A Reverse Exponential-Generalized Truncated Logarithmic (Rev-Egtl) Distribution For Ordered Spacing Statistics, Mohieddine Rahmouni, Ayman Orabi Jan 2023

A Reverse Exponential-Generalized Truncated Logarithmic (Rev-Egtl) Distribution For Ordered Spacing Statistics, Mohieddine Rahmouni, Ayman Orabi

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

This paper extends the exponential-generalized truncated logarithmic (EGTL) distribution to model reverse ordered statistics. Our procedure generalizes the exponential-logarithmic (EL) distribution to a distribution more appropriate for modelling the mth-largest value of lifetime instead of the maximum lifetime. We give a general form of the new family of spacing distribution appropriate for descending ordered statistics. General forms of the pdf and the failure rate function as well as their properties are presented for some special cases. The parameters’ estimation is attained by the maximum likelihood (ML) and the expectation maximization (EM) algorithms. The application study is illustrated based on four …

Neutrosophic Non-Linear Regression Based On Kuhn-Tucker Necessary Conditions, Mahmoud A. Abo-Sinna, Nagwa G. Ragab

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

Correlation coefficient and regression analysis are the most applied statistical approaches accessible in numerous disciplines due to its applicability and relevance. The neutrosophic sets found their place into recent research, whereas the world is full of indeterminacy. Kuhn-Tuckers necessary conditions are used to obtain the estimated parameters for non-linear regression models. This estimation procedure can use for any data set of non-linear regression models. We present, in this paper, the concepts of neutrosophic correlation and non-linear regression based on Kuhn-Tuckers necessary conditions. we provide some comparative studies between single-valued neutrosophic set and interval-valued neutrosophic set. Next, we apply scoring methods …

Some New Constructors Of Circular Strongly Generalized Neighbor Designs, Imran Munir, Hurria Ali, Muhammad Sajid Rashid, Khadija Noreen, Rashid Ahmed, Mahmood Ul Hassan

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

Minimal strongly balanced neighbor designs are well known designs to balance the neighbor effects at low cost as well as to estimate the direct effects and neighbor effects independently for v odd, where v is number of treatments to be compared. Minimal strongly generalized neighbor designs are used to minimize the bias due to neighbor effects for v even. In this article, constructors are developed to construct two useful classes of minimal circular strongly generalized neighbor designs.

Catalogues Of Efficient Minimal Weakly Balanced Rmds In Circular Periods Of Three Different Sizes, Muhammad Riaz, Hafiz Muhammad Arshad, Rida Jabeen, Muhammad Sajid Rashid, Adil Afzal, Rashid Ahmed

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this article, efficient minimal circular weakly balanced RMDs are constructed for the situations where these designs cannot be constructed through generators. Catalogues of these efficient designs are compiled in periods of three different sizes. In the proposed designs, v/2 ordered pairs of distinct treatments do not appear as their preceded value while the remaining ones appear once, where v is number of treatments to be compared.

Predicting And Controlling Fertility Using Family Planning Methods, A. H. Elnagar, Hegazy Zahir, Sayed Khater Jan 2023

Predicting And Controlling Fertility Using Family Planning Methods, A. H. Elnagar, Hegazy Zahir, Sayed Khater

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

Without a real reduction in population fertility rates, developing societies will push for more spending on their infrastructure and more demand for basic services for new-born, and more dependency and crowding, and the attendant ills and various social, economic and cultural problems, which will push these countries towards Directing a large part (if not most) of development revenues to meet the growing population. In general, the importance of this study lies in how to predict fertility rates using the rates of family planning methods (practice rates, years of protection) and to identify the method of neural networks and its accuracy …

Some New Constructors For Minimal Circular Partially Balanced Neighbor Designs, Qaisar Mehmood, Hafiz Muhammad Arshad, Khadija Noreen, Imran Munir, Abdul Salam, Rashid Ahmed

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

Minimal circular neighbor designsa are economical to minimize the bias due to neighbor effects for v odd. For v even, minimal circular partially balanced neighbor designs (MCPBNDs) are used. Generators to obtain MCPBNDs-II in equal, two and three different blocks sizes are available in literature for c = 0 and 1, where c is remainder if m is divided by 4, m = (v − 2)/2 and v is number of treatments. These designs have not been constructed for c = 2 and 3. To complete the construction of this class of neighbor designs, MCPBNDs-II are, therefore, constructed for the …

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this article, a new four-parameter lifetime distribution, namely, the Weibull-Linear exponential distribution is defined and studied. Several of its structural properties such as quartiles, moments, mean waiting time, mean residual lifetime, Renyi entropy, mode, and order statistics are derived. Based on the idea of the Weibull T − X family, the new density function of this model is developed. The model parameters, as well as some of the lifetime parameters (reliability and failure rate functions), are estimated using the maximum likelihood method. Asymptotic confidence intervals estimates of the model parameters are also evaluated by using the Fisher information matrix. …

Estimation Of Mean In Two-Staged Unequally Clustered Population In Presence Of Non-Response Situation, P. Mukhopadhyay, A. Bandyopadhyay, G. N. Singh

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this article, authors have tried to implement a modified version of [1] estimator in a two-stage unequally clustered population where the second stage units can be either of responding or non-responding type. We have utilized imputation technique to tackle the non-response persisting even after second call in the situation of two-staged unequal cluster population which is completely a new attempt. The purpose is to strengthen the new estimator by improving the ‘second call’ part of the estimator. Instead of taking a simple weighted average of the responding part after ‘second call’ a difference type imputation (to deal with the …

