of CO2 into promoted-NH3 solution utilize a packed column (1.25 m long, 0.05m inside diameter) was examined in the present work. The process performance of four different blended promoters monoethanolamine (MEA)+ piperazine (PZ), piperazine (PZ)+ potassium argininate (ArgK) and monoethanolamine +potassium argininate was compared with unpromoted-NH3 solution by evaluated the absorption rate (φ_(CO_2 )) and overall mass transfer coefficient (K_(G,CO_2.) a_v) over the operating ranges of the studied process variables (1-15Kpa initial partial pressure of CO2, 5-15 Liter/min gas flow rate, 0.25-0.85 Liter/min liquid flow rate). The results exhibit that the absorption behavior and efficiency can be enhanced by …

Numerical And Experimental Explorations For The Formability Of Drawing Square Cups Through Deep Drawing Operation (January 2020), Nareen Obaeed
Engineering and Technology Journal
This study aims to examine the formability of drawing cups having square shapes through direct deep drawing process on a single action press through one pass. This can be accomplished by conducting an FE simulation and performing an experimental investigation on steel substrate type AISI 1008 blank with diameter and thickness dimensions 80, 0.5 mm respectively. To explore and analyze the formability of such a drawing process, two process parameters have been included in this work which is the speed of punch (30 and 300 mm/min) and the lubrication state (with machine oil and dry drawing). Both direct and indirect …

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is extensively used to manufacture different conductive materials, including difficult to machine materials with intricate profiles. Powder Mixed Electro-Discharge Machining (PMEDM) is a modern innovation in promoting the capabilities of conventional EDM. In this process, suitable materials in fine powder form are mixed in the dielectric fluid. An equal percentage of graphite and silicon carbide powders have been mixed together with the transformer oil and used as the dielectric media in this work. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of some process parameters such as peak current, pulse-on time, and powder concentration …

Pose Estimation Of Objects Using Digital Image Processing For Pick-And-Place Applications Of Robotic Arms, Firas Hameed, Hasan Alwan, Qasim Ateia
Engineering and Technology Journal
Robot Vision is one of the most important applications in Image processing. Visual interaction with the environment is a much better way for the robot to gather information and react more intelligently to the variations of the parameters in that environment. A common example of an application that depends on robot vision is that of Pick-And-Place objects by a robotic arm. This work presents a method for identifying an object in a scene and determines its orientation. The method presented enables the robot to choose the best-suited pair of points on the object at which the two-finger gripper can successfully …

Considerations On Spark- Gap Channel Radius And Electrical Conductivity, Bassam Habib
Engineering and Technology Journal
A simple phenomenological model is established to determine the temporal evolution of spark gap channel radius and electrical conductivity during the resistive phase period. The present determination is based on the Braginskii’s equation for the channel radius which includes the electrical conductivity of the discharge channel as a constant quantity. In the present model, however, the electrical conductivity is regarded as a time varyingquantity. Basing on this, a mathematical formulation for the channel radius as a function of time was derived, and this has made possible the derivation of an explicit expression for the conductivity as a function of time …

Key Generation From Multibiometric System Using Meerkat Algorithm, Duha Salman, Raghad Azeez, Abdul Mohssen Hossen
Engineering and Technology Journal
Biometrics are short of revocability and privacy while cryptography cannot adjust the user’s identity. By obtaining cryptographic keys using biometrics, one can obtain the features such as revocability, assurance about user’s identity, and privacy. Multi-biometrical based cryptographic key generation approach has been proposed, subsequently, left and right eye and ear of a person are uncorrelated from one to other, and they are treated as two independent biometrics and combine them in our system. None-the-less, the encryption keys are produced with the use of an approach of swarm intelligence. Emergent collective intelligence in groups of simple autonomous agents is collectively termed …

The addition of SiO2 nano-particles at very small ratios was found to enhance the thermal conductivity of the paraffin wax considerably. SiO2 nanoparticles, add to paraffin wax, have a significant effect …

Liquid to solid partitioning as a function of pH leaching Procedure LSP EPA method 1313 was carried out to test the effectiveness , performance and efficiency of the cement-based solidification / stabilization (S/S) of heavy metals contaminated sand samples using Ordinary Portland Cement OPC type A . Two cement based mix designs ( 7 and 25 % ) have been applied to (S/S) sand contaminated samples with different heavy metal ions ( Pb , Cu , Cr , and Cd ) having the following concentrations ( 500 , 1500 and 3000 mg / kg ). Fixed water to cement ratio …