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In modern era, proper and effective planning can be only possible using statistical techniques to estimate different characteristics of population under studies. An appropriate sample design based on efficient estimation technique is desirable to extract maximum information from sample data. It is a well-known phenomenon to use auxiliary information and to reduce the negative impact of non-response using Hansen & Hurwitz approach that further increase the efficiency of an estimator. Information on one or more auxiliary variables correlated with study variable in several ways to get more reliable estimate. The current paper presents a novel Exponential ratio type estimator to …

Estimation Of Finite Population Mean Through A Two- Parameter Ratio- Product-Ratio-Type Exponential Estimator In Systematic Sampling, Housila P. Singh, Anita Yadav

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this Paper, we suggest a two parameter ratio-product-ratio-type exponential estimator for estimating the finite population mean in systematic sampling. The bias and mean squared error of the suggested estimator are obtained to the first degree of approximation. It has been shown that the proposed estimator is better than the usual unbiased estimator, Swain’s (1964) ratio estimator, Shukla’s (1971) product estimator and Singh et al’s (2011) estimators under some realistic conditions. An empirical study has been under taken to evaluate the performance of the suggested estimator over other existing estimators.

Statistical Analysis Of A Linear Multi-Step Numerical Treatment, A. T. Zaidi, O. L. Al-Harbi

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

The aim of this paper is to compare the relative accuracies between predictor-corrector methods, Adams-Bashforth method and Adams-Moulton method for solving initial value Differential Equations numerically to observe which methods tend to function well in which step-size brackets as well as which ones provide the minimum amount of error when compared to the true value. The statistical analysis shows that there is always a small amount of error present using Heun’s method; however, the error is rarely large enough unless the function is rapidly rising.

RACISM IN YOUR LIFE

The depth, impact, and experience of “racism” in our personal lives is a story that we do not often tell. These are predominantly private matters, only occasionally shared and with only certain people in our lives. Unfortunately, many people in our world are unaware of its full existence and do not know the truth about the experiences of racism in our daily lives. Without knowledge of these truths, society, including university leadership, cannot make adequate advancements to address these demoralizing experiences of people of color. In this anthology, writings on this subject will bring clarity, truth, …

Articles

Early and accurate detection of infection by pathogenic microorganisms, such as Plasmodium, the causative agent of malaria, is critical for clinical diagnosis and ultimately determines the patient’s outcome. We have combined a polystyrene-based microfluidic device with an immunoassay which utilises Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) to detect malaria. The method can be easily translated to a point-of-care testing format and shows excellent sensitivity and specificity, when compared to the gold standard for laboratorial detection of Plasmodium infections. The device can be fabricated in less than 30 min by direct patterning on shrinkable polystyrene sheets of adaptable three-dimensional microfluidic chips. To validate …

Identification And Biosynthetic Study Of The Siderophore Lysochelin In The Biocontrol Agent Lysobacter Enzymogenes, Amanda Lynn Miller, Shanren Li, Catherine D. Eichhorn, Yongbiao Zheng, Liangcheng Du

Liangcheng Du Publications

Lysobacter is a genus of bacteria emerging as new biocontrol agents in agriculture. Although iron acquisition is essential for the bacteria, no siderophore has been identified from any Lysobacter. Here, we report the identification of the first siderophore, N1,N8-bis(2,3-dihydroxybenzoyl)spermidine (lysochelin), and its biosynthetic gene cluster from Lysobacter enzymogenes. Intriguingly, the deletion of the spermidine biosynthetic gene encoding arginine decarboxylase or SAM decarboxylase eliminated lysochelin and the antifungals, HSAF and its analogues, which are key to the disease control activity and to the survival of Lysobacter under oxidative stresses caused by excess iron. The production of …

Assessing Ecotoxicity Of Surface Water And Sediment In The Little Scioto River, Leah Suzanne Morgan

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Aquatic toxicology evaluates the impact of pollution on freshwater and marine biota. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are one class of chemicals prevalent in the environment that impair aquatic organisms. This study examined the effect of contaminated surface water and sediments from a former wood treatment facility on four aquatic species: Pimephales promelas (fathead minnow), Ceriodaphnia dubia (water flea), Chironomus dilutus (midge), and Daphnia magna (water flea). The findings showed that sediment contamination had no significant effect on survival and growth of C. dilutus or on survival of D. magna. Surface water contamination began to have a significant effect on …

Characterizing The Vegetation And Effects Of Climate Change On Parris Island, A Sea Island Ecosystem, Cody Hart Goodson Jan 2023

Characterizing The Vegetation And Effects Of Climate Change On Parris Island, A Sea Island Ecosystem, Cody Hart Goodson

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Coastal habitats provide many ecosystem services, protecting coastlines from storm surges and erosion, diminishing the effects of eutrophication, sequestering large amounts of carbon, and acting as vital wildlife habitat. Sea-level rise and increased storm surge intensity associated with climate change are increasingly disrupting coastal habitats. These disturbances can shift environmental gradients that drive the zonation of coastal vegetation types, driving habitat conversion. Monitoring coastal habitat conversion can improve our understanding of the dynamic effects of climate change on these landscapes. Therefore, our objectives for chapter 1 were to identify and describe the distributions of vegetation types present on Marine Corps …
